maverick - didn't read the whole thread, but
maybe you are just choosing to hang with the wrong females (??????????????)
are you confused?
have you asked your lady friends and female relatives what you are doing wrong and even though you have followed their advice, you are still confused?
have you asked your girl friends what they want and done it and still not know what is going on?

i would ask for donations to help this place run without costs to the owner.....and you?
quit - because i just don't have the energy to undertake a project this big!
tks, simon et al
i now have enough recipes to start putting this cookbook together.
129 recipes.
since we will be putting this on the internet with the hopes that other people besides us will buy it what do we want to say.
how abt "cooking free"? the unwary will think it's fat-free, and those in the know will get to chuckle at the name.
tonight i saw a commercial on tbs.
there were three people in an elevator, an older woman, a man, and a child.
as customary in elevators, everyone nodded to greet one another.
you are surely right, my friends, when you say our society fosters child abuse.
we are constantly bombarded by ads that emphasize the attractiveness of youth. sexual predators are encouraged by our lack of vigilance. ads are constantly bombarding us with sexual images of children.
one at a time, we can change this - don't let your sadness overwhelm you. we need to be strong and of good cheer to fight back!! yes, let's acknowledge what's going on. we can change it though, one person at a time. (the hundredth monkey, etc.)
hi everyone, i've been a long time lurker, and now a first-time poster.
just wondering if anyone here is an old friend.
i grew up in delaware, ohio.
well come. i'm not from your part of the globe so i probly don't know you personally.
however, let's get philosophical. maybe i really do 'know' you because of shared past knowledge and experience (if you are a jw or ex-jw, that is). maybe i understand who you are and a bit about how you think. so that will create a great base for future friendship, knowledge.
what do you think?
i did radio broadcast for about 20 years.
whereas i am thinking of doing it again, i hope that it doesn't come down to it.
unless i can do morning drive again.
hey, if you folk really miss broadcasting, why not get involved with a community based station like the one i work at? there's no controlling, you can build your show however you want. i live in a v small city - i wud be surprised if that option is not available to you.
... just a thought
1975. the end of 6000 years of man's existence, and logically, therefore, the start of the 1000 year reign, which meant that armageddon had to be done and dusted before that.. i remember it well!
the hype at assemblies, my dad giving up his job and selling his home to move where the "need was great", now minimised by mother with her "oh so you're another seventy-fiver are you" comments.. now it's just something that occasionally embarrasses jw's, some of them deny it ever happened, others think that it was all too long ago to be relevent.. maybe we need to put 1975 into a slot where we can all relate to it.
maybe those of us who remember that year could chip in as well.. so, what did happen in 1975?
i remember veenstra well - he is good friends with my parents. as far as 1975 is concerned, well. that is the year i left the jw at the tender age of 17.
it had more to do with their abuse (i think) than the date. but now i look back and realize that my logic stepped in and took care of me.
veenstra - may he and many others rot in hell (not that i believe in it, heh heh, it just feels good to picture them there!!!!)
i just got another mental prodding.
i overheard my mum and dad talking in the hall this morning (its their assembly weekend) and i couldnt believe what i heard.
they were talking rather intensly about how you would never get girls in the world like you do in the truth and started bleating on about how loose those worldly people are.
you're welcome, bw. it took me years to realize that my parents were misguided. it took me a few more years to get them to realize that i was NEVER coming back. but they are still trying at times. go figure.
if your parents still love you, that is what i consider a bonus. i just take them for who they are, love the parts i love. if i need support i go elsewhere.
just glad i could support you a bit. things will be better when you move out. when you are really lonely, just get all the support you can. it gets better, it really does!!!
hugs,
happy birthday e-man!!
since having joining this forum i have met many a kind person.
you are a lovely friend and i enjoy reading your insights!.
cassi - tks for the welcome. i've been reading your posts with ng and you are an amazing person.
xjw-b12 - what an awesome b'day greeting - can i get one of those when mine comes around?
englishman - you often seem to step into conversations with a bit of wisdom and a lot of care in how you say things. once again, happy b'day and i'm happy you're here. you're one of the folk that makes me feel safe sharing stuff on this board. thanks a lot! and another happy 57 to ya!!!!
(gotta go buy myself a guiness, too, so i can share this happy b'day. any excuse will do ... heh heh)
i'm sure we have all heard this comment millions and millions of times.. "oh, we don't do that because its pagan origin".
whether it be christmas, thanksgiving, easter, birthdays, etc etc.. so who exactly were the pagans and when and where did they live ???.
they must have been worse then sodom and gomorrah.. so what things are pagan that the jw's may not think are ???????.
i'm sure someone will correct me if i am wrong (and many thanks to you in advance), but i believe that 'pagan' is the term the jw's use to identify anything/anyone they feel is a non-christian activity/sect/thinking. kinda like the rc's during the inquisition.
as far as to what activities should be added to the list of what they consider pagan. well, very little (if none) of what they say is based on logic, so i would not be able to offer any opinion as to what they may consider 'pagan' from day-to-day. to some elders, having a moustache is pagan. and you may ask - "DO I CARE?" to which i would reply resoundingly "GDit, NO!!!!!"
btw, i have some friends who identify themselves as 'pagan'. they consider it to mean that one follows a type of worship that involves the earth and the 'goddess' (ie, celebrating solstice, wicca and other ancient rituals and religions of pre-christian or other-than-christian people).
