Raised in the truth, parents were brought in my the door to door work in 1970. Wonder if it was more common to be brought in by means of the door to door work in the early 70's, before 75? Doesnt seem at all common anymore.

How many brought to the JWs by the door to door work?
by undercover inminimus stated in another thread that 99% of newly baptized jws are children/teens of jws.
another poster said that they knew of only one person baptized in 20 years of door to door work.. let's do an informal, unscientific poll/survey:.
how many here were brought into the "truth", whether baptized or unbaptized publishers, by means of the door to door work having no prior experience with jws?

Do you think this would work?
by truthseeker1 inthis just popped in my head, wondering what to say if a jw came to the door.
if you asked them politly to take the trash out (you bring it to the door for them so you don't have to invite them in), would they?
they are there to give a good witness, right?

Preaching Doom and Gloom in October?
by Sassy inmy ex husband (who is dfd but not a professsed apostate) told me yesterday that in october there is going to be a big push for preaching doom in service.. like the last chance to get people in before the end.. .
has anyone else heard this?.
i assume either his brother who is a dub or his mother have passed this on to him, in order to scare him to come back quick before everyone dies.. .

I remember my mom saying years and years ago, that there would come a time in the time of the end, that the door to door message would be a its too late message. IT was supposed to be compared to the time of Noah, when the doors on the ark were closed. Wonde if its something like that. Such garbage, I always thought if they really followed through with that, that would tick alot of people off. I mean you go to the door, and tell them God is going to kill them??

JW fun is at an all-time low
by Nosferatu inthere used to be much more enjoyable things in the jw religion that would give you some relief from the recycled information.
remember when there were two dramas at the conventions?
remember at the meeting, instead of having a public talk, a missionary would show slides from his recent trip, or there would be a movie shown from the wts?.

A JWs thought on volunteering
by kls ini was reading our local paper and there was a article that a hospice has opened in our area and volunteers are needed to help take care of those who's time is very short.
i thought about it ,if i could handle seeing these people die in-front of me and seeing the sorrow on their loved one's face's , so i mentioned my thought's to my jw husband how i would like to volunteer at the hospice and help them with the caring they need before they die.
who did i think i was telling this to, his answer to me was ,,,,what ?

Also, they believe they should not waste their time because nothing will change the bad things in this "old world", like sickness etc. Only Jehovahs new system can bring about that change, so why bother.

EVASIONS! Techniques JW's use to avoid dealing with the truth about TRUTH
by Terry inmy weekly conversations with my old friend, johnny, who was responsible for bringing me into the watchtower society, have proved to be a herculean task.
he is still active in the organization and greatly skilled at avoiding anything unpleasant for him to face.
i've learned to identify his evasions as such and prepare myself mentally to deal with them.. what evasions have you encountered?.

Once about a year ago, I was out to eat dinner with my brother, and I brought up some of the Ray Franz stuff. BOY, is he ever good, he looks to the side and completely changes the subject I mean a 360 degree turn, like to the weather. He was so smooth just kept right on talking and before you know it, everyone was discussing the weather. My husband didnt even pick up on it. I did not pursue the conversation, I was so nervous about bringing it up in the first place. They are GOOD!

As long as I've been out, I still hear all the rubbish, (still lots of it). My mom fills me in on all the juicy gossip.
