Go to Randy's freeminds site and search on "J Manuscripts" and you'll see much. Randy also has a few books for sale on the NWT use of "J" Manuscripts.

What was your breaking point?
by soundbox_guy inokay, i'm new as you all probably know, so my question may have been discussed several times in the past.
i'm just curious as to when some of you came to the conclusion that enough was enough and that you didn't want to attend the meetings anymore or not be a jw.
was it in field service, at home, at the hall?

I was studying at the Harvard Divinity Library (servants and pioneers shouldn't do that) the history of prohetic interpretation in the Church Fathers and everything fell apart. Suddenly the 3 stooges (Russell, Rutherford, and Fred Franz) were no longer God's mouthpiece anymore than Tertullian (in his day) or Origen. These men were full of bullcrap and I was a dupe. The house of cards fell apart and I was sitting at a desk in front of stacks of books and realized I knew NOTHING anymore, closed up the volume I was reading, shelved the books, and went drinking (after 5 years of abstenance) - a few days later I knew even less. "Where was the brother for field service arangements?" Drunk in Harvard Yard.

Recently Disfellowshipped
by dfd ini having been "lurking" around here for about a month--right when i was disfellowshipped actually.

Are Bethelites more likely to leave the JWs than others?
by Gill inhave you any experience of families whose sons have gone off to bethel and then decided to not have any more contact with their family and jws at all very soon after returning?.
i ask this question because i know of two families where this has been the case.. the first family had three sons who one after the other went to the london bether to 'serve' within a couple of years of eachother.. after three years there all three returned home completely different people.
they then left home, left dub land, two married non jws and another lives with his girlfriend.

I was in a congo outside of Boston where the brethren had a sendoff for a brother to go to Bethel. He returned a few years later with a wife (a no-no) from a Queens congo. When he returned he was never the same. Bethel elder and at the local congo didn't want to be a servant, stopped doing field circus, and just shut down. Now I understand what happend to Brother W. Totally shut down and refused to speak to anyone except his wife.
sweet tee - Thanks for bringing back that memory.

Read any good books lately?
by chrissy inso, i will be down and out for awhile after a little surgery this week and i am trying to get a few books to keep myself amused and i am looking for suggestions on something you may have read recently and enjoyed.
i prefer non-fiction, but will consider reading anything highly recommended, as long as it contains at least a spark of truth.
well, i will recommend a book to you alla few days ago, i finished reading into the wild by jon krakauera biographical story about a young man who, after graduating college, got rid of all of his belongings and hitch-hiked across the country in search of jack london-esque adventures.

Read a wonderful book a few weeks ago, "Cuban Prospect" about a Cuban phenom baseball pitcher who is being "shipped" out of Cuba to play in the BIG leagues. Great tale, as well as a wonderful picture of current Cuban life from a "Yankee's" point of view. Reads smooth, and this is his first novel.

Script for the Drama "Beware of Rebellious Talk!"
by Bonnie_Clyde ini just spent 20 minutes typing a very interesting post from a script of the bible drama given as a dc several years ago of how the wt applies the korah, dathan and abiram account to anyone who speaks in any way against the watchtower, the organization, or the faithful and discreet slave.
the modern day characters are brother loyal, brother faithful and brother doubter.
at the end the families of dathan and abiram and lined up in opposition and then the screams begin and the opposers fall backward as if they have swallowed up by the earthquake.

Blondie-
Maybe next year's drama will have apostates brought back into the camp and forgiven if they .... They'll have New Light at the DC and from a January series of 4 WT articles on the Prodigal Son. Then we'll be like Korah - in Sheol.
