  why are jws so afraid of apostates?

  their view of apostates seems to be out of the realm of the ordinary, the natural.

  its as if the words of apostates are supernatual or spiritistic as if apostates are some kind of jedi knights who can slightly wave their hands or twitch their eyes and bring one under a spell.

  @DuvanMuvan the scriptures that were quoted by Laika do not apply to apostates. Jesus does not Love Satan nor does he love the demons..... as a matter a fact he despises them

  maybe a silly question, but i'm curious about this part of the story of christ's crucifixion, when the 1 thief challenges jesus to save himself and "us too" from their deaths, but the 2nd thief rebukes him and pleads with jesus... .

  luke 23:42-43: and he said unto jesus, lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.

  and jesus said unto him, verily i say unto thee, today shalt thou be with me in paradise.. .

  A few International Conv instructions (more ways to control)

  a few official instructions jw delegates are being told leading up to the international conventions.

  congregation secretaries are holding conference calls and then relating the instructions to the congregation.. atlanta - do not drive to convention, parking will not be available.

  take public transportation; attendants will be on all public transit and able to assist.. dallas - attendants will be on site at all hotels to make sure delegates leave the hotel at their assigned times and take their assigned route.

  A couple of thousands from the Netherlands are also coming to the USA and another couple of thousands of dutch JW's will visit conventions in Australia

  I am reading a book titled : "The Last Generation" by Fred Pearce it has nothing to do with Jehovah's Witnesses but is all about science. Bottom line is, according to the book,... the end is coming any day now.

  What does 1 Peter 3:19, 20 mean? “In this state [in the spirit, following his resurrection] also he [Jesus] went his way and preached to the spirits in prison, who had once been disobedient when the patience of God was waiting in Noah’s days, while the ark was being constructed, in which a few people, that is, eight souls [“souls,” KJ, Dy; “people,” TEV, JB; “persons,” RS], were carried safely through the water.” (Were those “spirits in prison” the souls of the humans who had refused to take heed to Noah’s preaching before the Flood, and was the way now open for them to go to heaven?

  Comparison of 2 Peter 2:4 and Jude 6 with Genesis 6:2-4 shows that these spirits were angelic sons of God that had materialized and married in Noah’s day. At 1 Peter 3:19, 20 the Greek word for “spirits” is pneu′ma·sin, while the word rendered “souls” is psy·khai′. The “spirits” were not disembodied souls but disobedient angels; the “souls” here referred to were living people, humans, Noah and his household. What was preached to “spirits in prison” must therefore have been a message of judgment.)

  What is the meaning of 1 Peter 4:6? “In fact, for this purpose the good news was declared also to the dead, that they might be judged as to the flesh from the standpoint of men but might live as to the spirit from the standpoint of God.” (Were these “dead” the people who had died prior to the death of Christ? As already shown, the dead are not “the spirits in prison.” Those spirits were disobedient angels. And preaching would not have benefited physically dead humans because, as Ecclesiastes 9:5 says, they “are conscious of nothing at all,” and Psalm 146:4 adds that at death a person’s “thoughts do perish.” But Ephesians 2:1-7, 17 does refer to persons who were spiritually dead and who came to life spiritually as a result of accepting the good news.)

  Magnum in my opinion apostates are ex-jw's that actively turn against their former faith. ex-jw's that just fade away and build up a life without anti-witness activism are not 'despised' by me.

  Is it kind of funny that JWs don't give Jesus resurrection day any notice?

  if you think about it, for a die hard christian the day jesus was supposed to be resurrected and back in heaven, thereby fulfilling his earthly mission, is a very big day.

  all the jws i know never even thought about it.

  in fact if i had mentioned it, i bet they would have looked me at strangely.

  @DD sure apostates are despised by Jehovah's Witnesses you should know that by now
