  the "brothers" decided they had the solution to the long lines for the ladies room.

  they went in there and covered the mirrors with brown paper.

  How do you feel towards JW's and the organization ? on July 18,2003

  some of us have been out awhile, some of us may have just left, some of us still on the fence.. how do you feel towards the jw's and the organization right now, july 18, 2003.. compassion, hurt, hatred, anger, sorry, bitterness, helpless, robbed, cheated, or any other feeling you can think off.

  which one describes your situation best ???????????.

  all of us feel and handle situations with family differently, yet we are so much the same.. the day may come when family comes to you and says those dreaded words ........... " i can no longer have any association with you, not even on the telephone.".

  Wow, that is a great question all about the here and now and deep stuff like that. Seriously, right now I am torn. Because I recently was re-shunned by my sister. After year and years she missed me or was maybe just curious, we had a sort of, so so "relationship" for a couple of years, then the re-shunning. God that hurt, just happened a month or two ago. So I got a refresher course. So I am torn between missing her and wanting to rip her an asshole you could park a Buick in. Sorry about language here, but sometimes nothing else will do.

  But we aren't discussing the "good traits" because decency, honesty and love exist outside the org. JW's think they corner the market on these, the arrogance of that is what we, at least I hope to have rooted out of my life. I truly hope I have left behind the arrogance. If it rears its ugly head, I will stomp it.

  This happened in the mid 80's at a circuit assembly in Wisconsin. The "brothers" decided they had the solution to the long lines for the ladies room. They went in there and covered the mirrors with brown paper. Yup, we stood in line for 45 minutes with 2 or 3 squirming kids doing the pee pee dance, then we finally got into the hot, smelly crowded ladies room and went straight to the mirrors to primp and preen for a couple hours.

  But seriously, they covered the mirrors, the all knowing brothers just knew the vanity of simple minded women who need a "head" to govern them was the cause of the long lines. I will never forget my outrage, but even worse I will never forget my outrage at the "sister" who had the nerve to remove this loving provision of the "brothers" who were trying to curb our vanity.

  The sister pushed her way through and tore down the paper and I was angry at her nerve to disrespect the brothers, in reality I was probably mad because I didn't have the nerve. What a sheep I was.

  Launching into a thorough investigation.

  have you pondered the "evidence" of the world-----of history------of science----of philosophy-----of psychology?

  have you personally,without the help of others,launched into a thorough investigation concerning god,the bible,and jesus christ?

  while i myself am still in pursuit,i am not yet finished nor have i come to any absolute conclusions about anything i am asking of you in this post.

  Alrighty then, here is what I think and why,

  I began college at the ripe old age of 40. Broad Field Social Science. What I was able to gather is that religion and mysticism were invented by people to explain and manage life. Illness, death, prosperity, good times and bad. The beliefs evolved from spirits that controlled crops, weather, health and the like into formal organized religion. Religion was then perceived as a great tool to manage the behavior of people and as such was adopted by governments as they evolved, to help with control and moral issues. Religion was also a great way to raise money, greed played a part, as did the need for social programs such as education and care for elderly and children.

  The much maligned Catholic religion was and is at times wonderfully philanthropic. It appears to be a part of human nature to take whatever is at hand and use if for selfish purpose as well as good. This is a very simplistic explanation of religion and its evolution, but it gets to the heart of what I learned.

  So that is what I learned and my beliefs follow, any belief in God or lack thereof are based on the above. I am in flux, still creating a world view for myself at age 47, it is an enjoyable, frustrating and confusing journey, but interesting and fun BECAUSE I get to decide for myself now. What a beautiful thing.

  Would you be willing to admit it if you've been a hypocrite?

  for the last 20 years of my association with the jws, i was, more or less, a hypocrite.

  they taught things i didn't believe, but i went to the meetings and, by my presence there and by my "non-answers" i in essence supported something that i didn't believe.. it's a hard thing to say "i was a hypocrite.".

  I am willing to say here and now that I was a hypocrite and a self righeous bitch. Pardon my lanquage but it is what it is. When I was an elders wife I was just like all the rest, then when the shoe was on the other foot, after he was disfellowshipped, I got a taste of my own medicine. I had been a nice and kind person, caring-really. But power corrupts, even the vicarious power of an elders wife.

  I have felt much shame about my attitude, I wasn't mean to people but I had a mindset and an attitude, I had worked very hard to be the perfect wife in the perfect family, what a sham and a shame. I don't know if there is a god, but I do believe there is a force in the universe that keeps people humble, and I got what was coming to me and I am grateful for the lesson.

  By the way, I had helped my husband with many of his talks, when he didn't know what to say he came to me and I supplied, I wonder how many other "elderettes" are out there?

  when i was sent to speak to ones and they came back asking me why it is that we hear and they do not, i had taken it before my lord to ask him.

  this is what he told me, their hearts are hard and they do not wish to hear what i tell them.

  Convention Concessions

  here's a question for you all... why does the society insist that all concession stands be closed at their convention facilities?.

  i can understand that back when they provided their own food service, they would not want the competition.

  (and in all fairness, their service was undoubtedly cheaper for the friends, many of whom have limited funds.
