That's very interesting, the new heading. It does give them a more authorities sense. Maybe it's to get their name out there. To me, it looks like they're harboring more control. Cut out the DO, less people to get through. Now the Governing Body is closer to viewing over the elders. We'll just have to wait and see what happens next. The clearer reason could show up later.

Letters to the Body of Elders (BOE) - Change in Letterhead
by Oubliette inwithin the last few hours, two separate posters, watchtower87 and pixel, independently posted news of a april 22nd, 2014 letter to the boe regarding a change in how elders are to be appointed and deleted:.
boe - pdf - confidential 2014-04-22 adjustment in process for appointing elders and minisletter to boe: adjustment in process for appointing elders and ministerial servantswhat i found very interesting is the letterhead and the signature.
they are both from "the governing body of jehovah's witnesses" and not from "the christian congregation of jehovah's witnesses.".

What I found surprising was when he said "we're not saying its wrong to read literature publised against Jehovah's Witnesses" (7:30) what???? since when??? Another thing was when he was saying that being brilliant wasn't always a good thing (25:15) then he goes on to say that Ptolemys canon was a fraud- but thats not true. He was talking about Robert R. Newtons books "The Crimes of Ptolemy" which has problems in it and JW influences. Nothing certian about Sintuko's claim. Ironically he does a brief mention of 1975 when he was the one doing speeches on it.

Hey....where's my invitiation ???
by exwhyzee ini was in my company truck again today, pulled over to the side of the road in a neighborhood, doing some measuring and looking for some survey markers.. a group of jw's were working their way down the street toward me.
the 2 middle aged ladies were smartly dressed, one had brightly colored highly styled auburn hair and was wearing large noticeable jewlry.
the brother was late 50's hispanic also smartly dressed in a black top coat and seemed like he might be elder material.

So I got called on today...
by Thumblina inpoor sod.
i felt quite sorry for him in the end.. for context, i was brought up as a jw since i was very young.
i left 6 years ago (faded) a little before turning 30. i was on here a lot around that time but under a different profile that's no longer active.. for the past 18 months, i'm back living in the territory of the congregation i grew up in.

Woah a choice between Scientology and Jehovah'a Witnesses?? Hahaha, that made me lose all credibility for that guy. I dont think he has done enough research, either that or he's easily convinced.

G.B. ARRANGED A MEMORIAL WITHOUT EMBLEMS!
by The Searcher inweird!.

This is really strange. Two problems happen with not having emblems:
1) You remove the chance of anyone who could potentially want to partake in the emblems. It's already been noted that during the memorial discussion, they highly discouraged partaking but now they've gotten rid of the whole thing.
2) The emblems are part of the ritual, one of the most important parts of the whole thing. Other than that, it's like going to another meeting. That's what makes the whole experience unique.
I'm sure Jesus wouldn't mind if something other than unleavened bread and wine if it wasn't available.

Mark Sanderson is NOT an overlapper..

It is a mess. Basically its this:
Group 1: anointed before or during 1914. (Group 1 had to have ended in the 1990's in theory)
+ Group 2: anyone anointed while members of Group 1 were alive (contemporaries of Group 1; had to be anointed at the latest by the 1990's)
= "this generation"

Data-Dog, they thought that Stephen Lett isnt part of "the generation"? From the sound of it, it looks like they didn't know how to respond to what you told them but to just go along. I have a feeling that they don't even understand this doctrine!
So then Sanderson would be part of "the generation" but not according to the way the elders responded. The January Watchtower made the whole thing sound urgent, up to the same old tricks.

Sanderson would be an overlapped depending on when he partook. One online source (can't confirm this) said he started in his 20's. Being born in 1965, that would mean he had to have done it sometimes between 1985-1994. Assuming that Fred Franz was the final partaker before or during 1914 and the last one alive from that time, his death was in 1992 at age 99. If Sanderson started before 1992, he would be part of "this generation" because he partook while there was still a member alive from the first group. If he partook after 1992, he would no longer count.
Lets say that the youngest partakes before Fred Franz death ranged from ages 18-20. Franz died in December of 1992 so there could still be partakers that same year in April. This would mean they were born from 1972-1974. Today those people would be ranging between ages 40-42. Still plenty of time left until they reach a much older age.

The Generation that will not GO away
by raymond frantz inhi guys looking for all watchtower quotations for the "overlapping generation" doctrine from it's very inception .could you please help ?.

yeah, the 2008 teaching would count in this case, they just don't explicitly say the word "overlap." The 1950 quote is really interesting. In that case, the word generation is being defined as "contemporaries" because there are generations that live at the same time, overlapping one another.
