Dunno, their "leader" sounded awfully callous: "but what can we do? Things happen in life, but we still believe in God." Seems most faith-based organizations would be more emotional: "we're all praying for him and his family..." etc. Instead this is like *shrug* things happen.

"I'd be happy to leave it with you for a small donation to help with the costs of the World Wide Education Work." If you heard that (and had never been a JW,) wouldn't you think #1: Selling, #2: Fundraising, #3: Raising money for school?
Sounds plausible to me that it was a JW. There is a branch in Puerto Rico, isn't there?- and certainly many congregations. A non-JW might not understand the distinction between KH, Branch, and Headquarters.
i was raised as a witness and have been miserable for my entire existence.
i have hated every moment of it.
after about 10 years of struggling, i decided 2 years ago that i was done w/ the charade and wasn't going to return to the meetings.
ugh. Sorry. Maybe this will help, maybe not:
About 4 years ago we stopped going to the meetings, my little brother told me that if I didn't get "things" together he wouldn't be associating with me anymore. He meant it too, there were months when he didn't speak to me. Things have changed though, and even though he is still a loyal JW, this week he was sitting in my driveway on the truck tailgate, playing with my dogs and having a little chat.
Maybe he thought I was going to turn into a terrible person. I don't know. We're still not best friends, but things are nice.

this is one of the sadest days in my life, my beloved husband marco passed away this morning at 5:15 am.. it has been a dreadful day.
but my dear friend was with most of the day while we went togerther to make funeral arrangements.. that was really hard on me.
i have done nothing but cry and cry all day, i finally fell asleep a few hours ago while my friend diane was here and she let me sleep.

Following the wrong pair of legs out to the KH parking lot, then not knowing how to get back inside. I was about 3.
we have a bunch of books that are wasting a lot of valuable bookshelf space: songbooks (the gold ones), nwts, the jw history book, insight on the scriptures, and most of the little dumb books.
we also have a few brochures, tracts, and some kingdom ministry brochures called "the new millennuim - what does the future hold".
we have the entire bible on cassette tape, the wt library 2000 on cd, and lots of other stuff.. someone was asking on another thread about the old school brochure.

it has been quite a while since i've provided an update but recently things have been odd.
there have been alot little things i've picked up on that leads me to believe my wife is really struggling with the concept of remaining a witness.
i provide gentle coaxing here and there.
Very interesting. If you want another book to pique her interest after "Seductive Poison," you might find "Under the Banner of Heaven" by Krakauer a good read. I read it shortly after leaving the WT and found so many correlations it was a little freaky- yet it's about Mormons and one of their break-away cults, thus still "safe."
All around excellent news. My husband and I left together. We faded before we knew what we were doing, though he found out the truth about WT a bit before I did, and leaked information to me until I was read to run with it.
BTW, my parents still talk to me, they were over here yesterday in fact.
