How did you teach your kids TTATT? How old were they?
by KateWild inwhen i first started going on "other" jw websites my head was spinning so i didn't say anything to my kids about what i had read.
steve hassan's material helped a lot it was when i read that, that i realised i need to free my kids.. i got a lot of advice from jwn too.. my daughter had moved cities and went to the hall we used to visit frequently.
things changed when she became a member instead of just a visitor.

Initially my daughter had concerns we would die at Armageddon - Nugget
Thanks for your story it was interesting. It also interesting about your daughter. My kids never had any of these concerns or didn't express them. Even when I got Df'd I said it was unjust and Jehovah would not kill me at Armaggedon.
But when we stopped going to meetings the kids wanted to celebrate everything they could and move on with their lives.

What Makes A Good Friend?
by krejames ini just came back from vacation with my sister who is in her mid 40s and is an active jw, regular pioneer of many years.
while away, during one of our conversations, it bacame clear to me that my sister is lonely and doesn't have a social life.
she's too old to be included in the plans of the younger generation and, as she is not married, doesn't get included in the "marrieds" set.

. Widen Your Circle of Friends-Awake June 2014
Total hypocrisy. JWs are actually told to restrict their circle of friends to only JWs.
I have to admit, I was very sociable when I was in. I had a big circle of friends and always had visitors, and always got invited to others. I was friends with others all over the circuit and district and I was prepared to travel long distances for social activities. I suppose being married with kids helped.
Though there were a few JWs that would never socialise with me, and always made excuses. I didn't take it personally as I had plenty of friends.
Since leaving in Nov 2013, I have met up with a few from JWN and reunited with my students.
Krejames, I feel for your sister, we had sisters that were in their 30s, 40s and 50s in our circuit that were the same. I was really close to one single sister that always came round once a week for her dinner. we weren't close because I felt sorry for her. She was genuine and nice. Now she has no one and is too indoctrinated to talk to me. I hope both your sister and others like her, come to their senses and experience the friendships of a wider circle of friends.

Abiblestudent - Good question, I might use it, but I think they might be offended. What do you think?
Shirely - It's very rare I see trolleys with JWs I don't know, or JWs who know of me. I do like your question though about the internet. Good idea.
fulltimestudent - ooops. I totally understand your position. That's why I like to prepare before I engage.
NAVYTOWN - Great spring board question, I would think many would say that would never happen, but maybe if I explain my personal circumstances it could plant some seeds.
Stuckinarut - Whoahhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!! Way to go. Calm down though mister. Asking all those questions is like firing a machine gun at them. Sticking to one topic at a time is possibly more procductive, but thanks fr your input.
DNCall - I like Noah's Ark as a topic, but I need to do more secular research about animals and species before I am confident talking about it.
So, in other words, unless someone is of the elite, they don't get to do it....then why waste a 15 min part prattling on about getting involved with it if only a handful at most in the cong can do it! - Stuckinarut
Now I think this is a topic worthy of disscission. They do this to manipulate JWs to do more, and make them feel unworthy, it's designed to lower self-esteem.
DOC - Yes exactly, I could mention John 13.34,35. I have used this before, and hopefully planted some seeds.
4thgen - I hope to plant seeds and show them I don't deserve to be shunned, and that I don't agree with shunning.
Thanks guys for your participation. Kate xx

4thgen - Great work, but it just goes to show kids want to please both their parents. Sorry to hear your son is an unbaptised publisher, I am upset about my son too. But I am sure they will think differently when they get older.
I say keep on teaching them
DOC - I bet they were pleasantly surprised when you left.

A few thoughts on the District, um, Regional... sigh....
by Apognophos ini don't even know what the bloody event is called anymore.
i think it's still a district convention until it goes to two days, isn't it?
my convention program leaflet just says "convention of jehovah's witnesses", seemingly intentionally avoiding the change in wording.

especially with my "balanced" take on the program that I will be sharing incrementally.- TE
I like that, WT misuses the word balanced, in JW land it means fanatical bible basher. You bring it back to it's original meaning. Well done. Kate xx
