  Time is running out for the Society

  less than seven years remain before we see january 1, 2015. what will the watchtower's message be then?.

  how can they explain to the flock that jesus christ is now ruling in his 101st year?.

  I don't know. Look at the SDAs and 1844.

  1914 will become the JWs' 1844.

  Christ did not appear in 1844. After this "Great Disappointment," one "little flock" still insisted the date of their original predictions had been correct. They decided the event marked by 1844 was not the Second Coming, but the entrance of Christ into the Holy of Holies in the Heavenly Sanctuary. There, they said, He began the "Investigative Judgment."   Do you keep your Yellow Pages phone books? Or pitch them when they arrive?

  i just got a fresh supply of yellow pages books.

  three huge volumes in a plastic bag.

  it's my 3rd shipment this year, from various suppliers, i assume.

  Rub a dub,

  I heard on the History Channel that the Sears Catalog was actually the origin of toilet paper (a pretty recent innovation).

  I'm sure the fact that the pages weren't glossy in the old days helped.

  They just sit in the closet. I never use them. I just punch the business name, city, state in a google search and there it is.

  Same with the newspaper. I refuse all the sales pitches for the local paper I get over the phone. I get my news off the web.

  Someone told me that that the "holy grail" among the PETA set is the prospect of artificially growing animal flesh for consumption, rather than growing animals and slaughtering them for their flesh. Sounds pretty wild, not to mention a bit scary...but when you think about it purely from a manufacturing standpoint, it would make sense if it were at all possible to do it on a large scale.

  a famous oncologist doctor simoncini has been ostracised by the medical proffesion.

  he claims cancer is a fungus/tumor and he has cured many people by flushing tumors with ordinary kitchen baking soda........how can this work you ask?

  I wonder if there is a way to register to vote without anybody knowing.

  after i have mentally fallen away from the wbts, i no longer feel that waiting for some sky god to do something is an appropriate response to dissatisfaction.

  but since i am still in the organization in body, i can't really do anything openly.

  i was in the library yesterday and i was tempted to register to vote but i am not sure if it can be done in a way that my wife could never find out.

  Annoying trend in TV commercials...

  have you noticed how it seems that the tactic of making commercials deliberately annoying is becoming popular?

  i'm sure you can think of a commercial or two that quickly becomes like fingernails on a chalkboard.

  that is why they are produced and repeated over and over, they accomplish the purpose of getting your attention and causing you to remember them.

  Gieco ads are so annoying I've figured it was intentional. Same with Aflac. Ditto for anything from Capital One credit cards.

  Countrywide mortgage is just lame.

  I agree the amount of commercials is getting much worse. It's even worse on network TV than on cable now. I was trying to watch "National Treasure" on NBC the other day. I swear, every 5-10 minutes there was a commercial break.

  I must say, however that the 80s commercials were even worse, in my opinion. They used to try to bring a jingle into every commercial. With an extremely lame sounding chorus of singers. Some of those insidious jingles remain in my head to this day. "shower to shower each day..."

  At least some time in the 90s they switched to try and make commercials funny.
