"The student and assistant may be seated at a table or be standing."
What exactly is this? Is there another option?
" I would like to hop on one foot please?"

sorry, i know i posted this earlier but i believe the title did not gather enough attention.
i think is a topic worth discussing.. http://www.jw-archive.org/post/127866869178/new-light-the-inspired-word-of-god-can.
"It is noteworthy that when writers of the Christian Greek Scriptures quoted from the Hebrew Scriptures, they usually did so from the Septuagint"
Is this a factual statement? or is this one of the "obviously, or evidently's"
All this WT article states is that the Septuagint is the faulty text not the Hebrew scriptures. It is the reliance on the Septuagint that is the fault. My understanding was not that the Septuagint was written for its upstanding translation of the Hebrew scriptures, but rather for the Greek readers to be able to read the Hebrew scriptures.
a lot of people, ex-jws, believers and unbelievers alike, think that jw's are just a somewhat kooky brand of christianity.
is it possible to "try and follow jesus" and not be christian?
what exactly makes someone a christian?
the thread title refers to a number of times i have heard those words, or "substance thereof" lol, from jw's.. they are referring to my/our reasons for leaving.. it occurs to me that the correct response is not a "respectful", " i understand", but rather should be :.
" why ever not ?".
if they have "the truth" why should they not discuss and defend it ?.
I had a JW get super mad at me for asking him to defend some thing he said to me while he was in "service" that I didn't agree with. I asked him to read 1 peter 3:15, he refused so I read it to him. I got just about to the part of "yet do it with gentleness and respect" and he yelled it at me. LOL
I said you do know it is YOU who need to be the gentle and respectful one, as I am the one asking and you are the one defending?
Stormed off in a huff.
so this week's wt study was all about jesus and the miracles he performed.
according to the study this proves that god wants to heal mankind in the same way.
because as we all know jesus is a perfect reflection of his heavenly father.
the ancient jews did not believe in an after-life as far as i can tell, correct me if i'm wrong.
the watchtower says yes.
they say all the prophets believed in a paradise earth..
It was in the Jewish culture as far as the Bible shows.
Job 19:5 “As for me, I know that my Redeemer lives,
And at the last He will take His stand on the earth.
26 “Even after my skin is destroyed,
Yet from my flesh I shall see God;"
Psalm 49:13-15
13 This is the path of those who have foolish confidence;
yet after them people approve of their boasts.Selah
14 Like sheep they are appointed for Sheol;
death shall be their shepherd,
and the upright shall rule over them in the morning.
Their form shall be consumed in Sheol, with no place to dwell.
15 But God will ransom my soul from the power of Sheol,
for he will receive me.
Daniel 12:2
2 And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
Isaiah 26:19
19 Your dead shall live; their bodies shall rise.
You who dwell in the dust, awake and sing for joy!
For your dew is a dew of light,
and the earth will give birth to the dead.
This is just a few scriptures that show resurrection from the OT and the Jewish belief.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/sacred_name_movementthe sacred name movement arose in the early 20th century out of the church of god (seventh day) movement, following on the preaching and ideas of joseph franklin rutherford who founded jehovah's witnesses in 1931 based on his belief in the importance of the hebrew name of god.

"the law of charity is a moving subject" lord wilberforce.
search form.
i just had an invite to a district convention later this month in calgary (i guess they get to clean up the saddledome before the stampede, lol).. they gave me a leaflet asking "why did jesus come to earth?
" so i asked them "so why did he come?".
"well, he came to save us".
Jesus told us why He came to Earth.
Luke 19:10 "For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."
And they are going to take three days to say this?
i know the jws believe that since jesus came, the mosaic law is null and void.. i notice many other christians seem to keep quoting the old testament.
there's even videos on the web with idiots screaming "don't take my 10 commandments" when a statue was being taken down.
even though i doubt these guys know the real 10 commandments in ex 34 (that were on the tablets), not the ones in ex 20 and would be hard pressed to tell you when was the last time they celebrated the festival of weeks or of unleavened bread.. i mean how can they scream about keeping the 10 commandment statues yet wear clothes with 2 types of fabrics?.
I personally do not think the 10 commandments are null and void. What I do believe is that the ten commandments were not something anyone then nor now could live up to. It is a measure that shows us that we cannot achieve them totally. It is to point out our flaws, I believe it was then also. We have to realize that with out God we cannot achieve perfection. Perfection against the ten commandments is impossible for us without the blood of Jesus. If you break one of the ten you break them all- James 2:10. Jesus added a little more meaning to the ten commandments when He said " it is written do not commit adultery, but I say to you if you lust after a woman you have committed adultery in your heart." Matt 5:28, as well as others. It is only by Jesus can we achieve anything,
Matthew 22:6 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37 And He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the great and [o]foremost commandment. 39 The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.”
