by EndofMysteries ina good chunk of this song matches up to a life as a jw.. here are some lyrics and how i relate it.. .
my lover's got humour she's the giggle at a funeral knows everybody's disapproval i should've worshiped her sooner (whole verse about perhaps a spouse who left first and shunned by all, and now the other spouse who finally left should have supported them long ago) if the heavens ever did speak she's the last true mouthpiece every sunday's getting more bleak a fresh poison each week (the gb say they are the 'mouthpiece' of god.
this persons other is who revealed ttatt.

Scientists Should Not Dismiss Genesis So Quickly
by Chris Tann innasa discovery proves the bible scientifically accurate.
the debate.
for decades there has been a long standing debate between science and religion as to the validity of the biblical genesis account of creation.

Chris T,
near the begining of the article you pasted it says,
"the Bible's description of planet formation is amazingly accurate in view of the fact that the Hebrew word translated 'day' (yom) can mean various lengths of time, not just a 24 hour period. This indicates that the six creative days of Genesis were six creative phases of an unspecified length, which coincides with these scientific discoveries where light from the sun, emerged gradually."
I disagree, how do you reconcile that statement with this logic...
"There is a theory that says each of God's days in Genesis were actually millions of years for us. Is this true? Maybe we need to ask what does the word "day" mean in Genesis?
The Hebrew word "yom" is translated as day in Genesis. Just as our word "day" can have different meanings based on its context, so can the word "yom". For example, in the Old Testament "yom" is translated to mean a 24 hour day 1109 times. It means a long, long period of time--such as an age--about nine times.
However, every time the word "yom" is used with the term evening or morning in the Bible, it means a regular 24 hour day.
Every time the word "yom" is used with a number, such as "40 yom" (40 days), it means a regular 24 hour day.
What we now see is that in Genesis chapter one God is going out of His way to emphasize that each day is a normal 24 hour day. For example in verse five He says:
"And there was evening and there was morning, one day."
Verse 8: "And there was evening and there was morning, a second day."
Verse 13: "There was evening and there was morning, a third day."
For each day of creation the pattern is the same: evening, morning, number, day. Just part of that pattern, for example using the words "evening" and "day" together, tell us it was a 24 hour day. But God tells us in three ways -- evening, morning, number -- that the word day means... an ordinary 24 hour day.
God is making it very clear: He created everything in six ordinary days."
Also don't forget that biblical chronology puts the creation of homo sapiens at 6,000 years ago. Google "age of homo sapiens" and see what happens LOL

i'm fine with people worshipping whoever and however they please unless that worship encroaches upon the well being emotionally or physically on anyone! Then something needs to be done. Someone needs to be called out and shamed for their stupidity. This is sick!

He is a spirit and thus has no physical location.
Wait so how can he and other angels be described using physical terms including white, light, robes, crowns, etc? How can man be made in Gods physical image if he is not a physical thing and is instead just a spirit without atoms? How are "images" produced in physics? Anything that can effect physical objects must itself exert physical forces and have within itself physcial traits right?
GMJLMT is Jesus selectively omnipresent now? Maybe You mean "the idea of jesus and thoughts of jesus dwells in people who believe in jesus," not that jesus is a physical thing that choses to dwell in some 4th dimension ONLY within human bodies that chose to believe in him right? If it's the later, then what purpose does it serve? If actual rewards come from the dwelling of Jesus in a person then that would be like a random stranger rewarding you with a gift when you just happened to make a choice to turn right down a street rather than left. It would be unfair to all those who chose left due to circumstances they cant control. Getting rewarded because you happen to chose to believe in something is unfair and would be the worst and highest level of "playing favorites" by divine beings.

Name Some Stupid Watchtower Rules or Ideas
by minimus inthere's a lot.. one rule that is dumb is that a brother must wear a suit for a sunday public talk that he is giving.
any other time, the brother could wear a suit coat with a different pair of pants and not be counseled for it.. another dumb idea is that you cannot date a person unless you seriously might marry them.
if you're on a date, you were supposed to always have a chaperone and holding hands might not be allowed as well as sitting together.. what other dumb rules and ideas can you add?.

Gathering of singles is forbidden as it will result in a mass orgy everytime!
I actually walked into a hotel room that had 6 single JW kids during a convention where exactly that was happening. Those 6 people were announced as DF'd from my hall the next week. Biggest regret now was not joining as the 7th person "floater."
Moral of story, gathering of sex deprived sheltered hormone rampant JW teens definitely WILL lead to a mass orgy!

Jesus Christ's horrible death
by Crazyguy init amazes me how much thinking one does when you're out of the cult.
i mean another thread got me thinking about the story of jesus death.
so adam breaks a little test lives for 900 plus years and then dies of natural causes.

