  I Hate the Sound of the Word Jehovah

  listening to clips of the latest manipulative video from the watchtower i realised how much i detest that word - jehovah.. sometimes i have thought it would be interesting to observe a meeting or part of a convention.

  every time i heard that word i would be unable to stay in my seat.. i have a visceral reaction every time i hear it.

  it stands for so much that i have contempt for.

  The worst is when they don't know how to say it as Jeehovah or Juhhova and they end up saying ....

  JeuhHOvuh all slurred together and at your expense of course.

  researchers in york used magnetic stimulation to target an area of the brain called the medial frontal cortex in a group of volunteers.

  a control group received a sham treatment.. both groups were asked to think about death.

  the group who experienced the magnetic energy reported 32.8% less belief in angels, god and heaven.. when faced with difficult challenges people often take refuge in ideology.

  How to deal with anxiety?

  lately my mental health has been rapidly declining.

  i have anorexia and deppression, and my anxiety has become overwhelming.

  i have been to many doctors/therapists in the past, but because i have not been magically cured my parents dont want to get me any more help.

  Blackwolf they are now using magnets for depression magnets for depression.

  also electrical brain stimulation for depression electro for depression. this isn't convulsive but very low voltage and safe. please check the links in blue.

  Also you might check into lithium or prescriptions. Some of this is not just talking about it you might need serious help. Try to avoid a garbage diet. If you go to a psychiatrist just remember there are more things to try than just what he/she is recommending and don't be afraid to change psychiatrists if one is not working for you as you might find a much better one. If possible get rest and some exercise.

  EITHER or NEITHER or BOTH? FORGIVENESS vs ATONEMENT

  on (new testament scholar) bart ehrman's blog, the topic of luke's view of the purpose of jesus'.

  death has been discussed.. in that discussion, ehrman points out how luke did not set forth the idea of atonement, rather luke set forth the idea of forgiveness.. on the other hand, mark and paul teach atonement.. these two points of view have been "mashed together" into a package deal, apparently, throughout history by theologians.. _________________________.

  It sounds like the same thing. Forgiveness just means 'let go of'. So wouldn't that be the same thing if God let go of your sin because of faith? Maybe just two ways of saying the same thing. The 3rd scenario Ehrman could add would be on merit of another. 3. You owe someone a thousand dollars but because you are friends with one of his close friends the debtee lets it go.

  you see ive started dating this girl and her family is of strong jehova belief.

  now i am not i do see certain things in there studie that is true in my opinion but ive never really been a religion type of person.

  i think i want to marry her but i am not a jehovas witness and am not looking to be anytime at all she says that is ok and we can still get married but i dont know how its possible or where we would even do it please i need advice

  Hello justthenorm... well... welcome to the fold. How strong willed are you? If you're strong willed they can use that to their advantage. Weak willed as well. Here is the problem and solution. If you are attached to this person but able to resist their pull you will slowly be torn in half as you watch her float farther and farther away. But this depends on how 'in' she is. She has to be pretty out for this to work. If she's baptized you must note that but it doesn't necessarily mean she is committed although generally speaking the chances are higher. You must carefully way the sum total of all factors. Imagine it like a planet- if you add it all up(baptism, family devotion level, personality, practical situation(geography, mobility etc..)) and the planet is too big the gravity will be too great for this to leave the planet. So you must consider every factor and carefully weigh if the gravity will be too great which it could be. Tricky situation but it is doable.
