  I am free!!! What Shall I do on this Meeting Night?

  so i am at a loose end tonight.

  i am not going to the meeting and sitting on the back row looking repentant no way!.

  here are some options... care to add some if you wish, help me to decide.. 1. go to the meeting and sit in the middle, reading "einstein and religion" paperback, go in early and stay after the prayer.

  i went to liverpool town alone.

  i went to see the temporary ice-rink to see costs etc, and i saw an alpine bar too.. i decided to have a drink first before ice-skating, no sooner had i walked in the bar , the door had not even closed behind me, there was a gentleman standing right in front of me saying hello.

  we had a chat, he is going through a divorce too, he bought me a drink, and we chatted some more.. little did i know, he was there with his new 33 yr old girlfriend, she was sitting down.

  Little did I know, he was there with his new 33 yr old girlfriend, she was sitting down. The bloke, went away while I was talking to a mother and her daughter, the girfriend then joined us. She looked a little unkempt, and perhaps older than me on account she was a smoker.

  They were totally sloshed, I was thinking my goodness what am I doing here? I thought I was going to get my lights punched out. But I don't think the g/f was compos mentis, about her b/f hitting on me and buying me a drink, besides the hunky door man was watching over us.

  I finished my drink, and went for a walk over to the ice-rink. I asked directions and chatted to some nice guys. One was Polish, I was in the Polish as a JW, I still speak some now. So we were chatting away, and he hit on me. He kept saying i was pretty, until I responded. He is only 21, what a couger I am hey. Well I just went off, not really my style. I want to remain chaste.

  By this time it was too late to skate, they wer closing down for the night.

  I went back to the bar, chatted to a couple of girls, and told them about being a JW, and they showed a genuine interest. By about 8.45, I was tired out. I got in and called Angus and Jane, we had a Baileys over the phone and a good old chit chat, 'till late.

  It was a nice evening, better than going to the KH.

  i still find it strange that believers cannot get it in to their heads that atheism is not a belief, but theism is.

  there cannot possibly be proof "for" the atheistic position as it is simply a position that says i see no proof for a god.. if someone says there are pink unicorns with purple spots and i say i have never seen any proof of their existence, i cannot offer proof of my "position", the onus is 100% upon the spotted unicorn guy to prove their existence to me.

  simple.. where the frustration enters in for us non-unicornists is when the unicornists expect us to listen to inane arguments , non facts and plain nonsesnse and then go along with their delusion.

  i sure as eggs know which types don't:.

  creative types: to do well at a creative industry one must dedicate a lot of time to developing one's talent, and as a jw one simply doesn't have time.

  since writing a story or painting a picture doesn't contribute in any way to prestudy, meetings or fs results it's considered useless anyway.

  perhaps the most common misunderstanding that prevents people from grasping evolution is complexity.. we see it almost daily on the forum where people mention dna or the eye or any of a multititude of examples and ask how it could have arose "by blind chance"?.

  whenever you see a reference to chance and complexity it is obvious the person hasn't yet grasped the basics of the theory.

  chance is only one part of the process.

  Einstien talked about hidden complexities and accepted that there were things far too complex for him to understand. This drove him to make honest enquiries.

  The chances of monkeys with typewriters producing this phrase exactly is 1 in 10,000 million million million million million million.-cofty

  If this was the result of a DNA test in a court of law, would this be a match? This is a probability only. This result means it's not probable no matter the amount of years that pass.

  I have read 3 chapters of Dakins as promised. In the "The Blind Watchmaker", which I am not tempted to read, does Dawkin's dismiss the concept of mathematical probabilities, as it seems so the way you have put it cofty?

  What do you mean by teleology? There are lots of various definitions.

  Is it just me or has this site become a Believer/Atheist warzone?

  i enjoy the odd thread about evoloution vs creation, etc but lately it seems that a large percentage of threads here devolve into fighting between atheists and theists and distract from what most of us here see eye to eye on, the wt and related things.

  i wish things could be more civil here and fr people to realize that people will never see eye to eye on the topic.

  it gets so tiring to see the contstant bickring and fighting on those threads.. they seem to go on page after page but very little of substance is discussed seeing as the existence or non existence of a god can be proven by anyone.
