Given this reasoning then, if a minister living next door stopped and saved your life by performing CPR on you while you were having a life threatening incident, you should not thank him but turn your back on him. What a crock of moldy Watchtowers.

Clap for the Carers (or Don't it's Forbidden)
by Slidin Fast inso, in the uk, during the early stages of covid there was a groundswell of appreciation for the nhs for their front-line sacrifice.
this was crystallised into a regular clapping/whistling/noise making session every thursday at 8pm.. "harmless" you would have thought, "a gesture of appreciation", "what could possibly be wrong with joining in on that innocent activity?".
well, the co during his recent rounds had a different view.

They must return to regular meetings or they will lose control. Many have already discovered that they like being away from the eldubs and the snoops. It will be interesting to see what the fallout is after they attempt to get everyone back in line.

JW Broadcast needs to take a leaf out of the Anglican playbook
by Diogenesister inhere the arch bishop of canterbury's dean shows jw broadcast how it's done.....or rather his cat does!
no hate speech, no lying, no over-done, fake news caster-y backdrop.and most of all no genocidal threats!.
just a garden, a nice cup of tea and cats!.

Perhaps they could have an interview with Tight Pants Tony sharing his thoughts on the various brands of Scotch and Irish whiskey. Certain to be a spirit filled review.

Questions I have about the "Ministry School".
by Pallbearer ini remember that jehovah's witnesses used to have a 2-hour, 2-part mid-week meeting which included a 1-hour "ministry school" followed by a 1-hour "service meeting".
please correct me if i am wrong in any respect but to the best of my memory the ministry school was composed of 4 parts, as follows:.
part 1: an "instruction talk".

Phizzy how true... there were some good teachers and some who had no clue. The "School Servant" job was one that most tried to get out of as you always had to be prepared and sometimes had to deal with several no shows on one night.

At one time there was an actual attempt to train speakers. Now they go through the motions and serve up spiritual pablum. Remember the old Qualified To Be Ministers book both the green and gray ones? There were subsequent iterations to attempt some semblance of training but like everything else a dumbing down continued. Do they actually have any training instruction or books now?
"Students" had counsel slips covering the various speak topics to be worked on and received ratings on their skills.
G - Good; W - Work on (at one time called Weak); I - Improved - If you had received a W on a point you were to work on that point twice receiving an "I" for the first go around and then hopefully a G on the second.

I found a reference in the Reasoning (rs) book, page 88, dating back to 1989 that begins to open the door to a change in thought. Says in essence a creative day was at least thousands of years long. References a quote about some rock formations being billions of years old.
I thought there was some reference to this in the book Aid to Bible Understanding, but didn't find it when thumbing through the spots where I expected to find something.
I know I remember reading a secondary article maybe in Awake that peaked my interest in that change. I marveled even then that they were sneaking in a change of thought.

by mickbobcat inwhen i was a kid in the late sixties the type of books we would study was very intense compared to the bull shit pablum that they put out today?

Then of course we have the 700 and some page Babylon the Great Has Fallen... God's Kingdom Rules with accompanying question booklet. How many times did we study through it? AT 16 I was a "book study conductor" during one of those runs. -

Havent gone to the kingdom hall in ten years but may have to go back...
by Joliette inmade a big mistake of talking about being raised as a jehovah's witness to some old friends and family.
people have told me that i am still a jws even though i've never been baptized.
i'm in school for social services, dealing with student loan debt, and a lot of other debt.

It is unfortunate that you're personal situation is causing you distress. Others here have given you some good counsel.
As to the dubs, going back will simply add to your distress. They will make you jump through hoops to become an approved associate (or whatever they are calling it these days). There are no meetings for you to attend in person to be able to have the love bombs dropped on you for a while until they tire of that. You'll have to complete the study of a book or two. No one will likely visit you in person as they are discouraged from visiting private homes due to Covid. My 91 year old mother, a second generation lifelong dub, hasn't seen one dub in person in almost a year. She gets an obligatory phone call about every six weeks from one sister and that's it.
Even if you decide to return you are probably going to need more effective assistance than can be found in a vacant Kingdom Hall.
