Again, the Best Turkey Ever.
by JamesThomas inlike everyone this time of year when the weather is getting warm, thoughts turn to turkey.. i buy a small turkey around twelve pounds and do a high-heat chef marc turkey.
but before i do that, i brine it over night in salt water, onions and herbs.. it's to die for.. ok, the kitchen gets unbearably hot for a while, but then you have all this wonderful moist turkey to make cold sandwiches with.
try it, and you will never cook a turkey the old way again.. j

What to wear to the District Convention
by sass_my_frass ini'm just gearing up to head off to the district convention.
i was worried about the shunning thing but then realised, how about i just don't wear the uniform, and dress like a study instead?
with a wig and sunnies none of my people will notice me, and strangers will treat me nicely and share their sandwiches and offer me bible studies.

King James - why ?
by Ramblin_rose ini trust the following links will prove very enlightening regards the subject of bible "translations" and why it is very important to ensure that you are studying god`s pure word, and not a translation which was put together to suit the whims of those whose interests it best suited.

The Greek text edited by Theodore Beza, was even more influential upon the KJV translators than Stephanus. Scrivener in his Parallel New Testament-Greek and English, demonstrates that the King James Version translators primarily used Theodore Beza's 1598 edition of the Greek New Testament. He indicates that out of the thousands and thousands of words in the New Testament, they deviated from Beza only about one hundred and ninety times. Moreover, they not only used his Greek text but relied heavily upon his Latin translation of it. Therefore, Theodore Beza, the successor of Calvin at Geneva, a great Reformer himself, was a leading influence upon our King James Version.
At this point we must ask ourselves if the KJV crew translated anything? Or did they just read what had been translated before them, edit that, and then come out with the 1611 version? The KJV had for their editing the Great Bible, the Bishop's Bible, and the Geneva Bible. History shows us they edited both to make the KJV. If the KJV is really an edited copy of the Great Bible, the Bishop's Bible, and the Geneva Bible, then all they did was consult the Greek for accuracy and make corrections and then beat their chest they had birthed the ONLY God inspired English version. Is this to say that the Great Bible and Bishop's Bible from which the KJV largely comes are not inspired? And to say the KJV is the Bible of God because men died to preserve it, print it, and make it available to the world, would cast doubt on those who died for other translations that existed BEFORE 1611?

Rev. Frank, as a former Boston hippie - hanging in the Commons beneath the State House, sleeping in Harvard Yard and sundry Cambridge "places" I remember my first meeting in 1970, the Circuit Assembly, the nights at the Boston Tea Party watching Traffic, or Alvin Lee on colors and all of a sudden I went from a study of Hebrew, Latin, and Buddhism into the mind of Fred Franz, and then all the books came, and then the study of Greek to enforce Fred's brain to the trained in the "territories" and I forget about the Creator, the nature, and the love of God's Son. Yes, JAVA, there was no more reason, until we left and found the WTS to be who they are - the PIGS we once screamed about and at.

So... based on these 2 questions to achieve reverential [to whom] status as a J.W. publisher, he/she [they say "He"] must coincide with the following:
- Is he free from all involvement in the political affairs of the world? (John 6:15; 15:19; Jas. 1:27)
- D oes he believe and live in harmony with what the Bible says at Isaiah 2:4 about the affairs of the nations?
Guess, the G.B. is unqualified to go out in Field Service based on their U.N. involvement, as well as holding stocks and profiting like Judas in companies that make plowshares into swords. Lying and thieving bastards - raise the bar high for all, but selves. Hypocrits, the hell you deny awaits you!

Daniel's Prophecy, 605 BCE or 624 BCE?
by Little Bo Peep inhello all, i've been reading your site for a couple of years now, and have found, for the most part, it to be very helpful.
i must say, at first i was very "scared" at what i might find, but contrary to what i grew up learning, there is a "wealth" of information outside of the watchtower organization.
i haven't attended meetings for about two years now, and like many i've read about, have spent many hours researching, telling myself "i'm not wrong for searching", and doing more research.

Dreams of pagan kings, interpretations of false prophets and hucksters. I too have been having dreams, Crooklyn is wringing their hands because law suits are emptying their coffers. Anyone willing to interpret the dream? "Aha, Jehovah's day is near!"

I have no disagreement on anything Leolaia, Alleymom, Alan F., or Narkissos has stated on this thread or any other thread. I might see things at times differently, but no major disagreement with anyone except The Scholar.
