Has anyone else ever wondered about.........
by t297crazy inhi i have been reading everyone's posts for a few days.
i've been away from being jw for about 10 years, but only recently has it occured to me what a bunch of crap the whole thing is... i am still young, and so therefore it seems odd to me that all of my family are strong jw's.
especially my dad he was an elder), who i always associated with being a very intelligent person.

How could my parents really believe all of this stuff? Does anyone else have a problem believing their parents really buy into this or what?
I drive myself nuts, asking myself this question. I mean, my parents are so intelligent, about other things. Just tonight I called them up to ask about something medical, and they are wise. So why??? Why did they fall for this crap? yes, you are not alone, sometimes I just get so frustrated thinking about this, I literally have to tell myself to stop it, and think about something else.
Yes, I think the fact that they have invested so much time and energy into it, must keep them in involved now. Their status, being an elder, the wife of an elder, I think that has alot to do with it too. The importance of it all, the being a "somebody". But still, I think love for their children should be stronger than this. oh well.

Netty, would you believe that these same bands used to play FOR FREE at Love Field in Dallas after they closed the airport and turned it into a rockfest every weekend?!!!!!......well....maybe not styx....but a lot of others we know and love.
No way! I absolutely love how they are now bringing these great bands back in concert. Were gonna see ZZ top here in October, and guess I just missed the eagles, dang it! And Queen, reminds me of the only witness boy I ever had a crush on...

How did you get the "troof"?
by dorayakii ini was assimilated at birth... .
my maternal grandparents came to england in the early 1940s, and learnt the troof here.
my grandfather opposed my grandmother for a while, but then he decided it wasn't worth the fight and studied the blue "troof book" and my grandparents got baptised at the same assembly.

Wow, that really takes big ones; to do what your mom did. You definately need to nip this in the bud, cuz that is just plain wrong. She actually thinks she has some power here. Stand up to her, in no uncertain terms. I get what you are saying, about not penalizing your son, but on the other hand, I would take a break from good ol' grandma right now. A few weeks, whatever the case may be. And let her know, that IF there is to be next time, she had better play by your rules.
I know thats a hard thing to do, we all have a hard time with the thought of standing up to our parents. But that is pretty blatant. I had to recently demand that my mother no longer preach to my kids while they are with her, so I know its hard. But you know what, is she wants to see her grandkids, she better abide by my wishes. And I do know better, because I ask my kids.
Sorry you are going through this. Be strong!

"Jehovah's Witness School"
by Jacinta ini posted my experience on this board and took for granted that some may have never heard of the jw school.
i don't know if they exist in every state (apparently not), but the one i went to is named new world education center.
all of the teachers had to be baptized jws and the principal as well.

Guess I missed the post you are referring to. But for any doubters, I can confirm that there was definately such a thing. My family, 5 brothers and sisters, all attended here in Tucson for one year. It was also called the new world education center. We started the day off with an assembly, and sang a song out of the song book.
But we had alot of kids in the school. There were at least 10 in my class, and there was a class for each grade, elementary anyway. Didnt teach us much though, we only went for one year, and when we went back to public school, we had to catch up. My brother even had to repeat a year.

Elder Condemned Me to Death
by Grace ini have been thinking about this because of another post where the question asks have any of us ever been blackmailed to stay in the watchtower organization.. no, i won't say i was blackmailed; however, after i wrote my note of disassociation, the congregation overseer wanted to visit me in my home with two other elders.
i repeatedly said no, that i would not allow them to chastise me in my own home.
therefore, all of my conversations were over the phone with the overseer.

My mother told me that, not only was I going to die at Armegeddon because I am not serving Jehovah, but that my children would too. Nice hu?
