I am not as sick now as I was say 4 years ago. But there were several years where I was so physically ill, I could not even lift my hand to brush my hair. Name it, I had it fibromyalgia, thyroid disease, panic attacks, irritable bowel syndorome, the list goes on. One doctor I went to go see about all this asked me "if you had your way, what career would you have right now" (I worked then and still do) I said I would not work, I am miserable in my life because I want to be a stay at home mom, and ther'es no way we can afford for me to quit working. It was then that I realized the correlation between mothers who are miserable because they have to work, and how that somehow destroys our health.
I managed to find a job in my organization that is part time, and my health has improved, almost a full turn around.
Has anyone else experienced this, or something similar?

A womans tears
by Maverick inthis is really for the guys, but i know the woman here will have some great insights for us stupid men so i hope y-all will offer up your best.. when the woman i am with starts to tear up or cry i feel totally helpless and useless.
this is one of the most dreaded situations i as a man can ever find myself in.
my older brother, the retired police chief, would get angry if a woman started to cry when he was writing her a ticket, he felt it was an act.

Just give us a nice big LONG hug, let us cry, give us kiss, tell us things will be ok, and say I LOVE YOU!! Its all very simple, when we cry we really have serious emotions we need to let "out" once they are out, we are ok. It means the world to a woman to have her man hold her comfort her and support her during the "letting it out" process.

Dubs who shun those not DFed/DAed who fade
by gumby inlately i have been reading alot about those who cease the dub life, and though they are not officially dfed or daed, are treated as though they are by dub family and friends.
when i was a dub , i remember viewing those who did not come to meeting's anymore nor field service......as simply "weak" or inactive.
never do i remember shunning or snubbing those who seemed to fade away.

absolutely, I agree 100% because after all, they cant wipe their A$$ without an outline and an instruction manual from the society, right? But in this particular case, yes she was a SNOTTY JERK! Always was when we were growing up anyhow.

Have you ever preached in a prison?
by Gerard init is evident that some prison immates get asimilated while doing their time.
i wonder if any of you used to preach rutinely in a prison and what was your experience.
were you asked by elders to do that or were you pro-active?

My dad was an elder, and they had a whole program set up where elders with assistants would go the the prison and study with the inmates. Dont think they do that anymore, this was in the 80's.

Gumby, I did my fade between 18 - 15 years ago, I I was VERY shunned by my immediate family and by MOST but not all witnesses who would see me here and there. I dont think its anything new, it happened to me all those years ago. THey flip-flopped throughout the years, to where now I am mostly not shunned (still a little by a few SNOTTY jerks). As a matter of fact, when this happened to me recently, I was snubbed/shunned by someone I grew up with when my mom guilted me into going to a memorial about 3 or 4 years ago. My mother father and brother actually got upset with her for doing this to me, when years ago they did it themselves, go figure.

Hi there, welcome and yes I know what you mean. I have been long, long faded, yet I still have to deal with my parents who are WAY too friggin active in this organization. It irks me to no end the type of comments my mother constantly makes. LIke she gets all excited and says "remember how much you used to love the great teacher book" because she wants my kids to have one. I never liked that dumb little book, dont kids like books fro Christ's sake. Or she constantly brings up different ones and what their status is, like I am supposed to be "cut to the heart" when she says stuff like so and so is no longer doing anything in the truth, or is now dis-fellowhipped, and I think to myself "HALLELUJAH" for them. Or she will get all giddy and say another so and so was reinstated and I am supposed to jump up and down for joy, yes still way to connected to it all... SHEESH!
p.s. at least my father gets it, he can tell just by the look on my face, to put a lid on it, my mother just does not get it though.

Hi Mona,
Elders are humans, humans have absolutely no right to judge other humans, the only one who has the right EVER is God and only God. Please do not subject yourself to the humiliation you will without a doubt go through once you are disfellowshipped. Run, Run, run as fast as your little feet will carry you, far away from this sick, disgusting, hurtful religion. This can be a blessing in disguise as you can use it as away to exit a "mind controlling cult". If you have family who will shun you, then you will undoubtedly have further issues with hurt and pain that will come up. Thats where we come in, we are here to listen, support and help you when you need it.
Good Luck, and on a positive note, you said you are very happy with your newboyfriend. Congratulations! You deserve happiness, enjoy him and live it up.
ciao!
