WMF. Do you mean the cong met at Haysbridge for a short time, or you were in the cong that used it regularly, for a short time? (Confused myself with that)

How did you tell your spouse you want out of the JW religion?
by leaving_quietly inwhat did you imagine would happen?
did they react the way you expected?
how did you bring it up?.

About three years ago I started doing independent research because of my own nagging doubts and the seemingly more and more far fetched teachings. I told my wife and she got very upset. She instantly told her sister who tried to 'help me' by talking things through and then telling the elders. I agreed to a have some 'chats' with an elder and his wife that I really cared for. For a while I thought I could ignore the doubts and blatant bible nonsense. Eventually I told my lovely wife that I couldn't do it anymore. I was scared of losing her and my kids turning against me. But last year they all realized that I was right. It helped that, due to her ill heath, my wife didn't get to many meetings. My kids are intelligent enough to see past the brain washing. following the shunning and uncaring behavior of our 'close friends', my wife said that's it!! Happy days!!
i really feel for those of you who haven't been so fortunate with your exit. Hang on in there.

Thanks again all. My wife is only very recently out and is still a bit nervous of getting'out there'. It's obviously easier to meet people if you've known them from your previous life. I can't see any definite contacts on those links but interesting to see a few fairly local places mentioned. We were never in the real thick of the ' celestial chariot', lol. More like hanging onto the back with our feet dragging in the dirt! We would know quite a few from Crawley area and perhaps Woking from years back. Do you know me Phizzy?

Thanks all! I don't want to cause issues for anyone. Just wondered if there was anyone out there who was 'out, out'!

Found out about my 'marking'.
by Oneoutallout inyesterday we met up with an old ex witness friend after four years.
it was great to drop all the barriers that have stopped us all meeting recently.
apparently, it turns out that i was marked as an apostate some time ago.

LHG. Oh yeah, the cat is well and truly out of the bag. We are very much enjoying our freedom.

I know it sounds a bit weird but I think the elders did have a bit of sympathy for me. I was always a very obedient little JW!! Huey!! Ruuuuuuuth!!! Our elders were generally pretty descent chaps, albeit totally misguided etc etc. I find it really interesting how you all have had different experiences. I tended to believe the 'all congs united doing all things the same" scenario.

Thanks for your comments. It seems that if the info I have is accurate, for some reason things weren't handled in the expected way then. I thought it was odd. I was very vocal when I found out TTATT. Not that I went around blabbing to everyone I could, but to the elders and family that where trying to correct me. In the end it was my sister in law that felt something official should be done, so everyone knew where they stood, as far as shunning me was concerned. Not that it made a difference because it was her family that shunned us anyway. Others didn't.
