  Abraham's Sacrifice

  i'm taking this philosophy class(oh no worldy wisdom) and the instructer mentioned how it always bothered him how abraham's god(yaweh or jehovah to us) had put him through the ordeal of even asking him to sacrifice his son.

  i identified with this because it's something that always bothered me as well.

  i know it was supposedly just a "test" but to me it doesn't seem like something jehovah would ever do when taking into consideration his characteristics outlined in the bible.

  My thoughts are, it never happened!

  Abraham..the man who pleaded with god to spare the supposedly wicked Sodomites willingly agrees to a human sacrafice ritual which God is supposed to detest...no wonder they all got mixed up at different times wondering what kind of worship was acceptable.

  Jesus said God never puts us to the test, did Jesus lie or did this event never happen the way it was written, much like many of the other events written in the old T.

  my husband and i have been married a little over a year now and it has been the happiest year of my life.

  i have finally found someone that i truly love and that truly loves me.

  he's also my best friend.

  I had a cat who felt the same way, then it would feel all rejuvinated and chase squirrels all day...do you guys do that?

  I try to meet him with a kiss and in the morning since he is the early riser, I will stumble out all groggy and curl up in his lap (sigh) those moments are priceless.

  for those of you who have not read this book, i encourage you to immediately obtain a copy, especially if you still don't believe that jw's are a cult.

  although inactive and filled with doubts about the organization for a number of years, i truly disregarded all thoughts of it as a 'cult'.

  i figured that it was simply misguided men who thought they were doing the right thing.

  you all know, of course, that i'm an ex-jw (duh) and that breaking away was extremely gut-wrenching.

  my brother-in-law was one of my primary "mentors" in the troof as well as being ten years older than me.

  The dream has a double meaning...first..there will be seven years of sexual famine in your home and then...well actually that's it.

  Seriously...keeping a notepad close to your bed so that you can write down what you remember when you wake up lets you look back over it, seems like you have the interpretation of that dream figured out and it sounds reasonable as well.

  BTW I sold my dream recollections to Hustler magazine...ok so I paid them to take them...alright already, so what if they made them into a cartoon, it was a dirty cartoon.

  I don't know what to say other than...you miserable little snot..how dare you drag our personal life out on this public forum...

  On second thought....I'll bring home flowers for you tonight.

  Put it down for godssakes. Who wants to look at the inside of a toilet if they're just in the bathroom to brush their teeth, etc...?

  Besides, do the people who have a hard time closing a toilet lid also leave all of the GD doors open on their Kitchen cabinets?

  Or turn off the light switch when you are done in a room?

  Or put something away when you are done with it?

  Or put your dirty dishes in the dishwasher?

  Or hang up your coat? Leave your shoes in the middle of the room? Rinse out the bathroom sink to get the toothpaste crap washed away before it dries up? Make the bed?

  Arghhhh!!!

  Can you tell who does the cleaning in our house, sorry for the rant...

  I just hate to see you upset...not to mention you always starch my underwear when were fighting!

  Hey FMZ...I've been wondering where you are?

  Looks like you found Jesus in room 222, I thought you were bunking with Gumby.

  Seriously Keith....your words are right on the money about Jesus teachings, although I do need to discard most of the book they're contained in to fully appreciate them. Even the point about giving his only begotton son, something a loving father would not require in my books, a painful agonizing death to repay a debt to himself....I'd cancel out the debt instead.

  Anyway lets not make this a bible discussion because I don't believe you meant to be one. Besides, billions of people over the centuries who have never seen or held a bible have practised love and exemplify the exact qualities Jesus spoke of in the bible.

  Very impressive reasoning and thoughts for such a young man Keith....must have been from hanging around with us old guys in Texas...then again we all had slurred speech in Texas, so you must be just a smart young fella.
