i think that since the airing of dateline on jw pedophiles, that many of the public will be fearful of the jw's and will absolutily tell their children to not talk or let the jws in their homes.. i see it playing out this way in field service over and over again:.
jdubs come to the yard of someone with kids,.. and right away the householder has all their children quickly go inside for fear they might be molested.. i think going out in field service will get harder and harder for the dubs because of all this very very bad publicity.. probably many pioneers will stop pioneering because of this.
and many dubs will secretly lose respect for the wt and the elder arrangement.
Dream on, dream on! That isn't happening in my area. One reason is that despite the Dateline story, people in this area (as in many others) have many years of experience with Jehovah's Witnesses, and none of it has involved any type of child molesting.
In other words, the experience does not match the Dateline story.

today there was an interview with diane wilson who wrote "awakening of a jehovah's witness,escape from the watchtower society" along with gerald bergman, phd.. it's an awesome expose of the jw's and i think you will enjoy it.
Diane Wilson's book is more an "expose" of Diane Wilson. She writes that "driven by the fear of dying at Armageddon, I was baptized on April 11, 1970, as one of Jehovah's Witnesses." When Armageddon didn't come in 1975, she embarked on a major mission to find fault with everything the Society taught -- which in another place she said she never believed anyway, but only "pretended to be in agreement with."
By her own words, she was phoney from day one.

i would like to discuss this show with some jws to see some average reactions of the show.
There is another JW site -- restricted, so I won't name it here -- that was discussing Dateline, but those who admitted to watching the show are being chided for hobnobbing with apostates.
Watch the show -- and you're chastised.
Don't watch the show -- and you're left clueless for those who did and who ask questions.

the fact is that all of us became jehovahs witnesses despite the fact that the wtbts has always had a pretty shady past that included false prophesies, questionable behavior by its leaders, twisted scriptures and the like.
i could, of course, be wrong but it seems to me that in spite of everything that is happening at this time, there are still needy people who will accept the crap they expound and join the organization.
it will continue to grow and prosper.
One person's "crap" is another person's fertilizer. Getting rid of Jehovah's Witnesses will not get rid of pedophilia, the two should not be linked. No sane or moral person approves of pedophilia, including, as an organization, Jehovah's Witnesses.

i posted this on another thread but i know it got buried....i thought it was an important that the jw's on this board hear this.. do you think that bill or any silentlamb would have to resort to such public measures if the wtbts had listened in the first place.
think about it...these people are putting a lot on the line...do you think they would be going to such lengths to be heard if the wtbts had responded to there more "discreat" pleas for help?
you are only seeing the tip of the iceburg...they have been trying to get the wtbs to not just hear them but listen to them for years.
Maybe they do not consider themselves to be "uppity," and conclude that you are talking to someone else.
Maybe they concede your point and agree with it...if it is true.

For the protection of our children, a man known to have been a child molester does not qualify for a responsible position in the congregation. Moreover, he cannot be a pioneer or serve in any other special, full-time service.—Compare the principle at Exodus 21:28, 29....If, for example, an individual makes immoral advances to another adult, the adult should be able to resist his or her advances. Children are much easier to deceive, confuse, or terrorize. The Bible speaks of a child’s lack of wisdom. (Proverbs 22:15; 1 Corinthians 13:11) Jesus used children as an example of humble innocence. (Matthew 18:4; Luke 18:16, 17) The innocence of a child includes a complete lack of experience. Most children are open, eager to please, and thus vulnerable to abuse by a scheming adult whom they know and trust. Therefore, the congregation has a responsibility before Jehovah to protect its children.
Well-trained children learn to obey and honor their parents, the elders, and other adults. (Ephesians 6:1, 2; 1 Timothy 5:1, 2; Hebrews 13:7) It would be a shocking perversion if one of these authority figures were to misuse that child’s innocent trust so as to seduce or force him or her to submit to sexual acts. Those who have been sexually molested in this way often struggle for years to overcome the resulting emotional trauma. Hence, a child molester is subject to severe congregational discipline and restrictions.
Whereas the present WTS policy may be in need of updating and upgrading, it is simply not true that the WTS has at any time advocated the protection of pedophiles.
