That is pure judgemental thinking, and puts your mom, by default, on 'higher ground'. (At least in her own eyes, and those of other fundamentalists of various ilk).
She understands the temptations of the sin, but she is righteous enough to resist Satan's sins. Therefore, she does not respect the weak sinner, because the sinner has succumbed to Satan, and the temptations of the flesh! Sex!

which is a better attitude: I can't respect it, but I understand it or I cant understand it , but I will respect it?
by MissFit inso is it possible to understand a reason and not respect it?
shouldn't understanding lead to a respect of the reasons and actions?.
or can you respect the reasons and actions without understanding them?.

I was a poll worker
by Hortensia ini worked the election yesterday, here in california, poll worker, from 6 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. it was fun and interesting, went pretty smoothly, nice day.
it was very depressing to come home, look at the news, and find that the republicans now control the senate.. .
do you think canada would take me?

ahahaha @ smiddy!
I work at every election, sometimes as a poll worker (can't say that without smirking now, smiddy, love it hehehe), and THANKS! *puts hands on hips, and looks stern*, and others as a DRO (Deputy Returning Officer) which sounds like a big wheel but is nothing to write home about..
You're right. It's fun, good conversations, and easy money. It's a good way for the voting public to get involved, have a bit of fun, learn, and make a few bucks in the process. All things I like. *grins*

Why the WTBTS is liable for Sex Abuse Cases
by Coded Logic inthe problem isn't just that kids are getting raped by people in their congregation.
the problem's also that anytime someone has "serrious charges" brought against them the elders add notes to that jws publisher file.
and, if the elders don't take the matter to the police or, as is often the case, tell the victims families not to take it to the police either, this establishes a level of accountability.. take daniel fitzwater for example.

Separation of Powers, you quoted:
He said, "Penn State was more concerned about the BRAND Penn State then the innocent victim."
Penn State has always been considered an illustrious university with an illustrious sports program. When those things become more important than the victim, you have a serious problem with your moral compass. Well, what about the ORG? What's wrong with THAT moral compass?
This has been a tough blow to the sports culture, and well, at least some good has come of it. People like yourself sat back, thought about it, and said "What the ****?"
You speak truth. That is all we need to do, and the truth will out! Much love to you, for refusing to wear the 'blinders', and speaking out.

TD & Oubliette - a life well-lived, and that epitomizxes the spirit of ST in many ways. Very satisfying, and a man living by his craft which is most appealing in today's world. lol, maybe that's why I like Vash so much! What a woman. :D
ah, b00m, that is such a classic~! awesome.
Okay, I am going to go off now, and watch Tasha Yar's last episode on TNG. ;)

There are so many! "This Side of Paradise", in which Spock falls in love and is reduced to tears. is a favorite of the original. Of course, the Khan episode and resulting flick #2 "Wrath of Khan", can be watched over and over ........ TNG would have to be my favorite spin-off series, with DS-9 and Voyageur next. I just watched episodes 1&2 of DS-9, and enjoying watching the series again! It's been a long time. :D
It's hard to say fav episodes of any of the ST shows, indeed, the original had "Trouble with Tribbles" ,,,, Spock's arranged marriage episode "Live Long and Prosper" what a great one that was, and Captain "Jerk" had so many women - even a green one! :P Too many to choose just 'one'.

The Searcher said,
IMHO, the most perplexing aspect of the whole filthy process is the blind obedience to Elders by Witness parents.
If I had a child who was sexually assaulted by anyone, I would instantly report the matter to those who are competent to deal with crimes - the police! Why on earth would I want to report such an atrocity to a couple of window cleaners?????
If I came home to find a Witnesses had raped my wife or child, would I 'phone Brother Elderlord to ask for his advice?
Are so many Witnesses that brain-dead??????????
Waken up brothers - quickly, and see how your Glorious Ones couldn't care less about you or your family!! (Principle they follow = John 11:48)
I found out that an old friend I grew up with, and lived with his family as a teen, is one of those parents, after meeting his adult son through JWD. It was all I could do, to keep myself from storming to his house and DEMAND how he could allow this abuse of his CHILD? Not just allow, but conspire to cover it up! argghhh I used to think he was a gentle, harmless yet misled person. Now, I spit on him.

Consumer. I am much more than a consumer, and actually consume very little. It's depersonailzation at its finest.
Speaking of depersonalization:
Domestic violence vs wife / husband / child beatingSexual assault vs rape
Government Fees vs New Tax
the list goes on ....
:D
taliow, I hate bull shyte disguised as the newly sanitized versiions.

Is The Bible Now Obsolete - On Moral Standards?
by metatron insometimes, i feel like my life has been summed up by a grateful dead quote: "what a long strange trip it's been".. .
after many years as a witness, i discovered that i worked with gay people - and that they struggled to pay a mortgage and had pretty much the same problems as everyone else.
what was i concerned about?

Well said, metratron. The Bible, and its moral codes, are passe. Actually, in most countries, they are illegal!
It's true that the invention of the printing press and subsequent availability of the bible as a printed book, was one of the greatest contributions to modern civilization. It was the beginning of literacy as we know it. It's ironic, that. Kinda like how the JWS gained religious freedoms in the USA via the courts - but for their own selfish purpose.
