it borders burma and bangladash and shares borderzones with xizang (tibet).. the architect of modern china, deng xiaoping, came from a middle class sichuan family, who sent him to france, sponsored by a group called the diligent work-frugal study movement, a work and study program, which sponsored some 4000 young chinese by 1927. young deng was only 15. why did he do this.

What beautiful pictures and thank you! I have a friend from the Sichuan (sp?) province, and she and her husband own a restaurant. It's called "The Hungry Chili", and the best in town for authentic Chinese. If you want *real* heat, you ask for the Chinese version, otherwise, they modify the items a bit for North American tastebuds.

Anyhow, she told me something I found so interesting about the chili peppers. Each village or small area has their own variety of chili peppers- she gets her mother to send her a supply from her home town, once a year. I just thought that was so cool. :)

Anyone know of df'ing for taking a br. to Court (esp. if Cdn)?

most jw's have been told that taking a fellow jw to court is wrong.. the shepherd book uses wts speak: "if an individual ignores god's word on this matter, it may affect his congregation privileges.

" (italics theirs.).

Many years ago (1970s), my BIL, an accountant, embezzled a bunch of money from his clients. One of them was an elder, a really nice guy (I used to board with their family). He reported the theft to the police, and because he turned in a 'brother', he lost all his privileges. Actually, after losing his business, and being shamed in front of the whole congregation, he picked up and moved the family back to Ontario.

My BIL went to prison and was disfellowshipped. He was also gay and in the closet - that all came out at the time (no pun intended), so I'm not sure if he was DF for being a thief or gay.

China wasn't too concerned about their poor when preparing for the Beijing Olympics. Millions of people were thrown out of their homes. Like Western governments, they don't give a **** about the poor. I guess this anti-poverty initiative is good public relations, of course.

i remember vivid scenes in kingdom halls and in the homes of jws who used extreme measures to discipline their children.

Whether it's about NFL PR or not (I think it is), it's a good thing.

Children are not possessions, and being beaten with a switch is extremely painful. Unlike 'mandatory counselling', this will hit daddy where it hurts. As for hurting the family by his suspension? If he can't coast for a few months, wel, maybe he should take a money-management course. I have no sympathy for people who beat their children/spouses/animals.

i've been a lurker for quite some time and enjoy the forum.

i've reached a point in life where i don't argue ideologies anymore so i don't have much to say.

i've been out for decades and believe i've been mostly de-cultabilized (if that's even a word).. my family is still in and i haven't had contact with them in years.
