Which would the watchtower choose if it came down to this in the United States or Europe? Losing tax free status would mean losing millions of dollars. Ending shunning means people would leave by the boatloads. Remember shunning probably hurts the ones forced to do it more than it hurts the ones on the receiving end. Most people wouldn't shun their own children if they didn't feel they had to. I think the warchtower would chose to end shunning. Always follow the money.

After leaving did the feeling go away?

That's the feeling that I had when I was a true believer. Everyone is different I guess. I didnt abandon my belief in God. I think it's important to find something to believe in, whether it's faith or helping people.
im technically still in but what has also helped is that I realized that they are the ones wrong, not me. If you still believe in God, read the bible more especially romans, Galatians, Ephesians, Hebrews And James. These bible books blow merciless, self righteous JW doctrine out the water and can help you battle your negative feelings.

Detroit International Convention, June 6-8 - IS the public invited?
by Faithful Witness inmy mom was worrying out loud, about inviting the "public" to this event.
she told me they were announcing that people were not booking their hotels fast enough, and "we don't want to make the jw's look bad!
she told me about a promotional video they all watched, full of propaganda about the ford field house and all the arrangements that had been made for transportation and parking, and the city of detroit.

Heres another link about Adams. I hear he is rarely seen at headquarters and is the real boss. Most people say he doesn't even seem to be "Spiritual". all business.
I also have a friend who went to Puerto Rico and met Nestor.

The CO visit this week he says" In August..."
by James Jackson inup until 5 years ago, the co used to work up their own parts for specfic congregations in their circuits.
everything is up to script, in other words, every co in the country are givings the same talks in the local congregations they visit.
what got me to cringe is when he said at the meeting, trying to encourage everyone to pioneer this august; he said :" you know this october it will be 100 years since gods kingdom began ruling, remember what happen when joshua told the israelites to march around jericho on the seventh day, and what happened when they let out a great war cry?

The end is so eminent we are having shorter conventions and less meetings and a huge money grab. It becomes clearer everyday that the GB doesn't even believe the mess they spew. Sadly there are those who latch on to every word.

The WT Isn't Going Away (sorry got long)
by LostGeneration ini've seen more threads and comments in the last week about the "demise of the wt" than in some time.
several were on threads about the donation arrangement and how its going to backfire in some way on the wt.
oh and the lone elder who was pissed in some sort of passive-aggresive manner about it when he presented the resolution.

I did accounts for several years before switching congregations. All the big donations came from checks. It was the same people each month Donating. 10% provided 80% of funds. And since donations are private unlike field service time, you can stop donating and nobody will even know. Also despit watchtower claims we have not hit 8 million officially.
People genre are forgetting the most important factor. Time. As time passes the zealots die off. There are no young ones waiting in the wings to replace them. the older one donate the most. I know this for a fact from my time as accounts servant. The watchtower has access to demographics. They know theie time is limited by their inability to recruit new ones and retain young ones. Who knows how long it will take for the Borg to fade into obscurity, but it will happen and they know it. if the internet was around in 1975 there would be no JWS today. Think of all the people who denu we predicted the end I. That year. Any talks by crazy circuit overseers would be all over YouTube. the fail would have been epic.

I Disagree with a few things. first thing is that even though someone may remain in the organization, that doesn't mean they will continue to donate. If they have doubts they will not voice them, but they will cut back on donations. donations were the first thing I stopped. Second, people are already defying Brooklyn authority. That's why a video begging people to attend the Detroit convention was necessary. Apathy is very powerful. People continue to wake up and they can no longer recruit. They are simply getting as much money as they can because they know long term growth is very bleak.

Did the WT ever unofficially ban Kal-El?
by HowTheBibleWasCreated ina few years ago avatar was 'demonized' by the wt.
in reality their argument had an extreme ignorance of hinduism and a poor knowledge of modern langauge (avatar means something else nowadays.... ).
but anyway when i was growing up my parents recorded the 4 supermen movies on to video tape as they were played on tv.

Avatar was mentioned by over zealous brothers from the platform and during comment from the audience in my area.

i was expecting a doctrinal debate with my parents when I told them I thought the GB was teaching bullocks (love that word). no debate from my parents. Just a regurgitation of 2,3. And they haven't even gotten on me for slacking in service.
