  for anyone who is interested, there are candlelight peace vigils being held sunday night 3/16/03 around the world starting at 7:00 in all locations.

  these are intended to be peaceful, silent vigils.. we live in a country that values freedom, and this freedom, has to extend to both sides of the war issue.

  Wednesday:

  Your profound ignorance will never cease to amaze me. You claim that it is supremely cowardly to resist joining a war effort and slaughtering innocents in the name of one's country. I personally think that it is the Americans who are being supremely cowardly.I mean, if you compare America's military power with that of Iraq's, it won't be too much of a fair match. And you talk of the Iraqi authorities "amasing" (you mean "amassing," don't you, you ignorant moron?) weapons of mass destruction. Well, what the hell do you think that the U.S. has been doing for the past 55 years or so? This only shows the hypocrisy of Bush and company in that he's about to invade another sovereign nation under the false pretense of possessing the very same kind of weapons that the U.S. holds in its arsenal.

  To make this short, I just want to say that people have totally ignored one major point. Namely, they should ask themselves what Jesus would have done in a similar situation. As I interpret Jesus' words in the Bible, I maintain that in no way would he ever joined any war effort at any time. In my humble opinion, Jesus despised all killing, no matter what the reason for it supposedly was. In my opinion, Jesus would have resisted killing for the sake of state-sponsored terror. So, does that make Jesus a coward? I know, Wednesday, that you are an ignorant idiot who can neither write nor think. However, I have to wonder if even you could call Jesus a coward. Ask yourself: what would Jesus have done? This is a question that Bush should also ask himself. Here is an individual who claims to be a Christian, but ignores one of the most basic precepts of the Bible - THOU SHALL NOT KILL. Here is an individual who claims to be a Christian, and yet he shows nothing but contempt for the advice given to him by the leaders of most Christian churches, both Catholic and Protestant. It's abolutely disgusting.

  P.S. I believe that refusing to fight in W.W. II and subsequent wars was one of the very, very *few* things that the dubs did right!!! That was one of the very, very few instances where they actually interpreted biblical admonitions and teachings correctly. God can bless them on that account, at least.

  or at least try picking on someone else for a change...i actually happen to agree w/wednesday about people who serve being at least be able to communicate with you as the customer...i don't speak laotian, chineese, vietnameee, any african language, and just enough spanich to get me in trouble or slapped eheh... yesterday i went in to get a postal stamp from 7-11...well the poor soul (he looked vietnameese probably just started and he couldn't get was i was asking for whatsoever...i asked about three times then just smiled and walked out...i went accross the street where the guy from lebbanon knew exactly what i wanted and gladly sold me stamps...i actually like going there better cuz its his store and not another corporate tool...(i want to be my own corporate tool) eheheheh.

  i deal with it every day and lemme telll you sumpin...people who want to learn english and thrive here will, those that don't will keep serving you at thankless jobs all over the country...almost all of my foreign students gladly take esl classes (notice: english as a second language) that's right...they learn the other language to make their learning experience easier, which includes interacting and being a part of our culture, and existence in our country better...not only does it make their lives better/easier, but it makes my job and existence easier.

  First, I want to say that I do not hate Wednesday. If I have any feeling for her, it is that of pity. She is an ignorant, un-educated fool. In many ways, she is the embodiment of one of America's biggest flaws - its myopic, ignorant and arrogant monolingualism. There are - of course - exceptions, but in general, the "track record" of Americans in learning foreign languages is disgracefully abysmal. And, by natural consequence, since Americans are so terrible at learning foreign languages, they never are able to come to even the most basic understanding or awareness of foreign cultures. As a result, many Americans are totally "tongue-tied" when it comes to speaking foreign languages. In fact, they are so ignorant that they are even tongue-tied when it comes to speaking their *own* English language, as is the case with our beloved Wednesday. And because they are so poor at speaking foreign languages, too many Americans are in essence alienated from the world, left to wallow in their ignorance like the fat, arrogant pigs they are. As a consequence, a vacuum of ignorance fills their minds. And, since nature abhors a vacuum, their minds are left to be filled by the lies and trash that they view on T.V.

  But I digress a bit. My major qualm with Wednesday, simply put, is that she has absolutely no right to be at all critical of a non-English-speaking foreigner in the U.S. when she herself writes English like an utter cretin. In her previous posts, she writes "grammer" when she should spell it "grammar." She writes "workded" for "worked," and "privatley" when it should be "privately." And, it's not just her spelling. In a nutshell, an ignoramus has no right to expect anyhing from anyone.

  And, to those who say: "This is America, and everyone should learn the only official language, which is English," I will respond by saying that this is precisely the problem!!!! America should not, cannot not, must not remain a monolingual society. Many people in various European and African nations speak three, four, or even more languages. In fact, people in most countries of the world put most Americans to shame when it comes to speaking other languages. Many of America's problems derive from the fact that it is a mono-lingual nation where basically only one language is spoken. Monolingualism contributes to ignorance and its accompanying arrogance and cultural chauvinism.

