From my experience, the higher the rank/theocratic title is, the less 'humane' is it's bearer. There are exceptions of course, but that's kind of a trend, IMHO

Governing Body vs Local Elder Body
by Boredposter inshortly before my exit a youngish elder who recently came from brooklyn bethel commented to me how the local elder meetings were like the wild wild west.
according to him in brooklyn there was a very definite way to handle things.
he seemed to imply the brooklyn bethel way was better.. after seeing gb member splaines video about how elders could come to an united decision i was reminded of this.. i had to wonder about this then and i wonder now.

Example of sensitive data – should I be worried?

i’d like to know: should i be worried?.

I just described what we were told at the KH - I'm not saying it's true or lies (basically, it's usual wording games).
But, why should PIMI r&f even care, after all - if they're ready to die and let their children die for the sake of following 'theocratic instructions'. I don't think majority of PIMI can suspect smth bad from the GB

Today’s meeting and CO visit
by Addison0998 inthe meeting today was quite disturbing as usual and had to endure 2 talks by yet another egotistical, pompous co who gives talks like a hardcore southern baptist, but people adore no matter what crazy shit spews from their mouth.
today, he talked about jesus illustration about how if your eye or hand stumbles you, remove it.
he went into gory detail about how somebodies eye ball is pulled out from their head, and what it takes to cut someone’s hand off...perhaps even with a pocketknife...in front of many small children in the audience.

I remember quite a few years ago hearing our elder saying 'unbaptized publishers are worldly people'. It was a bit offending to me as an unbaptized publisher that time, but it didn't raise red flags at the moment, unfortunately - because of me being fully indoctrinated

but what does TLDR mean?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TL;DR
:)
it was my personal summary of what's going on now for those who won't surf the other similar threads.
In our congregation, the elders just gave it to everyone after the mid-week meeting, and said it was about sharing our names and address with the Society, and mentioned there are more details on jw.org.
Literally no one in our cong asked a question, or looked worried about it. No discussions as far as I know.
I guess you should know how it feels if you have experience of 'voting' resolutions at the KH (I wonder if the history knows of a single case of not approving a resolution)

For those interested whether this arrangement has already started - there is a similar topic:
TLDR: yes, it's already started, r&f don't care as usually.

Appointments
by asp59 inhow big you think the percentage of reaching out for appointments in organization is base on:.
a brother wanted receive praise from other'sb wanted to marry thought having appointment would make that possiblec wife push him if he was marriedd pressure from other'se a career pathf possibility to dominate/control othersg he wanted to have appointment cause of love and wanted to help others..

From my experience, there are 'brothers' who are really sincere in trying to help others, but can't tell they are the majority among MS or elders. For them, like pale.emperor mentioned it takes way longer to transfer to the 'next level' - becoming an elder, but it happens nevertheless.
Other reasons seems to be quite popular, as well. But the most important is the jw land system encouraging that. I'd name it under D) peer pressure

Russia is on the firm way to it's next catastrophe. For too long, nothing serious happened inside this land of darkness and swamps.
Let's just keep watching, and see what happens. Situation with JWs and their property is just one small piece of the evil things operating there (and spreading from there throughout many parts of the world).

There is No Way Out For Me
by Addison0998 ini have come to the conclusion that there is no way for me to ever leave.
although i have some friends at work, my whole social structure are witnesses.
even if i move congregations, my parents have contacts everywhere who will tell them if i’m not active.

It's hard to give an advice, but if I were you, I would 100% avoid marrying a jw (at least not a PIMO/POMO). As far as I can understand, the family is super important to you (and it's really normal, as to me). Maybe, fake just a 'spiritually weak' jdub - not telling you don't buy all this crap, meanwhile trying to make a family with non-jw, have kids, real family - then you'll have a stronger positions for negotiations with your parents and other jw members of the family - and you won't be left devastated/alone in case your 'fading' efforts fail and they even decide to shun you.

GDPR: help for PIMOs
by Fay Dehr inwe urgently need to offer "resistance strategy" help to pimos who are likely to be harassed by elders seeking their consent for wtbt$ to leech their data.
what questions could pimos ask elders, that elders would be unable to answer?
(thus buying time, because elder would need to "check with branch").

Has anyone (PIMO, I guess) here had real experience with being offered to sign that GDPR form? We've recently received those blanks at the KH. I'm hesitating about how much red flags it will raise about me, if I refuse signing it. Don't plan a real 'coming out' at the moment for my personal reasons - and I'm trying to evaluate on what is 'lesser evil' in this case. -

this form is just a joke comparing to what one should sign to participate in KH building - there you actually are expected to excuse any damage to your health/life without any compensation from the BORG. And the risk of being injured during the construction process is pretty high, especially given the safety rules not being that perfectly followed - contrary to the jw myth about that.
