what is the stupidest thing a jw ever told you?
we all know that they say a lot of stupid things, but what really topped the cake?.
for me, it was an elder telling me i was progressing really well when my meeting attendance was down and my field service hours were slipping.
A family member (elder) once told the whole congregation that the "Only place one can receive Jehovah's holy spirit was in the Kingdom Hall"
When I called him on it later by pointing out that people pray for Holy spirit at home and in the field ministry and supposedly receive it there, he said "you are not supposed to be criticizing the brothers. You are a sister." Haha, I was HIS sister. Literally.

but someone didn't appreciate her efforts, so they murdered her.
this is really upsetting to me since i work at a soup kitchen and shelter trying to help the same type of people.. see "search is on in woman's death".
I'm with Scully here. I suspect at some point this will turn into an object lesson on why one should devote their time to the door to door instead of "worldly" pursuits. "Only Jehovah can fix this world, why waste your efforts on this system which he will destroy, blah, blah, blah." Bleh.
That poor woman. She sounds like she was a real asset to the community. Tragic.

pregnancy, drugs, crime, fear of death, ???.
They say it's armageddon, but I think it's fooorrnicaaaation.
They are always talking about it. Hell, when I was 18 years old, they still thought if I talked to a boy on the phone it would lead directly to sex... I'm not kidding.

FWIW, I agree with the Scoob. Tell her how you feel, that you love her and it's every mother's wish to see her daughter's wedding. If there's some way to do it without accusing, try to make her think of how she'll feel in 10 years if she excludes her own mother from the wedding. Remember too, she may want you at the wedding deep down, but will be under pressure to "be strong" and will also be getting lots of attention right now because of "doing the right thing."
Poor Estee. I hope something gets through to her.

as many of you know there are some studies that indicade thath jw have an above-average mental illness incidence.
i know a jw doctor that , ironicaly, has confirmed this claim to me.. greets,.

not just mental and psychological ailments, physical sicknesses too. I've never known a group of more chronically sick person. When you are under that kind of stress and cognitive dissonance, the resulting discord has to go somewhere. Often it comes out in physical infirmity. That's the mind-body connection that eastern medicine talks about.

another interesting statistic:
USA: 1998 report 11,064 congregations, 2002 report 11,752. a gain of 688 congregations. Yet in those 5 years about 160,000 were baptised in USA. That should be about 1600 new congregations. Looks like about 100,000 of them got out one way or another.
And our friends to the north--Canada lost 43 cong in the five years. What happened to the growth "speeding up in the time of the end?"
