When I get twitchy I take calcium and magnesium. But it really depends on the type of twitching. I had a friend who saw and acupuncturist for hers.

My vote is for the former Police Chief too. He'll have the right connections to check it out without worrying the old couple. FWIW

Our argument finall settled....with the Bible!
by bikerchic inevery morning craig and i have this same arguement, but i finally settled it and with his own bible!.
we start every morning having this argument about who should brew the coffee each morning.. .
i say, "you should do it, because you get up first, and then we don't have to wait as long to get our coffee.".

Yeah, don't you just love that? The nice leisurely weekend mornings drinking coffee and reading the newspaper. It's one of the best things in my whole week.

Is the JW religion that unique ??? do others have the same problems ???
by run dont walk inis the jw religion that different from other religions, i am not talking about beliefs, but the set up and blueprint that they work from.. i had a great discussion the other day with 2 hetterites (not sure how to spell it) both in their mid-twenties, they talked about how they had just left about one month ago and were going up to fort mcmurray to work, as they talked about their childhood, their beliefs, their upbringing, their rules, do's and don'ts, i swear they could of been jw's, i mean they went throught the exact things that alot of us on this board went through, it was amazing and frightening.. not knowing alot about other religions, are the problems we went through with the jw religion any different from someone who is mormon, muslim etc.
etc., do all religions although different beliefs by far, basically have the same blueprint in runnning their organization ???
and controlling people ??

I just had a conversation on-line last night with a girl who escaped (her word) from Assembly of God a couple of years ago. Her family and friends now basically shun her, turn their back on her in the supermarket and such. Family cut off her college funding and stuff, don't invite her to family gatherings. When she was in, she was isolated from other children, no extra-curricular activities, no friends "outside." Very strict standards of dress, grooming and entertainment. Intensive "bible study," really indoctrination.
FWIW,

About the spanish congregation thing: English speakers changing to a Spanish hall is a BIG DEAL. You get major JW points for going to Spanish to "help out." It's like some missionary thing where you never have to leave your hometown. They probably started "encouraging" her to go to the Spanish congregation the minute they found out she speaks spanish. You're right too about the legalities of the people taking advantage. Some members are illegal immigrants. Depending on the area, many are illegal. (I know this from personal experience.) If there were ever an occasion where anything had to be taken up legally, there would not only be technical difficulties because of immigration status, but your mother would be strongly discouraged by the congregation elders (more so than normally) from pursuing legal recourse.
You are wise to keep an eye on the situation.

Would you ever visit Bethel?
by freedom96 inyou ever been driving, and traffic builds up coming up to an accident?
human nature being what it is, everyone stops to see the accident.
of course, by the time we get there, we are so pissed at the traffic, we slow down ourselves to make sure we see what all the fuss was about.. compare that perhaps to seeing the biggest accident of them all, bethel.

well, they have these incredible conveyor belts that run all over the place. Like a million square feet of them. And there are lots of boxes. Sometimes the boxes even run UPHILL on the conveyors for a little ways. That's gotta be some kind of a miracle right? And the leather stamping machine is pretty amazing too.
LOLOL @ shotgun. Yep, that's the policy, make sure you get your impressionable newly teenaged boy back there to see Bethel. Almost guarantees he'll be gettin' dunked at the next assembly.
