i've heard some view points that state, atheists are generally more moral & caring for fellow humans, than are theists.. i'd like to hear some personal stories of life changes and quality of life after you became atheist.

Caedes - I dont think the Question is which group is "better". The question is What Positive & Negative Effects does organized religion have on individuals..

If Humans are Innately good and caring, for no other reason than their Conscience, what happens when some one else tells them what is right & wrong, and then what happens when these people return to trusting their own Hearts & Consciences. I am not an Atheist, but I do not Judge them, and I do not feel animosity towards their differing view points.

There are a lot of Topics to cover, but what do you guys think about these Verses on God's View Point of Animal Sacrifice?

Jeremiah 7:22 " For in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, I did not speak to your fathers or command them concerning burnt offerings and sacrifices."

Psalm 40:6 " Sacrifice and offering you did not desire-- but my ears you have opened -- burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not require."

1 Samuel 15:22 " But Samuel replied: "Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the LORD? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams."

Psalm 51:16 " You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings."

Isaiah 1:11 " "The multitude of your sacrifices-- what are they to me?" says the LORD. "I have more than enough of burnt offerings, of rams and the fat of fattened animals; I have no pleasure in the blood of bulls and lambs and goats."

So Which is it? Does God Delight in Sacrifice, or Does Man?

I agree with both of your views.. I'm curious, have either of you researched Biblical Prophecy to determine whether or not the Prophetic Claims are correct, and have indeed happened?

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for your comments so far. I have read Several Studies, and the Findings Match many of your Responses..

On Average, Atheists care more about their fellow man, are More Educated, are more Peaceful.

However some studies also show that Atheists on Average have less "Hope" then do Religious Individuals.

I know that it is easier to Fabricate Truth using statistics than it is with the Bible.. But my Observations on here, confirm these studies.

Have any of you ever considered this, If there were no Religous Texts, and no Religion, would you still be Atheist?

Ok I see that my question is very loaded.. It is so common for Theists & Atheiests to engage in disputes, but that is not my intent at all..

Here are the main concepts of my "theory".

- Most humans receive their knowledge of God from Tradition (Church,Family,Society,etc)

- Most humans accept these Traditional Views as "Truth"

- Most religious view points are derived from interpretations of sacred Religious Texts (Bible,Quaran,Book of Mormon,etc)

- Most people do not make any effort to challenge Traditional Doctrine or The Actual Religious Texts.

- For this Reason people View their Religious Texts as their God. They decide that Whatever that Religious Text says about God is the Truth.

- Every Religious Text has been Manipulated, Revised, and Adapted over the Centuries to support Various Interpretations.

- Being a Theist it is my Opinion that we are made in God's Image, and if we stopped searching for God in our various Religous Texts, and instead we looked inside of our selves, We would Better Understand God.

Ishmael - Thank you for your response, what you say about Morality and happiness are both true, they are influenced by many factors.. I guess I Should clarify Morallity, since Morals are subjective.. Instead of saying Morallity let's instead say.. Are Atheists more likely to Fulfill "The Golden Rule" do to others what you would like done to you.
