I like the song. In my adulthood, I grew to like country music, though always a rocker first.
This struck me - remembering when I was young, and talking to a friend about the Jehovah's Witness gurls. He said "They are so shiny and bright! That's what attracted me to you." (though I was out by then for a few years, i was still shiny, I guess)
The 'good' JW gurl does not smoke nor drink. She has the 'virginal' shyness and is unattainable - if she is pretty, every guy wants to make her into his Madonna/Whore. That is the way it goes .......
Also, the Jehovah's Witness gurls are up on current fashion - the competition for 'best in clothes' at the assemblies is legendary, and how could any average 'worldly' gurl compete? The JW gurl has nothing else in her life except her appearance, and her subservience to Jehovah and her lord and master Father or Husband.
Good song. Captures the spirit of the Jehovah's Witness gurl very nicely.

How to make the most of wife not going to service meeting?
by FadeToBlack inout of the blue, my wife told me that after this week's service meeting on friday (co visit) she is not going to anymore meetings during the week at night.
only sunday (am) meetings.
she explained that it is difficult and not safe for her to drive after dark (vision issues: i have the same problem so i couldn't help her if i wanted to).

My first thought was, and still is .......... ask her what *she* would like to do! Offer to make plans (most women love that) if she wants, but ask for suggestions. It's nice to have the details taken care of, which is usually left to the woman.

JW attitudes to women
by Frazzled UBM ini would be very interested to hear from you ladies on this one.
i know that the society keeps women in subjugation through the headship cr@p but didn't ahve any sense about hoew prehistoric the attitudes are until the other day when we were driving out of the supermarket car park and my wife spotted a woman dressed in tight shorts (it has been very hot here) and she commented 'they say that women who dress like that dserve to be raped'.
i did a wtf and overreacted 'how can you blame the victim like that - such attitudes give men a lciense to commit rape and make women feel they are to balme if they get raped which in turn means that rape doesn't get reported and it gopes on with impunity.

Paul was an uber-misogynist~! 3rdgen, I remember the denouncing of feminism in the 70s. It probably had a lot to do (well I know it did) with my embracing of feminism and equality even before I left the KH. Geez, I would whip up a talk EVERY Thursday night, downstairs after the meeting started, and fill in. I got perfect marks in everything, and at school, too. And what good was my mind to the Tower? NOTHING. Hey, I had an eating disorder, too. :)
So glad we are out of that hell on earth.
