My kids love halloween almost as much as Christmas. This year, my son is dressing up as Mike (From monsters inc) and my daughter as a the witch from the Wizard of Oz. They get to stay up late and knock on doors for sweets. What more could the little ones want?

I've been noticing a few grey hairs showing recently and its becoming more of a struggle to keep my waist size down. I cant drink as much booze as I used to and my smoking habit is becoming more of a nuisance rather than something I enjoy. (I intend to quit after this w/e!) Well, at least I still have all my own hair, own teeth and good health.
Anyway, I intend to enjoy today, and if any of you are out for a drink tonight, I'll expect a glass raised!!

First Christmas
by yxl1 inwhen we first left the dubs, we celebrated x-mas pretty much straight away, but had no decorations or tree, and only gave gifts to each other.
for some reason it just seemed wrong to put up decorations and we continued to celebrate this way for about 5 years.
we decided to put up decorations when it was my daughters 1st x-mas, and have never looked back.

Dansk,
All the Best mate. Sounds like your December is going to be a busy month.
Christmas to me is not a celebration of Christ's birth, but a celebration of freedom. I'll be raising a glass of JackD to all now free from the chains of stupidity, as well as the millions of kids who will have the joy of Xmas torn from their lives by their misguided parents and the cult they follow.

Stupid places to leave magazines & tracts
by Nosferatu inwhat were some of the stupidest places either you or another jw have left tracts or magazines, hoping someone will find it and want a bible study?

I took a boxload of really old mags to school once to leave in the library. It was embarrising when they announced from the platform that I had placed 60 magazines during the month and everyone clapped. Mind you, 60 magazines and about 2 hours service didnt really add up, but no one questioned it.

HOW "TRUE" ARE JW HOURS ?
by josephus inas a jw i admit to "massaging" my hours nearly every month to keep up with the expected amount.. my brother never put in hir report for nearly 2 years.
i was amazed when i asked the secretary he told me "i allways put a few hours in if people forget" !!!
so my brother was a regular publisher despite not going out on service.. he was one man.

My report card was pure fiction. My bookstudy overseer would know I didnt do anywhere near 20 hours a month and yet he never questioned me. That probably says as much about him as it does me. I also used to get badgered into filling out a report card when the CO visit was pending. Funny that...

Contact
by Phil inwell, i just got a mail letter from the local kh.
remember i am the one who has a daughter that was lured into the jws a few years ago.. i got a letter from a mr. christianson inviting me to discuss the bible with him.. i made a copy of one of the threads on child molestation.
i included a note telling him that based on the content of the attached infomation i cannot imagine what we could possible talk about.

You did the right thing. He doesnt want to discuss the bible with you, he wants to increase his monthly report card and try to get you back into the fold. IMO, you did the right thing by giving him the child molestation printouts from this site. Who knows, he may even reconsider is position. Sorry to hear about your daughter. I dont know what I'd do if mine took an interest in the Dubs...it doesnt bare thinking about!
Good luck

Bizarro things the person with whom you studied told you
by berylblue in"traditionally, women in japan were to walk 10 paces behind a man.
that is much more appropriate than what is going on here, what with women thinking they are men's equals.".

A newly converted sister told me that it had been suggested to her by an Elders wife, to arrange her wedding night to coincide with her period. This way, when the marriage was consumated, the husband wouldnt be able to tell that she wasnt a virgin.....Eeeewwww!
