  I've used many "secular" books to lift nice stories and illustrations. "Hot illustrations for youth talks" was one, and there were a couple other similar titles. Some years ago there was a CD put out by a brother in California I believe that had a great collection of illustrations. I still have the CD but it won't run on my 64 bit Win7.

  I remember some of the brothers in my cong. being quite jealous that I could always come up with something to put in my talks to liven up some of the dried up stuff we had to serve.

  i came across this artist in my internet travels .... his paintings are just,, well, you have to see them for yourself!

  it's abstract expressionism at its finest, and easy to relate to the symbolism, especially as explained in the vid.

  many of you, reading this, may find joy and release in expressing yourself in artistic mediums; here's what can happen if you 'go for it'.

  i may be misspelling this guys name, but while i was in patterson doing long-term temporary (before i got accepted longer and moved to brooklyn bethel), this guy was my table head.

  he seemed to be really arrogant.

  his attitude towards me was very condescending.

  I attended a seminar some time ago in Orlando Fl where he was an intircate part of a presentation to flesh out money via the Planned Giving arrangement. There was a whiz bang Powerpoint presentation that was used to show how wonderful annuites were for the giver and the Borg. We were supposed to be so impressed that we would cough up some money and also help refer any other well healed folks towards piling up the bucks.

  At the time I thought: They can use fancy computer graphics to ferret out money but heaven help us if we used any thing with flash in a public talk.

  He is/was a millionaire as one of the above posters mentioned. I believe he was also part of the CoHi shill company that Crooklyn used to buy up real estate around Brooklyn.

  As of recent times, note taking by the subject of the inquisition (uh... read that committee meeting) is not permitted. No recordings, no note taking, no ombudsmen, no attorney. Simply listen to the all knowing elders and knuckle under to the opinion (truth) of the month.

  I'd really like to know if anyone has had an attorney show up at a JC meeting.

  i'm looking to purchase a 10" tablet & are seriously considering the acer iconia 16gb.

  price has alot to do with it au$355.

  i don't need 3g as i have portable wifi & i don't want the extra month cost.

  After looking and looking.... I chose the Toshiba, only to be frustrated by a sleep of death issue. No firmware update was immediately forthcoming from them though they were aware of the issue. I returned the device before the end of my Best Buy return end date. Several of my friends have purchased the Asus...and love it. Others have the iPad... they love them. I'm back to sitting on the sidelines for now.

  In the meantime I purchased an n2 card for my Nook color and am using it as a small android tablet albeit a somewhat slow one.

  Mr. Coffee

  does anybody remember the old apostate guy they called mr. coffee?

  back in the late 80s when i was at brooklyn he would dress in a suit, have a book bag, and come and stand in front of the 124 bldg or sometimes over by the towers hotel.

  he'd easily put in auxillary pioneer hours.

  How I remember him. I had been at Brooklyn working on an extended special project. Mr Coffee used to look in the window in the AM to see what was for breakfast and then include that in his morning comments. He really went wild when Freddy and some of the other older ones walked by. He picked others out for special "consideration". Got me a few times with - "Another new suit this one has- $14 a month - Hah!" Little did he know he was right.

  There was another poor fellow that used to mock Coffee. I think they called him Coffee Mate. He was basically a harmless mentally disturbed street person.

  I still have a tape of Coffee's yelling somewhere.

  I don't post here often. Thanks for the funny memories.