  I agree with your posting !00%. And, while there is certainly neither justification nor excuse for the 9/11 attacks, there are *reasons* behind them. In other words, the hatred that motivated those attacks did not magically produce itself in some vacuum. That hatred must be considered within the context of America's fascist, imperialist geo-political malfeasance. To put it bluntly, American foreign policy sucks. It is inane, cruel and cowardly. It is based on evil precepts. We are currently being led by a president who is allowing himself to be blinded by messianic delusions (It reminds me of that old song from the sixties that goes: "And you tell me over and over again, my friend, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.") Personally speaking, Bush's policy toward Iraq nauseates me and makes me ashamed of being an American. The U.S. is on the verge of attacking another sovereign nation with its reason being that Iraq has the very same weapons that the U.S. itself possesses. And if Bush does initiate an attack without a U.N. mandate (which is something that he will do, without a doubt) then he will be in direct violation of international law. Absolutely disgusting.

  Your biggest problem is so much that you are disadvantaged; many people rise above their disadvantages. No, your problem is that you are a total moron, a dyed-in-the-wool cretin who refuses to learn from mistakes made. First of all, you live in a "trailer" - the word ends in "-er," not "-or." In your supreme ignorance, you must be thinking of the word "tailor," a person who alters clothing. Secondly, "...if I was white trash..." should be written as "...if I *were* white trash". And, I see that you still can't get it through your thick skull to capitalize the word "English." Oh well, since you insist on wallowing like pig in a your ignorance, all that I can say is that there is no use in my throwing pearls to swine. Bien entendu, il se peut que l'anglais ne soit pas votre langue maternelle. Parlez-vous francais? Si vous le parlez, nous pourrions continuer notre discussion en nous servant du francais.   Wednesday, you piece of white trash, kindly excuse me for stooping "so low" as to focus on your typos. Yet, I find it quite curious that you - given that you're so damned obsessed with the English language - cannot spell worth shit (I find myself using vulgar terms since they are, no doubt, the only ones you can understand!). First of all, you write "interpert" when it should be "interpret". Secondly, when you write "whatever there origin," you are making an egregious display of your ignorance by confusing the adverb "there" with the possessive pronoun "their." You should have written "whatever *their* origin." I know that the two words sound the same (in fact, they are homphones), but they are spelled differently and their meaning is different. Worse still, the first letter of your beloved "english" should be capitalized (that means that the "e" should be a big "E," white trash). And, most importantly of all, the personal pronoun "I" must always, always be capitalized so as to distinguish it from the letter of the alphabet. Even a child in grade school knows enough to capitalize the personal pronoun "I." In summation, I think that you have a lot of goddamn nerve being critical of people who don't speak English when you yourself are incapable of using it correctly. So, burn your sheets, white trash. Forget what the Klan taught you. Go back to school and dispel the ignorance that clouds your thinking. And, for God's sake, learn how to spell.

  The word is spelled E-A-S-T-E-R-N, you stupid asshole. It's quite ironic for someone to demand "being spoken to" (why not simply say "addressed"?) in English, when that person cannot even spell an English word as simple as "eastern." The situation all but drips with irony. Irony is a concpet I won't even *begin* to try to explain to you, since your obviously feeble little brain could never comprehend it. What I will say - you mutant, in-bred piglet piece of trash - is that you should hurry out of your trailer and head on over to the local Walmart where they're having a white (your favorite color, dipshit) sale. That way you can buy some sheets to wear at the cross-burning tonight.

  WT "Chains of Command"

  how many people here are avid star trek fans?.

  i've just finished watching parts i and ii of the episode "chains of command" and a couple of sequences in the episode reminded me of how the wt controls people.

  in the episode capt picard is tortured and forced to believe he's seeing 5 lights when in fact there is only four.. what brought this to mind is the irrational statements i've heard from people in the "trooth", statements whereby they've suspended all common sense and choose only to believe anything the wt organization tells them.

  I have never seen the particular episode of Star Trek where Picard is tortured to the point where he sees five lights when there are only four, however I have read an episode toward the end of George Orwell's "1984" where the protagonist is tortured to the point where he truly and honestly sees three fingers extended by his tormentor when in fact there are only two being held up. I would say that the Star Trek episode was lifted directly out of Orwell's "1984". This particular episode in Orwell's movel is at once one of the most chilling while also being one of the cerebral or philosophical passage in that in the episode there is a man torturing another person in a most hideous manner, and all the while he is essentially giving a treatise on the nature of pure power.

The old farts of this forum (those people who are now in their late thirties and forties) will no doubt remember the infamous edition of the National Lampoon's high school yearbook. Does anybody remember that? Is anybody still keeping a copy of the "yearbook." Ah, yes, it was a veritable mile-stone in satirical writing. Hell, it made Swift's "A Modest Proposal" seem lame.

  But seriously folks, I really *do* think that the Ketchup song may have demonic characteristics. That would explain what happened a couple of nights ago. Foolishly, I had gone out and bought some curtains that had some smurfs painted on them. Well, a few nights ago, I was woken up from a sound sleep. It seems that the smurfs had lept off the curtains and were dancing in an orgiastic fashion to the Ketchup song. I tried burning the curtains, but they would not burn. And the smurfs just laughed at me. Then I got an idea. I started reading the Watchtower out loud. And before you know, the smurfs were all bored to death. I was then able to burn the curtains.
