  No More Anonymity

  i have posted at this site for over two years.

  i have posted nearly 6,000 posts here, and for the most part i've posted as francois, or i've not identified myself with a screen name at all.

  i've never directly identified myself.

  Another one here un-named for "family reasons".... for the older posters you may remember me, because I "showed my @$$" on here once.... literally. But I was later discovered by family members, and forced not to post... I couldn't resist, so I "lurked" for months, and returned with a new I.D.

  I am about to reach my "objective" though, with my family, and after that, I will post my name, and map to my front door. I leave tomorrow morning to meet these family members and make my case with them. I have compiled much information (Thank you all for your help) and I will either succeed or fail.... don't think there will be any "middle of the road". If I blow it... then... there is only vengence left??? I will either make my father see what is going on... or I will make his devotion to them stronger.

  And I think it is particularly important as a female on the internet to not reveal too much personal information. Too many weirdos are out there.

  Regaurdless of the J.W. issue.... this is a wise thing, for the ladies or single folks.

  Shunning and Laws against incitement to hatred based on Race and Religion

  in the uk we have a law that seeks to protect against incitement of racial or religious hatred.

  i think this may be a european law and so the scope may be a lot wider.

  it is clear that the wtbs policy on da/df people is incitement and it may be argued that it is on the basis of religious views.

  One could certainly argue for this, but it would be a bad argument because it would be tantamount to arguing that any and all criticism of anything amounts to inciting hatred or discrimination. It is not "inciting hatred" to tell a story about one's perceived abuse by an organization. It is not discriminatory to point out the flaws in an organization.

  You are of course right Alan F. I just didn't understand if this law (which I still dont know the specifics of) would be a help to a Disfellowshipped witness? It seems that the law would more protect a witness from being discriminated against by NON witnesses... not a discrimination within this organisation...(which Mustang seems to have a handle on).

  I dunno.... I would like to see this law word for word.

  I would like to know more about the specifics of this law... but it sounds like something that could be used BY the witnesses, rather than AGAINST them.

  I mean, one could argue(and some have) that this web-site is inciting "hatred" or "discrimination" against the dubs.

  Would be awful if Simon, was put on Britains "ten most wanted criminals" list for inciting "religous Hatred". (you baaad ol puttytat)

  Again, I don't know the specifics, but it is an interesting topic to investigate. I always wondered why none of the child "welfare" laws applied, to where you are going with this though.

  ok so I fell asleep waiting for you to type this up.... but your name suits you Amazing.... You handled this very well, and hopefully they will both look into their "beliefs" a little deeper. I haven't reached the stage of throwing any doubt onto them yet, but when I do, I hope I can remain as calm and well put together as you did..

  How would you explain jws to a non-jw?

  in the past, when i've been talking about being a witness they haven't really understood just how much of an impact it has on your life unless they've been one too.

  whats the best way to explain it to someone who has never been a witness and had little contact with them?

  i'm more thinking of how much control there is over your life, and the reason why a lot of witnesses feel down and suffer from depression, ect.. gadget

  I was about to post this very question. I am taking my wife this weekend to meet my parents for the first time after many years. I have tried to explain it to her, and she listens whole-heartedly....

  I try to tell her that one cannot simply read a scripture to a JW and expect that to get through to them. Nor can you simply say to a JW..."Sorry I have my own religion". I told her how they go to meetings on wed/thurs night and learn how to "comeback" to every answer you give them.

  My wife just doesnt understand the concept of living in the same house with your parents and not being allowed to talk to your little sister, or the fact that I am not welcome to actually come into my parents home.... (we are meeting in a Hotel, so I don't taint the christian home)

  But I had to have a talk with my father, about not bringing up religion on this little weekend venture. Of course I want him to approve of my wife, she is lovely... but she might eat him for breakfast if he suggests that I bring our son into this thing, or even suggests that Christmas is wrong... the wife spends about three-thousand dollars on my son every christmas... she LIVES to see the smile on his face. (yes he is a spoiled "only" child... and I for one am quite happy that he will never know the life I had to live when I was his age)

  It makes me absolutley sick -- the problem is I just can not read a Watchtower or Awake magazine now with an open mind - I am alwys thinking "What lies am I being told now?"

  Reading the Watchtower with an "open mind" is like walking into a whore-house without a condom.... DON'T DO THAT! And about this thread....I am so happy to see people figure out these things on their own. NOW you know. This deceit thing is not new. Good Work Assassin... now talk about it... to everybody you know. Show it to people, and Talk about it. And when they come to your door... confront them with it. ---puttytat

  I am a little worried....

  my mother had ovarian cancer, her mother died of breast cancer, one of my father's sisters had colon cancer.

  i had bleeding every two weeks for about a year myself, and now i have abdominal swelling and kidney pain, difficulty urinating(been blaming the lupus--but none of the tests are showing anything wrong!

  ) i look like i am pregnant the swelling is so bad.. i am having this test done next thursday.

  Do not put this off any-longer... please. Demand a female doctor! This is important. Male doctors are fine for toe-nail fungus, and indigestion... and that is about it, where you ladies are concerned.

  I hope things turn out for the best Ravyn. I will light a candle for you tonight.
