  as some of you know, i still remain, for the time being, a bit under the radar for family reasons so i'm being a bit general in nature.. ms. rub a dub is intimately involved with purchases, sales and compliance issues and when dealing with commercial and at times government contracts under homeland security.

  as such, she is "in the loop" so to speak and receives communications daily on what is changing where.. about 30 minutes ago, she came out of her little office and said, wow, i just got my daily report and noticed that china has just raised the price on exports of medical items by 25%, even on contracts that are under production.

  she said immediately, the us then eliminated all tariffs on medical-related items to at least lower the prices somewhat.. i didn't get the details since she got another call and is still on it but i have to say, the chinese play hardball.

  US accused of 'wild west' tactics to obtain protective gear
  The US has been accused of using "wild west methods" to obtain personal protective equipment to be used in the fight against COVID-19.
  In France and Germany, senior officials said the US was paying far above the market price for masks from China, on occasion winning contracts through higher bids even after European buyers believed a deal was done. Brazil's Health Minister reported a similar incident.
  Interior Minister for Berlin state Andreas Geisel said 200,000 face masks purchased by the German capital were suddenly diverted to the US en route from China, describing the diversion as "an act of modern piracy".
  "Even in times of global crisis there should be no wild west methods," Mr Geisel said in a statement.
  German officials confirmed that their delivery was seized at Bangkok airport and diverted elsewhere, without naming the perpetrator.
  The US has not responded to the accusation, but a DHS official said US companies and the Government have been paying above market price for much of the gear purchased overseas.
  The official, who requested anonymity to discuss the matter, said the US would not stop buying "until we have way too much" and could still be searching out protective gear abroad through August.
  "We've gotten our hands on every bit of it that we can," the official said

  for myself, there is an embarrassingly long list of things that really should really have woken me up, fully.

  it was a long process for me, as a mind controlled born in, things i simply did not agree with, or knew were downright wrong, that built and built, and, eventually i woke up, after 58 bloody years in !.

  but just mainly for fun, what should have woken you up ?.

  Covid-19 (Coronavirus) - Status Update Thread

  this topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.

  latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.

  the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.

  Here in Australia, Simon, with due respect, they have been peak level. And this is before Covid-19.
  

  Ambulances in most states ramp up outside hospitals and have been doing so for months. Ambulance crews have been with patients in corridors for hours as well awaiting assessment by hospital staff.
  

  Ambulance and hospital staff are working ridiculous hours.

  There is currently a call for all retired medical professionals of all disciplines to come back to assist with what promises to be a major overload of our health system in Australia. This is beyond our current overload.
  

  2+2=5 has stated the situation here succinctly.

  COVID-19 ANNOUNCEMENT
  
  Dear friends, the local body of elders have agreed on the following actions in relation to today’s announcement.
  
  Theocratic Events
  At this stage congregation meetings will continue to run as normal. No publisher should feel obligated to attend congregation meetings at this time if they feel concerned or anxious about doing so. Please be assured, you are not being unfaithful for taking such precautions. If you choose not to physically attend our meetings at this time please take advantage of the dial in and video conferencing facilities. Please call your group overseer if you need assistance with the Zoom app.
  
  Memorial Arrangements
  In view of the accelerating risk of COVID-19 transmission. We will not invite the general public to the memorial. We may invite family members and friends only. However there will be strict Hygiene requirements that all will be required to adhere to, prior, during, and after the memorial commemoration. Please prepare your friends and family for this so as to protect themselves and all those who attend. (Phil 2:4) “look out for others”.
  
  Field Service
  Effective immediately and until further notice we will not continue going from door to door nor be in close proximity to the general community. Our weekly field service groups will still proceed as we are currently arranging alternative field service provisions. More details will follow very soon.
  We understand this may impact those who have chosen to Regular or Auxiliary pioneer. Rest assured that those taking the lead understand your situation. We serve a happy and reasonable god, so keep doing your best and Jehovah will do the rest.
  The current global pandemic reminds us of the description of the ride of the fourth horseman in Revelation chapter 6, which includes mention of “deadly plague.” These events strengthen our faith that we are living in the final part of the last days.
  
  More than ever, it is vital that we do not panic, but demonstrate faith by “keeping calm and showing trust” in Jehovah. (Isa. 30:15)
  
  If you have any questions or concerns in regard to these adjustments please speak to one of the elders.

  In addition to this, today, all circuit overseers have been advised that no visits will be conducted for the next two months.

  The co's have been advised to attend a cong of their choice if they want to in the interim. As it happens, many of the co's are in the high risk area.
  

  All circus assemblies have been cancelled for two months at this time.

  Apparently the Aus branch is leaving decision making re field circus and memorial invites up to local bodies of eldubs in Australian states and local congs.

  Here in Melbourne Australia.

  A circuit assembly at the Melton assembly hall scheduled for saturday was cancelled friday.

  An elders school saturday in the west of Melbourne was cancelled friday.

  All distribution of memorial invitations has been put on hold till further notice.

  Field circus, however, is still continuing. Isn't that dumb ??
