My father-in-law was removed as an Elder because his wife had her "tubes tied" after they had their 8th child. Apparently, someone found and and was "stumbled". He was appointed an Elder again after a year.
Its a shame they didnt remove his elder-dom when he was punching, kicking and screaming at my wife on a daily basis when she was a teenager....Man, the stuff this bloke did to his adopted children AND then give talks on family values. If it wasnt so sad, I'd laugh
i'm curious as to whether you've ever smoked.
i've never put a cigarette or any thing similar to my lips.
i've never had the desire.
Welcome aboard micah2332. I agree. If you must smoke, at least mix it with something green.... But it does require a lot of self control not to end up wasted all day. One or two after my evening meal is the best time to kick back and chill. Any more and I end up acting (and looking) like an extra from a George A Romero movie!

That was a great post blondie.
I recall a sister in our congregation had all her social security stopped. Her husband, who had left home, was now sleeping in her garden shed. Someone told the local authorities that he was still living with her, so all her benefits were stopped. The following month,at the end of the theocratic ministry school, an Elder announced that there was "someone" who was having serious finanical problems needed the assistance of the congregation. The sisters collected food parcels from the families in the congregation and gave them to the sister in need. I was friends with the sisters eldest son, and he showed me the food that the congregation had given....
catfood, dogfood, out of date tins, packets and packets of flour, and powered milk.
Probably enough to feed one person for a few days.(If you like petfood) This sister had no pets(!) and four children. There were no more food parcels and no more announcments for help. The sister then had to get a few low paid cleaning jobs to make ends meet while her two youngest were taken into care. We didnt see much of her after that. I wonder if the Elders ever checked up on her?
Christian Love? Dont make me laugh.
a couple days ago minimus asked the question (anyone notice he's always asking questions?

everything that xena said...god, how I hate loud chewing
"it's paradise, a 1000 years!".
"no more sorrow, no more tears.".
see the pictures in my book?.
I'd forgotten about all the sleepless nights thinking about Satan and his demons trying to get me. That stuff used to frighten the shit out of me...
things that the wts could never get away with putting in print but have free reign to say verbally
heres my summary of the dc after recently having the veil lifted from my eyes re the wts
look for the alcohol talk.
Loved it Winston. Really looking forward to the rest of the post. I'm finding it amusing that you're now paying close attention to the talks. I read the Watchtower and Awake! from cover to cover these days...for amusement value. When I was a dub, I'd never v olunteer read that crap. Keep up the good work, and please be careful. Your wife will be destroyed if she's known as the "Apostates wife"
my sister-in-law's husband was raised as a jehovahs witness in north yorkshire and was educated at home by his mother along with his 5 brothers and sisters.
i remember many years ago when it first became common knowledge, many brothers and sisters thought that this method of education was ideal for witnesses who wanted to remain separate from the world, but all the kids from our congregatation had a state education.
i guess my question is, was home education only limited to my in-laws husbands family, or were any of you educated at home?
"If it's done right, the results can be exceptional. I know some people think that kids who home school can be social morons, but I haven't seen that with the kids I know."
What are these kids like socially? Are they confident? Is their knowledge base varied? What are they like physically? Dont get me wrong, I'm not knocking home ed, but only if its done correctly. My sis in laws husband is a good example of home education not working. He can quote watchtower doctrine OK, but ask him a general knowlegde question and you'll get a blank look..Yeah, he's a moron, and so are the rest of his home schooled siblings

Personally, the thought of home education leaves me cold. Even though most people at school thought I was a little weird (not allowed to sit in on school assemblies, not celebrating xmas/b'days/easter, walking the streets on a saturday morning with a briefcase, not allowed in any after school teams, etc etc) I couldnt imagine anything worse than spending the "best years of my life" watching my mum fumble through a science textbook.
FYI, my sister-in-laws hubby (still a witness) has little knowledge of anything other than what is published by the WBTS. No history, science, art, geography, music....but seems happy to wash windows for a living....
the james ossury, and another piece (a inscription relating to repairs to the temple) have today been declared fakes by the body of scientists tasked by the israeli antiquities authority; no url reference, this is off the radio (bbc world service).
