What's everyone afraid of? Well, for starters, maybe they're afraid of losing family members - parents, children, spouses. Most people do, in fact, prefer to have some contact with their kin for the sake of love, emotional support and - in the case of youngsters - financial support as well. You make it sound as if getting disfellowshiped were like going to a dentist's appointment or having a much-needed haircut. Your attitude is so flippant and cavalier; it makes me think that you are so sort of troll. Many people find themselves absolutely incapable of stating - "It's been great" - after they leave, or are expelled from, the Watchtower cult. I cannot believe that you don't know of the horrific consequences that many people suffer when they are disfellowshiped or disassociate themselves. Many a marriage has been detroyed when a man or woman decided to leave the cult. Many a youth has wound up living with freinds or worse, living on the streets. And even if a person has no family in the cult, what invariably winds up happening is that they lose the friendship of people whom they have known and loved for five, ten, twenty or even more years. It is very easy to get pulled into the Jehovah's Witnesses organization. However, it is almost always extremely difficult to extricate onself out of this trap. Being a Jehovah's Witness is a way of life, a way of life in which a person soon finds him/herself engulfed in a quagmire. So, please don't state: "Hurry up and get it done." It's well nigh impossible to leave this cult without being inflicted with great pain and emotional torment. For some, it's too much. They kill themselves. This is because the "arseholes" who run this cult are able to exert a horribly strong and negative influence over people even, and especially, after they leave the sect.

One day, Kiwi Bob passes by Kiwi Pete's farm where he sees Kiwi Pete engaging in....uggh....extermely "intimate" relations with a sheep. In a state of total shock and disgust, Kiwi Bob shouts at Kiwi Pete: "Aagh! You should be shearin' that sheep!" To which, with much indignation, Kiwi Pete responds: "Listen! I won't be shearin' my sheep with anyone!!!"

J.C. - So, according to your "estimation," God appears to be about 50-60 years. And this despite the fact of an existence that stretches back through countless, countless eons into infinity! I must say that God does has indeed aged quite gracefuly. I mean, here I am at nearly age 50, and *I* am the one who feels that I have been around for eons and eons. Especially after speaking with my students about music; never do I feel older than when I talk to my students about music. So, I have to ask: what's God's secret for appearing a sprite 50 years old after an existence of innumerable eons? I really want to know.

Bluesbrother: You claim that Fox News is unfair and biased in its coverage, a point with which I agree. But I am confused about something. You say Fox News' coverage of Iraqi "dissudents" (the word is spelled *dissidents* - And I had always thought that you Brits were far better at spelling than us colonials!!!) is sometimes childish in portraying said dissidents as "the bad guys." Uugh, don't you mean the Iraqi *insurgents*. It is the Iraqi insurgents who are fighting the facist occupation forces. I suppose that the insurgents could be considered in some respects as "dissidents" against the newly installed puppet government. However, as far as I know, these fighters are usually called insurgents. Dissidents usually engage in non-military resistance; insurgents take up arms.

The stupidity of it all
by l3gi0n inwhy would i, or anyone believe that a god who expects me to be so anal with holidays, doesn?t care about all the other stuff.
the origins of easter are 3000 years old, children working in sweet shops, for big names like, thegap, and disney are today.. but god don?t care about them, he is more concerned with weather we celebrated the resurrection of the savior by giving our kids candy
dimonds come fromafrica, and are mined by enslaved children, who work in some of the worst working conditions in the world.

l3gion - You speak of children working in "sweet" shops. Are you talking about kids working in candy stores? Or do you mean *sweat* shops?

Uugh, country girl, there are only 48 contiguous states. The 48 contiguous states make up the U.S. mainland. Alaska and Hawaii are the two non-contiguous states. 48+2=50.

Why was Schism's account deactivated and not the account of Wildhorses? She is the one who wonders if the prophet Mohammed was "a gay man and wanted to do away with women so that there would be more men to go around." Are we to infer that gay men hate women and want to see them dead? Are we to infer that misogyny is limited to only gay and not found among straight men? To put it more crudely - what the hell is she talking about? How can anyone draw a correlation between gay men and a hatred of women? There is absolutely no correlation between the two. It's a fact that some men - both straight and gay - hate women, but their respective sexual orientation has no connecion with their hatred of women. Heterosexuality and homosexualtity are both in-born and genetically programed by "nature." Hatred of women is learned and fostered by one's environment.
And Wildhorses comment about there being no more "Islamic decents" is truly a priceless testimony to her supreme ignorance. I must admit that this turn of phrase left me scratching my head. I had absolutely no idea what the hell she was talking about. And then I realized, she must have meant "Islamic descendants." [deleted].
Like her spiritual bigoted cousin whose name I need not mention, Wildhorses is violating posting rules 1, 2 and 3. Specifically she is inciting hatred on the basis of religion and sexuality. Her correlatinon between gay men and the hatred of women is disgusting (and, no, I'm not gay). The ignorant hatred and animosity expressed toward Islam is disgusting. And selectively deleting certain postings, while allowing this hate-filled tripe is shameful.

To Simon and the other moderators:
I can understand why a previous posting of mine was deleted. What I cannot understand is the selective nature of this deleting process. In other words, why are certain people allowed to post hate-filled tripe? Farkel's garbage violates that first three guidelines for posting. By using the heinous term[deleted] he is violating guideline number one prohibiting insulting speech. Japanese people find the term [deleted] highly insulting. Farkel is also inciting hatred based on both nationality and race. And, he is using hate-speech. So, the question is - will his posting be deleted?
Farkel' s comment that the U.S. was following a pacifist track prior to WWII is truly ludicrous; the United States has never been a pacifist nation. Rather, prior to WWII, the U.S. was an *isolationist* nation, content with invading only Mexico - a much weaker nation that U.S. regarded as an easy target. Most historians agree that many lives would have been spared if the U.S. had entered the fray of WW II earlier. One reason the U.S. hesitated was due to the enormous amount of pro-German (and even pro-Nazi) sentiment in the U.S. at that time. Many Americans' ancestors were from Germany. Many Americans are of German heritage.
And, then Farkel has the supreme gall to lecture Simon in an arrogant, condescending tone. I, for one, am certain that Simon knows a hell of a lot more about WWII than Farkel. Farkel's "logic" is really the opposite of logic in that he attempts to establish a connection between two things that have absolutely no connection with each other. There is no reason in hell why Britsh people today owe the U.S. any support whatsoever in its immoral and illegal occupation of a sovereign nation. The invasion of Iraq was in direct and total violation of international law. WWII is history; the fascist occupation of Iraq is an on-going issue.
In any case, I'm sick and tired of seeing hate-speech - especially such speech directed at Moslems and Arabs (not all Moslems are Arabs, and not all Arabs are are Moslems). And I know that there are Asian-Americans posting on this board. So, even though I know that my appeal will be in vain, I ask that Farkel's hateful posting be at least edited and that he be made to apologize. And by the way, the U.S. was attacked at Pearl Harbor by the military forces of the Empire of Japan - not [deleted]
