witnesses spend many hours serving jehovah because they will live forever in paradise on earth.....yes, they won't die like the rest of mankind.....so is this really why people serve god...for a final payday in the future?.

Do You Personally Know Of Anyone That Committed Suicide?
by minimus inlately, i've come to find out that a more than a few people in the area had killed themselves.
most of the people i know of were in their early twenties or forties.
for those loved ones surviving them, it was mostly a shock!

International Conventions - Have you attended any of them?
by Girlie induring my time in jw, i always had a desire to attend the international conventions, but never had the opportunity to do so because it was always extended to the elite class 1st (pioneers, elders, etc.
) and peons second.
in my congregation, the same pioneer sisters always hogged the opportunity, leaving others to only hope in the day they can go.

I got to go to the "Peace on Earth" assemblies in Europe while pioneering. I was living at home and was able to save most of the money myself. My grandparents gave me some money, too. The activities were not controlled then, we got a terrific price on air fare and accomodations and attended a session or two in each assembly city. After that, we toured and saw the sights. I was there for a month and it was wonderful. I'd love to spend another month in Europe!

Raising Chickens!

who knew a wife who was in a domestic violence situation while a jw
by looloo ini knew a girl who got married at 19 despite objections from the elders , they got disfellowshipped and reinstated after 18 months , he chose her clothes and would not allow her any money , he insisted on doing the food shopping with her , he hit her if tea was not on the table when he returned from work , he broke her nose once when she was holding her 2 year old child , when she approached the elders , onesaid to her "what are you complaining about ,he hasnt broke every bone in your body , there are sisters who put up with much worse !
if a jw man is not supposed to be violent why would they not give him a telling off ?.

My sister. Her first husband (a "brother") not only hit her but would push her out of the car late at night even in bad neighborhoods. She'd call my parents to come and get her then he'd call the next morning demanding she submissively come back. He'd pull in front of the house, beep the horn, and she'd go back. She didn't have any of her own money, had to give him the grocery receipt and change when she shopped. He gave orders for dinner, would change his mind at the drop of a hat and she had to fix something else. If he wanted pie in the evening, she'd have to make one. It was insane. The elders finally gave her permission to leave because her life was in danger. He finally admitted fornication and was disfellowshiped. I can't believe my parents could let her go back to him.
