You are right about that Obiwan, it really does surprise me to hear the WT blowing off the history of ANYTHING. But with the internet and the damage it is causing they have bigger fish to fry. But now that I think about it, the internet isn't really what is damaging them, it is their own stupidity. Speaking of history, I used to be curious about the expression, "hoisted by his own pitard", are you familiar with that phrase? It is used when one has caused problems through his or her own actions. I looked it up once and found that a pitard was a piece of rigging on a ship. It was invented by a man with the last name of Pitard, and named after him. He was later found to have commited some act not allowed and was subsequently "hoisted by his own pitard" yup, they hung the poor schmuck with his own invention.

Anyoldhow, the internet is not hurting them, they are hoisting themselves . . . well you get it. Hey-sorry about you and your Dad, we can put that stuff out of our minds and continue on, but it still hurts.

Ok, Obiwan, I will say for the sake of argument that the info on the website is accurate. But until I can have my sister back AND until my nephew get his mother back, I still must say that they are not making any progress toward mainstream religion. Neither to I believe that they ever will. If the WT began back peddling on the issue of shunning, many JW's would enjoy their families again, but how angry would they be about lost years? What about those who lost a loved one in death and then found out when it was too late that there was new light and they could have been having a family all along. I cannot imagine the backlash it would cause. Nope, can't see it.

Obiwan, and I thought you were my only hope!? Do you think the JW's will actually become mainstream? What about the blood issue, are you saying they have softened their stance? What about the "oral sex fiasco"? Is that okay now, maybe I am a little slow, but I was unaware of any changes in either of those areas. Tell me what I am missing. If anything I think they are getting tougher, particularly when it comes to keeping their people away from us evil apostates. When my witness ex-friends son died recently, I went to the funeral as I posted and none of their friends were there, I felt so bad for them. I wrote a letter, staying carefully away from the subject of religion. They wrote back which shocked me, but what they wrote didn't, it was hard line JW rhetoric, all about their loving god and loving friends and all the support and love they received. Well anything is possible, but none of their "loving friends" attended the funeral of their son. They are still convincing their people of what does not exist.

You always make me laugh. Hey check this out though, when I got married 8 years ago, I assigned a friend to take photos at the reception. After we found out there was no film in my camera. A few months later I was at a wedding reception and was telling the woman taking pictures at that reception about my experience about the film, she checked her camera and she was out of film. We had a good laugh and she put in some film, I found out after that she was one of the producers for the Oprah show. That is my brush with greatness.

in the united states i keep hearing about how nobody sees the witness is going door-to-door and more, or at least not as often as they used to.

i also heard a report from england recently which stated to the same effect.. what do you think?

As always, you are dead on-they are a filty cult. I think it is SO refreshing to hear a spade called a spade. Why would anyone want to see changes in something that needs to be gotten rid of. If the neigbors dog left a big steaming coil in my driveway, I would not plant flower seeds in it to change it into something wonderful, I would scrape it off and scrub the driveway because sh#t is sh#t even if you plant flowers in it.

Former Elders, a Question

i have always been unclear as to why i was disfellowshipped.

i had my judicial meetings because i was dating a "worldly" guy.

i assume this because they never said i was "formally charged" with anything.

Perhaps your pantz were too stinky. And we all know what causes stinky pantz don't we? But seriously though, I am gratified to hear you don't want anything reversed, because if you did we would all kick your stinky pantz around the block. I would be interested in knowing what the actual charge was. What are the chances you will get a straight answer? Is there a rule about showing the actual paperwork to the accused? They have so many rules so as to cover their backsides, I'm sure there must be one. Either they will show the papers or they won't, if there is a rule that says you can see the paperwork (which I personally doubt) then you should be able to.
