This stuck in my mind. I could see myself as a child, so longing to play with other kids, and realizing that there was no way. The only thing a child of that age. in *my* kind of born-in family, has to 'live' for is the approval of their parents. So, like the child in the vid, I pretended to be someone I was not, because I wanted my parents to love me.

This particular piece of propaganda really sickened me. The indoctrination of their children is one of the most despicable things that any cult does, from my pov.

So, yes, the snowman scene is disturbing, to say the least.

So, on a more positive note - I saw the JWS at their cart today, and said hi, took some pics. I asked "No Bibles?" No, we just sold the last one. [sold?] "The new Version?" Oh yes! "Oh, cool. Thanks, see ya."

Maybe, I could pose a question about this video that I saw online. I write the occasional article for local free rags, so no problem posing as a journalist. And I have no intention of posting any pics or ridiculing them in any way.

Looking for *thinking questions* re this video that would be something for the average JWS to chew on. Kind of a 'hmmm', provocative yet not unfriendly. :)

I like to do my own thing to fight the Tower. Writing to newspapers to let them know a JW child molester has been arrested, or to comment on an article; putting signs on the lawn of a KH or two; anti-Witnessing when appropriate (eg, when asked by health care workers why I have no NOK), picking up pamphlets in doctor's and hospital waiting rooms, and ensuring they are destroyed.

Why I remain one of Jehovah's Witnesses

allow me to begin with a clarification: when i say i am one of jehovah's witnesses, i don't mean that i am an advocate of the watchtower society or a devotee of some of its more controversial false teachings.

i mean that i am a christian, a disciple of jesus christ dedicated to jehovah god, and who remains in union with my brothers and sisters who make up the family of faith that globally refers to itself as jehovah's witnesses.

some totally understand the distinction between the family of brothers and sisters and the corporate organization known as the watchtower society (wts).

In Canada, failure to report child sexual abuse is a federal offence. So, many Canadian Jehovah's Witnesses are criminals. They have just not been charged and found guilty in a court of law. That's what criminals do - avoid prosecution.

We still have those crazies in my city, with their GD tambourines, chanting. They are annoying as hell, and yes, I remember the JWS making a big deal out of it.

I've met people who say "Oh, I know a JW" (I live in a small city, pop. about 600,000). So I ask them the JWS' name, and realize they were born in, but yeah, I knew them all my life, and they never were baptized, and haven't been to a KH in 35 years except for 'memorial services' and 'weddings'. Some of these people are my cousins.

Some of those people live in unwedded bliss, and are in no way, shape or form a 'real' JWS. When it comes to surveys and such, though, when asked their Religion, they say "Jehovah's Witness". That's what I think.

*Edit: And I think that's NORMAL. Most of my friends never go to church, but if they grew up RC,they might say they are RC. etc.

Paint Nite - fun evening and a new hobby

we (and by 'we', i mean my wife) decided that we should try something new and she, erm, i mean 'we', liked the idea of painting.

so i enthusiastically (i.e.

begrudgingly) went along for the night to the "pain nite" event she'd booked us for a couple of weeks ago.. the premise is pretty simple: it's held in a pub or restaurant, all the art supplies are provided, the instructor then walks you through how to reproduce a painting they have chosen for the night and you have a glass of wine or beer, do some painting, have something to eat, have some more wine, more painting, more wine, realize you are drinking the dirty paint water and so on.. here's the site: https://www.paintnite.com/.

I am guessing this is the Bob Ross method, using wet-on-wet. Loads of fun for all! I had a friend who was into that in the 80s, and gave it a try. Good stuff.

i've watched the reaction to the nepal disaster for the first time with eyes opened.

lots of comments about praying for the brothers and sisters affected.

the official release on the website references only the sister and her two children that died, along with the impact on the brothers there.

i would have to say i've seen more wicked elder-ettes and jw women than men, the women can hold grudges forever and they can't forgive even the smallest sin their fellow jw commit-ed against them!.

i wish i could share the details about my aunt and how evil she is and why all her brothers and sisters hate her with a vengeance.

the kingdom hall she attend's is the world's worst kingdom hall, it's created a poison that's killed off dozens of good witnesses who left the organization because the elder-ettes and their kiss-ass coat-tail riding followers treated everyone outside of their clique like shit!