No Perry its not just about death in general. The process leading to the death is what is in question here in specific torture and agony and if thats necessary. Putting a dog to sleep and then stopping its heart can not be equated to slowly using a steak knife over many hours to saw at, stab and bleed the conscious dog out, got it? Adam had it easy compared to Jesus, and Jesus would have had it easy if he was born in the US in 2014, in fact he would have had to kill himself or God would have to "put it in someones heart" to kill jesus but I doubt it would be as torturous.
God allows man the ability to sin, man sins, God makes man suffer and die for sin for several thousands of years, God then comes to earth at a time before cameras and internet in order to die a miserable torturous death so that He balances out some giant divine sin scale that he could not in all his power be able to balance otherwise..ooh and because he loves us sooo much. Stupid. If your wife came in to the bedroom and slit her wrists to show you how much she loved you or worse killed herself, would you buy it? This concept of invisible sin that only Jesus death could give attonement for is ridiculous the more you think about it.

transportu:
God at an atomic level is far too complex to have just always existed without something creating HIM.
In fact He is far more complex than anything we know. If higher levels of complexity means a greater need to have been created then your logic is flawed when God is most complex ;)

Was the Biblical Canon Directed by God?
by Chris Tann inthis is a question a sincere christian may agonize over after learning that some books of the bible were rejected by certain early christian groups, while other books that did not make the canon were accepted.
also, when one realizes that so called inspired writers of the greek scriptures quote from apocrypha, that most christians reject today, one wonders if these writings that include these quotes should even be in the bible.. it is true that when it comes to the christian greek scriptures the canon has been closed for many centuries.
also, these books have been accepted by christians ever since the second, perhaps first, century.

"I get my morals from the 10 commandments. I'm about to go do as God commands and kill all of my neighbors I see doing yard work on this fine Sabbath day. This is getting very tiresome to do each week now. I really need to sharpen my machete but I think that would be work and then I would have to kill myself. Actually this whole act of killing all those who don't observe God's Holy day is starting to seem like a lot of work. Oh I know, I will devote Mondays to my infidel killings!" thoughts of a man before God sent his Son so mankind wouldn't have to kill sabbath day workers anymore lol
"The LORD then gave these further instructions to Moses: 'Tell the people of Israel to keep my Sabbath day, for the Sabbath is a sign of the covenant between me and you forever. It helps you to remember that I am the LORD, who makes you holy. Yes, keep the Sabbath day, for it is holy. Anyone who desecrates it must die; anyone who works on that day will be cut off from the community. Work six days only, but the seventh day must be a day of total rest. I repeat: Because the LORD considers it a holy day, anyone who works on the Sabbath must be put to death.' (Exodus 31:12-15 NLT)
What a mean twisted arse. Killing off people who do work on a day thats special to you? And then sending your son and now people just need to show love and not kill anyone for any reason? Dumb. Hopefully the bible canon wasn't directed by any God at all because that would be so sad! And to those who believe in Jesus, even Jesus acknowledged and referenced the 10 commandments as being from God and summed them up into just LOVE so denying that jesus said what is in the bible makes it a much larger leap of faith to even believe he existed at all if you can't take the bibles word for anything.

You can choose to help others anyway you can, that is really all we can do that makes life have meaning. Atheism aids predatory behavior for there is only the law of the jungle as the basic truth.
That first sentence embodies the outlook and mindset of all atheists i know including myself. look up secular humanism.
If there is no God, there can be no energy, energy was created, but it could not have been produced from non-energy.
Likewise, God is energy, energy could not have been produced from non energy, thus God is energy that has no beginning and this concept is equally abstract as the concept that enery was produced from non-eneregy or the concept that the energy needed for the big bang always existed. So lets throw out what you said because it's an invalid excuse. Instead look at the failed logic of the concept of YHWH

So he blatantly is breaking patient confidence? Give me his name, and I'll have him sued and losing his profession within five monites.
Calm down bro, not that big a deal in this scenario. I personally abide by HIPAA in my field of work and there are definitely much more serious concerns well above a person talking to their family about pills people they know take. If you got so much fire in you direct it at real information exploiters like the NSA lol. Not that you could realistically have anyone sued in my fathers particular scenario with only his name and wherabouts lol. hearsay, conjecture, lack of examples and evidence, etc.
Talesin thanks for the articles. Looking back and sometimes still coming in contact with JW's i've known and I get a sense that something is severely off about some of them beyond just a social awkwardness and delusion. I think perhaps that more "exclusive" appocalyptic religions like JW cult tend to attract and keep a higher ratio of "crazies" than say religions like buddhism.
