well today is my wonderful husbands' birthday.. when we were first together he didn't want presents, cake, no celebration at all.. last night he was so excited about his gifts he opened one in the middle of the night.
he wants pizza for his birthday dinner and to go out for ice cream instead of a birthday cake.. i just feel happy that he's come so far and doesn't see birthdays as some evil happening.. wg

Can JW's take vacations.....from the truth?

when jw's want a vacation, they have to go someplace to justify that they aren't at the hall.
so often we hear that brother of sister "x" went to hawaii for 3 weeks, and everybody is happy.. but, if a jw doesn't have the money to take a real vacation, but just wants to take, lets say 3 weeks off, and stay at home without going to any meeting, can it be done without questions asked, just like the couple going to hawaii?.

Update on Dad
by muse ini posted recently asking for support (which i got tons of - thanks) as dad was going to have an operation to remove a cancerous polyp in the colon.
well, last weekend he got rung up and told to get to the hospital fast - they had found a clot in a vein in the chest.
as the clots were caused by the polyp they decided to operate last sunday.

I am pleased to tell you all that he is fine. There was minimal blood loss and his haemaglobin was only down slightly
That is just wonderful news. My thoughts are wth you and your family.
- and the reason was that they were keeping in touch with their children who were either disfellowshipped or 'fallen away'. They did not want to 'shun' anymore.
Woe, more good news. I have actually seen a bit of a trend with this, out in my neck of the woods too. Guess some of the old timers are just having a hard time with the harhness of it all.
Mum also told me that the 1914 generation change shook a lot of the 'older' ones. I also think that had a lot to do with it.
Ths is good to hear. You hope that this is what is happening, but its good to actually hear it confirmed. -

Cautionary Tale - Removing Trousers and Socks!!!!!!

i bust my finger on saturday while removing my trousers and socks at the same time.
you know how you can get a bit lazy and slip your socks off at the same time as removing pants - well i did that but i got my middle finger stuck in my sock.

Potty Mouths?
by Low-Key Lysmith inwhen i got out of the dumbs, i use to cuss non-stop i think as a pathetic tactic to make worldy people think i was a little more worldy.
i still swear from time to time, and foul language does not offend me at all, but i was talking to my sister the other day, she just turned 21, has discovered alcohol, is currently on public reproof, and i think is really close to being on her way out herself.
she cursed like a sailor the whole time i was talking to her.

Well, what the fU*K can I say? I am trying like HE*L to work on this SH*T but it is so God da*M hard.
Like everyone else said, guess cuz it was another one of the millions of things we could not do as a dub. It's a form of rebellion for me. But seriously, I have been working on stopping, for the sake of my kids. I cant necessarily discipline them for saying something, that they learned from me.

Doodle V, you just reminded me. Once my little brother was tryng to get out of going to the meeting, and he said he got his period. Needless to say, my parents did not quite buy it. Poor little kiddos, would try to use any old excuse. Whatver works.
