Jwtalk is where all the JW's go but that site is like a fortress, heavily guarded and monitored against any negativity or criticism. You cant go onto certain sections until you've spent some time there with an account. I've seen it and sometimes people would write in their posts that they don't mean their comments to sound critical, because they're afraid of having their comment or post removed and such.

I still love Kingdom Melodies.
by POs Son inok, at the risk of getting flamed, i have been out for over 20 years, and still love kingdom melodies.
i remember them for the good times, the conventions and assemblies, hearing the orchestral versions, imagining the orchestra playing.
some pieces were really nice.

There are some that have beautifully written melodies. Listening to old kingdom songs makes me nostalgic since I remember falling asleep to them as a kid. I grew up with the brown book before the change to the new one. I'm not very fond of the new songs that are always played from the new songbook, the melodies aren't that great and a lot of the older songs that appear in the new book are hardly played.
Some I like:

Rebranding of the Watchtower to JW.org - how long in the works?
by truthseeker inthe transformation from watchtower to jw.org is nothing short of remarkable.. animated cartoons (caleb and sophia), the new jw.org slogan, international convention websites (featuring previously unthinkable entertainment in the kingdom hall) - how long do you think this has been in the works for?.
i feel very uneasy about what is happening - it's so sudden, seems like it all happened within the space of a year.. i sense some intelligence about all this, as if it has been some carefully orchestated performance - to dazzle and distract.. the kingdom ministry of 1999 was totally against the internet and now they seem to embrace it along with tablets and smartphones.. why the sudden change?
do you think it is anything to do with social media?.

My guess is after the final old GB members past away since they're from an older generation that grew up without internet. With statistics showing growth percentage greatly declining during the 90's, must have happened in the 2000's, early to mid. Around that time I'm sure they had planned to move out of Brooklyn. As for the website could have been much later. Everyone uses the internet and it's inevitable not to. With all these "apostate" websites going around, there isn't much defense for the Watchtower so they need to counteract that issue with what they can. JW.org offers something fresh, modern, and more sleek. Plus it's more convenient for members to gain easy access to information, and that would include other people.

I went to field service this Saturday, didn't actually do anything but sleep in the car. Anyway, as the elder exited the car to meet a return visit and my mother reminded him to take his bible along. The elder replied that he didn't need it and he would use what "the Slave" provided, meaning the online video and brochure for the new campaign. Talk about replacing the Bible!

You ever notice how personalities change when CO comes around?
by dugout inisn't it sickning when normaly people in the cong don't even speak to you.
but when the co visits comes they want to shake your hand and even (cringe) hug you?
then as soon as he leaves back to normal.

My old congregation long ago started to suffer on Sunday afternoon field service. Hardly anyone came, maybe 3, 5 people in the back room, usually the family of the brother incharge of taking the group out. When the CO came around, that room was packed like never before. The door would even be left open. Once he left it was back to normal.

Why doesn't he just do both if his religion is concerned? It's not like taking time to pour water on yourself, which lasts less than a minute, will take away precious time from field service. He could have donated money or raised awareness, and preached, not like it's hard to do.

I'm not a big fan of the new songs, I like the book that came before because I grew up with them. Most of the time, the same songs are repeated over and over again at the Kingdom Hall, it gets boring. And some of the songs aren't very lively or as beautifully written as others.

There was a speech given at the assembly where a bethel representative (and I think GB assistant) said "where there are false prophets, there is false religion."

What the heck? the new campaign with the tract doesn't really say much. Don't exactly know what the world will know that is new if it's pretty much the same thing already being taught. Just another event in JW land

As a JW, I never thought of this. JWs don't go through this detail, instead skip that whole idea and jump to the paradise part. Oh, and don't forget the birds that will feed on carcasses.
