did you see this comment by baikinguy (or whatever his handle is...)
"They told me, that, personally they cannot report such matters to the police has it is deemed has hear-say, but they will support the victim if she went to the police and they will also talk to the police."
The lies are alive and well at the Kingdom Hall. I wonder if that's the justification the elders used to not report 3 of the 4 sexual predators in my home congregation? Clergy are mandatory reporters in Oregon, btw. -

Just thought this would be of interest to share.
by meatloaf inwhy have such a large family?
when we are out together we get questions like is this a school group?, are they all yours?, are you catholic or mormon?, dont you know what causes this?
these questions give us many opportunities to share with others the hope that is in us, that children are a gift from god.

No matter how much you say that it's all behind you and you're living a great life, the fact that you're here means something. Whatever the reason, it's not been a "clean break." Just my thoughts.
Either that or I'm just a discussion board junkie who can't bear to "miss anything." Bwahahaha! Seriously, I do agree with you, nobody gets out of that unscathed. Someone this morning was joking with me that I'm pretty well-adjusted "for an ex-cultie." We laughed, because what exactly does that mean??? I guess to me, it means that I'm no longer hobbled by my past. It was a rough re-entry (well, not really RE-entry since I'd never been "normal" to begin with, ROTFL!) but I guess I'm pretty resilient, because life is good now. -

I have really terrible eyesight, so I have to get the special extra-thin lenses. My last pair were over $600 before the insurance bennies kicked down their part. I ended up paying $244 out of pocket for them... and they're not even designer.
Plus I need to fork over anther $200 to get my contacts... It's not cheap being able to see around here. :( -

Ms Whip, you didn't have a story with a happy ending.
Odrade was baptized at 15. She was the first of her friends to take the plunge, not to be the first, but because she knew she had the "truth." She pioneered for several years and was glad to do it because she thought she was serving "God." She got married in the Kingdom Hall, and kept on with service and meetings just like she thought she should. When she was in her early 30s, she found out the truth about the "truth," left the Organization, never looked back and is very happy. She doesn't take drugs for depression, didn't commit suicide, doesn't lead a double life, doesn't cheat on her husband, doesn't drink herself into oblivion, started a career, has a nice home, and pretty much has a great life.
The end. :) -

The cruelty against me can be classified as fair or unfair?
by ann in Texas infirst excuse my spelling throughout this piece.this issue has a lot of back history that is needed to understand it, so please bear with the long summary.. i am currently still a jehovah witness, on paper; i have not attended a meeting for over 6 months.
i was reproved about 7 months ago.
because i questioned their actions, and i had influence over others.

Let me get this straight, because I'm not sure I understand... The elders disfellowshipped your fiance for the accusation of a crime for which they did not have proof. Your fiance later was found innocent and charges dismissed, yet the elders did not immediately acknowledge their mistake and reinstate him? You two still have questions about whether you should be involved in a corrupt, evil religion that survives on ego and cruelty because... why exactly? You wonder if it is fair? You don't sound like a dummy, so I hope your question is asked in sarcasm, this is one of the more unfair situations I've heard.
