Brotherdan is right; there's nothing wrong with you. You've just been conditioned over the years to react this way. You are sane. You are acting in the best interest of your children and they will thank you just as mine have. Be strong, it's hard to break the chain of guilt they'll try to wrap you in.

"...the times we are living in..."
by bez inso, just had one of our 'elders' ring to see how we are getting on and if we need any help etc.. when my hubby was honest and said we were ok and that we had decided to just move on with our lives and our family right now and concentrate on that and nothing else, but thanked him for their interest and care over last few months.... he replied by saying, ok, he would let the body of elders know this???
?, and he also reminded him to not forget "the times we are living in".... my husband told me the conversation after coming off the phone and now i feel, after being on a high the last couple of weeks (despite coming off my anti-d's cold turkey, drs orders) , i feel now actually really crap, quite scared and once again like i am making a bad decision for my kids... what is wrong with me!!!.

Lady Viola, she now lives in Amsterdam. I visited her this past winter and had a wonderful time. I'm amazed at how perfectly you Dutch speak English!

My daughter moved to the Netherlands about ten years ago. She had to go to language school for a year and a half, four hours a day, to become fluent in speaking, reading, and writing Dutch. She didn't think it was wrong and was happy to learn. She couldn't get a permanent resident card or access to certain jobs until she completed this requirement. Was it a hard job to learn a new language? It did take a lot but she felt they had a perfect right to require her to learn the language.

Im finally leaving my jw husband.
by littlebird insome of you know i have struggled with this for awhile.
i really do believe in marriage and the committment, however, sometimes enough is enough.. his endless preaching at me and calling me and my (adult) children satan has me realizing that this situation is not going to get better.
the other day he kicked my son out of the house for wearing a cap, in his car, with a skull on it.

You sound strong and you didn't make this decision quickly. As you said, you'll be fine! I left a 26 year marriage with a preteen and a teen, a new, entry level job and no child support. It was scary, but worth it. You can't change him, only what you do. It will feel so good to lock your apartment door every night and know he's not going to be there. I wish you the best; you're still young and will have a wonderful, fulfilling life!

Adults with imaginary friends are stupid.
by alice.in.wonderland inhere on jehovahs-witness.net i have come across theists, atheists and those that are agnostic that all claim to be friends because they're ex-witnesses like it is all that is needed for religious unity.. .
why isn't this on the ad?.
because every atheist i've talked to believes jehovah's witnesses are just another organization of stupid adults with imaginary friends, just a splinter of mainstream christianity a lot like the branch davidians.

"sooner7nc, I remember you claimed to be an anti-theist by stating you disregard everything in the Bible as a bunch of non-sense. Maybe you're a deist. I think you completely grasp and comprehend what I've posted. If Jehovah's Witnesses are a weed that needs to be pulled, what about "the religion of peace:" Islam? Jehovah's Witnesses may have directly affected some people's lives, but many people feel religion in general is a threat to society: 21st century thinking compared to the bronze age."
OK, I rarely log on but having only gotten as far as the above quote and being pleasantly amused by the thread, I have to say I can't follow what one sentence above has to do with the next. I guess I'm too far from the jw line/style of "reasoning."

Is this why you're known as Snowbird?
I googled it and can see why you would have enjoyed going there. It looks like a wonderful place!

Setting up trust any suggestions on how to handle our JW daughter?
by Bonnie_Clyde inwe set up a trust a few years ago but have an appointment with our attorney later this month to make sure it is current and make any changes necessary.
originally we had our daughter and our two sons to share equally.
now i feel that it should not be equal.

I would ask myself what the chances are of the money left to this daughter ending up in the hands of the organization.

Have you hit your 50's? Are you feeling it, or do you still feel young?
by restrangled ini'm curious, because in my 40's i felt like a million dollars.
i am starting to feel it,....i just don't have the stamina of working in the yard all day, coming in making dinner and getting the laundry done at the same time, or working full time.. i see the years in my face when i don't get enough sleep, and no amount of makeup makes a difference.
my eyes seem to always look tired.

I hit 60 last year; it was the only difficult number I've had. Most of the time I feel great, don't think about age and still feel young. Once in a while it hits me like a cold blast; I'm more than half-way through life! I guess I just take it one day, one year at a time.
