i haven't to a meeting in about 2 or so months and tonight one of the local elders came to visit me.. he goes on about, how he and the hall misses me and loves me.
and they want to go back to the meetings, "it must be a teenager thing, everyone went thru it, but i know that you will be back.
" i was thinking to myself, you don't know that i'll be back, and i don't plan on it either.
smyler,
WELCOME
Sounds like you have it together. Be strong, don't let them get to you. I am here in NS, too. If you want to talk, PM me.
missylissy,
WELCOME
Are you JW too? You've come to the right place, lots of support here.
prim,
hey, nice to hear from you, how goes it?

it's not your fault, it's not your fault, it's not your fault
NOT, NOT, NOT, NOT, NOT, NOT
HE IS THE PARENT, YOU ARE THE CHILD
This is the last guilt trip he could lay on you, after all the abuse. (imho)
Get some professional help, sweetie.
IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT.

have any of you on this forum, ever met up with anyone considered famous?
i've met a great deal of people over the years.
one of my most memorable: dennis leary, drinking a few pints with him as he sang "margaritaville" from the jukebox.
I worked on a Kelsey Grammer flick and he was really nice, just got to say hi to him.
Myles Goodwin of April Wine - met him a few times.
I also got a big smile and hi from Kiefer Sutherland at the Atlantic Bowl a few years back - what a hunk!
There was a country singer - man, I can't remember his name, who was at one of the local clubs after his concert. Anyhow, I was there with a few friends - we had been at a dance. He sent his bodyguard over to ask me if I wanted to go back to his hotel 'for a drink'. I told the guy I wasn't a hooker, and didn't go to motel rooms with strangers.
Then my friends were "do you know who that was?" I still can't remember his name - he has blond hair, always wears skintight jeans. Greasy, imho. Not Alan Jackson, but ... whatshisname? He sings very honky-tonk style. Oh well, I'll think of it. Okay, it was Dwight Yoakum (sp?) ICK.

just wanted to share with you the results of our monthly get together here in vancouver, b.c.
five of us showed up which was down from last month, but the reasons for those unable to make it today were family responsibilities and such, so the desire to meet is still strong.
we had a great time yakking and laughing and just generally having a marvelous time.
alfie
sounds like a good time - I would like to go to a meetup here in Halifax, maybe eventually, someday, when I get up my nerve.

instead of making the difference known that anyone not a jehovah's witness is "worldly", i think we should simply refer to them as "normal".
normal
nope, not me, i'm different and proud of it.
I like the sentiment, though, min, and I agree wholeheartedly.
and by the way, what's wrong with being 'worldly', now that we think about it. Are we not 'of the world' of folk? So maybe it is a label we should wear proudly?
... just a thought.

Trying to portray him as a blithering idiot while in office is pretty sad
My comments were about my shock and feelings. I'm allowed to have them, and you're not addressing my question, you're just being plain nasty.
newsflash: Reagan's disease is not recent news. I heard this years ago, when CLINTON was newly-elected. So that's not "3 presidents later". They announced it because he was showing symptoms and that means he had the disease for quite some time (do a little research).
And yes, it was a respectful question - it scared the hell out of me, and I am interested in other people's takes on this. Especially Americans cause it is your country and you would have (one would think) the most informed opinions.
Oh, and I am not 'picking' on old rotten ronnie, I'm trying to solicit rational comments about something I found quite shocking.
you are not going to stir me up about this - if you wanna be nasty go ahead cause
I DON'T GIVE A RAT'S A** about people who can't respond to an honest question rationally and politely.
I'm done with this thread.

well this is about as real as it gets.
in about an hour my son will be appearing before a judicial committee for the second time in as many weeks.
unfortunately i just happen to be about 3000 miles away right now (business trip) so i cant be there for support and i cant get the ancillary information that i would normally get just by being present.
he would lose virtually all his friends in an instant
They are not his friends, only sad brainwashed people who love 'conditionally'. At first this would be hard on him, but in the long run he will be able to learn how to make 'real' friends.
I went through the same thing at 20, with no parental/family support, the SOBs were really rough on me, no forgiveness, no compassion.
If this happens he will still have you, his Dad. He may be able to heal his depression if out of the Borg, although initially it will be hard.
whatever happens, good luck with it. keep us posted
sending lots of good energy to your family in this time of crisis
