  Love the pic, and it makes a statement about you It takes a lot of love to care for the large parrots, and see them so healthy!

  That is the kind of thing that made me doubt religion, as a child. How could "god" allow cruelty to animals? As a lover of parrots, you know what cruel fates are dealt to hundreds, perhaps thousands, of black market birds.

  How do you reconcile such horrible things, with a god of love and kindness/ I am not being sarcastic - it was one of the main reasons that, even as a child of 10 or 11 , I could not truly believe in a god of love.

  So, I am curious to know, does that not give you pause?

  the more i think about it, the more i feel an extreme dislike for the apostle paul.

  he was on par with hitler in his treatment of the jews before he "saw the light".

  he replaced jesus teachings of love and mercy with a more legalistic, pharisaical concept of devotion to god.. any evil person can come to believe in god and worship him if the scales were literally and miraculously removed from his eyes.

  I never liked Paul - what a control freak, and hater of women. David is a close second, and I have to mention Job - what a spineless sack of shyte martyr! Go ahead, Jah, take all my joy, and torture me, BUT - I will still love you! Bah!

  Which leads to my all-time, most despicable character in the Bible - GOD ! Hey, you, God!! I do hate the concept of you. You are naught but an impotent illusion created in "man's image" to control the gullible, the ignorant and the weak.

  One of our members, Kwintestal, had a successful appeal.

  They df'd him for apostasy, in absentia. It was announced from the platform, and if memory serves me, he was notified by mail. Thing is, they had no 'witnesses', only rumour.

  He had his lawyer draft a letter to the BOE and yes, the DF was reversed. There is most likely a thread about it.

  people have varied and strong feelings about politics and wars, but you can't deny the courage a sacrifice of our veterans.

  too often they do not get the honor they deserve.

  in this country once they come home their sacrifice and heroism is too quickly forgotten.

  Although it is called "Veteran's Day" in the USA, and there is much hoopla about WWII, November 11 was established after the end of WWI, as the armistice was on the '11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month" as a memorial to fallen soldiers in the British Commonwealth of Nations. The date is the same, but here, it is "Remembrance Day", in memory of all fallen soldiers.

  To all veterans, I honour your service. To all those currently serving, your safe return home is what I want.

  It is our job, as civilians, to (as the Brits would say) keep the home fires burning, and hold the politicians' feet to the fire, to stop the senseless slaughter of war, which is motivated not by humanitarian efforts, but greed and lust for power. My hope is that we shall evolve socially, and eventually stop the insanity. xx

  Please keep in mind that English is not everyone's first language. Online translators don't work for idiomatic expressions. I figured allocated meant exactly that ,,, changed, etc.
  
  Thanks for the update from Italy, LaFrancia. The WTS is shutting down a lot of its operations, and it seems to be affecting all western countries.

  I had a talk with my JW relative who is secretly in touch. S/he said that in the last year or so, there have been more changes in the b'Org than there have been in 25 years. Agreed!

  Is the Tower crumbling? Indeed.

  i wanted to send you a note of "thanks" on this special day.. why is this day special, you may ask?

  one year ago today, you, tony, woke me up to the fact that the governing body could not have jehovah's blessing or direction.. last year, on november 8th & 9th, 2014, the united states branch visit was broadcast to over 1,000,000 jehovah's witnesses across the country.. as i sat at the kingdom hall listening to the "historic occasion," i was ignoring certain doubts that had surfaced in the few months prior.

  i am inclined to start this thread in response to some comments made in other threads.

  i have been coming around these forum for quite some time now so whatever you find in here is not just related to something someone may have said this week.

  it can go months back as well.. i have seen many who claim to respect the belief of others but when it comes down to applying it into practice, things take a whole different tune.

  i was just explaining to mrs picard........ never a jw, and not english, how we used to celebrate the harvest festival, when i was 7 and younger, before my parents converted to jw'ism.. i loved to sing "we plough the fields and scatter".

  of course, singing such hymns is, to a jw, paramount to apostasy,with the death penalty like punishment the ensued.. how really stupid their harsh rules.. did you have any favourite hymns?.

  i think we would all agree, that they beat the pants off the "kingdom melodies".

  tonight on the abc network (in the usa) they will be doing an in depth interview with leah remini who was a scientologist for 30 years.

  i saw a preview and there is a lot of talk about shunning.

  She is a brave person. Not only confronting the cult, but bucking a lot of powerful people in Hollywwod.

  I'm looking forward to seeing her interview. She seems to be a person who finds it hard to deceive, and speaks truth. GO LEAH!
