What is the current pulse in the organization with the reductions?
by SouthCentral ini have not seen jehovah’s witnesses in my neighborhood for several years now.
it appears that the cart witnessing has taken over.
congregations are being consolidated and witnesses are being forced to travel a greater distance than before.the burdens/privileges of elders seem to be ever increasing!.

It depends on a person. There are still genuinely zealous jdubs (mostly sisters), especially in the areas 'where the need is great' or foreign groups; but overall trend is that people learn to 'doublethink' and not care much about the religion. The elders don't know the Bible well, even the Borg's interpretation - they mostly try to keep up with 'tight-pants style' instructions from GB and Bethel. -

stillMS - you seem to be defending WT a lot.
Where have you seen me defending the Borg? Are Mormons in Russia?
Of course, there are mormons in Russia - but they're quite outnumbered (20k+ as they claim), and totally strange to Russians mentality. They're generally not known to public and don't get much attention from government. Here are some differences between JW and Islam/Christianity.
Thanks for reminding that to me, but most of the 'traditional' religions/sects have their own harmful rules and practices, in many cases even worse than that of the Borg (in no way I am justifying it).Anyway, I am curious to hear what your grand conspiracy theory is behind Russia targeting the JW's as you put it.
No conspiracy here. It's quite evident for those who know Russian people. Putin is not a person strange to Russians - he personifies the desires of the Russians as a people (if it wasn't him, they would find another one like him). I won't describe those desires here (it's kinda off-topic), but one of those desires is to persecute 'sects' (non-Orthodox), and jws are just the most famous and irritating to people. And modern Russian Orthodox 'church' (which is controlled by intelligence -NKVD/KGB/FSB - since it's very foundation by Stalin during WW2 till these days) hasn't missed its chance to use a 'friendly' government (FSB controlled) to enact legislation against the ones they disgust. The only idea I'm emphasizing in my posts is that in no way current Russian government cares about things totally strange to them (like human rights, justice, citizens well-being, etc) when enforcing laws against jws. It's just a small part of what they do these days (creating a safe environment for their power and the money they get from this power - same like Borg's 'us versus them' mentality, but far worse, because brainwashed Russians already go killing tens of thousands of people and literally destroying lives of millions). That's my point - as briefly as I could. -

The watchtower played with fire and got burned. Nuff said.
Other churches/sects/ of Islam, Christianity and other religions (and Russia itself) have also been playing with fire for quite longer than Borg - let's see if they got burned, as well.
Smelling the Great Tribulation thing ;)

So tell me which of those things they deemed extremism are invalid in those kangaroo courts that you describe?
Do you not agree that courts in Russia are 'kangaroo'? Really?Regarding your links - I'm glad you can use google, but you're twisting with the facts. I don't have time to flood the post with google links, but I've been following development of JWs treatment in Russia since 2000's, and I remember the ridiculous 'expert' decisions on borg's literature to call'em 'extremist'. Based on those ridiculous decisions, they went ahead, and first called local congos 'extremist', then proceeded to calling branch an 'extremist' org, finally (at the moment) they called all JWs extremists and started persecuting them practically as terrorists. The rest of the accusations you name were mostly for discussion in media, and not for enforcing the current ban.

Russia did target the wrong behavior. The shunning, the extreme practices and teachings. Since borged refused to remove the bad things, they were banned.
Are you joking? Or just making things up on the fly?
In what universe Russia targeted Jdubs wrong behavior? Have you ever looked at what their kangaroo FSB 'courts' called extremism?
And now, after the ban, they treat Jdubs almost as terrorists (words game - 'extremism'/'terrorism') - which is far from the truth, despite all vile teachings and practices borg indeed has. At the same time, Russian government sponsors, gives weapons and organizes real terrorists throughout the world.

It's such a joke to listen lectures on morals and anti-extremism from Russian government and its media. Not much better than taking lectures from ISIS about human rights.

@DATA-DOG, I'm not sure what info you've got about Russia (it depends on the info sources you use), but, it is indeed worse than most people on this planet even imagine.
As an example of what they think about religion - you may want to have a look at the fresh video from one Russian propaganda youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3f3PqvP5qg , where Russian proxies on the occupied Ukrainian territory persecute even baptists (I'm not an expert on the Baptist church, but anyway), while at the same time supporting Russian Orthodox church (founded and controlled by Russian intelligence) famous for its usage in direct war propaganda, direct support/providing of Russian/pro-Russian terrorists in Eastern Ukraine, etc.
It's a criminal-totalitarian state, and I'd be very careful before supporting any of their action (given their constant lies).

cofty - surely, you have every right to ignore my view of this world cup's location, as well as thousands war casualties and several millions lives ruined in some strange distant country (a country that had voluntarily abandoned its huge nuclear arsenal in exchange for 'superpowers' guaranties of security - so stupid of it, isn't it?), and just about three hundred civilian Europeans/Aussies/Malaysians killed by Russia's government (who really cares - ah?).
But I guess I also have the right not to be excited about this 'sports' event - especially given the title of this thread (quite a provocative one, as to me).
Enjoy yourselves!
