TRUTHSETSFREE,HI! Ask them if it is a Bible study why are they using other publications, why not just the Bible. The WT.Society teaches that the Bible is inspired but must be properly explained("illuminated") in order to be understood. The governing body of the organization is the only group supposedly qualified to do the illuminating. However their illumination has changed many times. Why didn't God have the Bible illuminated when it was originally written?Wouldn't the authors of the book have been the best ones to do the job?Why did God make people wait 1,000 years to understand the Bible? That ought to give them something to think about.Hope this helps you.Blueblades

Reading Other Books
by Blueblades inwhen one looks at the watchtower publications they soon notice that the writers quote from many different books and encyclopedias in order to try to prove their beliefs and teachings.i would assume that the authors of the articles read these books in detail so as to be certain that they are quoting in context.since they read and quote from so many sources,it seems to suggest that there are many good books on the market that are not written by jehovah's witnesses and yet contain a lot of truth which agrees with watchtower's teachings.so for any lurking jw's,are you free to read these various books?why can the authors of the watchtower publications in brooklyn read these books but not the average jehovah's witness?

Hi! BLONDIE! I know someone at bethel who PROOFREADS after the brothers select what is good for the rank and file. That someone is a SISTER.She is in charge of correcting their mistakes, you know misprints etc.HI! OUT 4 good 3! The line through your sentence tells it like it really is! HI! NEONMADMAN1 Thanks, what a laugh.HI! NATHAN NATAS! You made me laugh then cry at the list of names at the end of your post.I'm familiar with all of them through reading and a telephone call.Your first namesake nathan (knorr) was my theocractic school conductor back in the day when I used to attend bethel kingdom hall.He would substitute from time to time. Falling Away
by Blueblades ini understand that between 1970 and 1995, one-third of the jehovah's witnesses worldwide left the organization.
the figure is 55% for those in the u.s.a.these figures would seem to mean that there are a lot of dissatisfied jw's!
if you were to ask a jw's,why so many would want to leave if there is such a wonderful atmosphere of love among the witnesses, could they give you a good reason?

HI! ORANGEFATCAT. Actually those figures can easily be arrived at.Each year in the January 1st Watchtower magazine the society gives the number of active Witnesses for the previous year, the number baptized during the year, and the new present number of active Witnesses-----with the percentage of increase or decrease. When you add the number baptized to the previous year's total and then subtract the new total of active Witnesses from this, you can easily figure out how many left.Hope this helps how the numbers game is played by the society. In JW Dogma: John Outweighs Jesus
by Room 215 inthe book of revelation, purported to have been written by the apostle john in his tenth decade of life, and one of the most contoversial entries into the biblical canon (so many early fathers opposed its inclusion, it made it in by the ``skin of its teeth") and full of arcane imagery and so convoluted that that it's been the cause of often bitter sectarian wrangling over its interppretation for 1900 years, seems for the wtbts to outweigh the words of jesus in its formulation of dogma.. consider how the insistence of the literal application of the 144,000, for example, has distorted -- and vitiated the impact of-- such plain-language parables as the sheep and the goats, the ten virgins and the other sheep, not to mention the influence of this book on their worldview.
in short, this one book has become for jws a prism through which to peer into the rest of the bible.
that's the view from two one five; what say you?.

The WT.buildings by the Brooklyn Bridge have these Big Slogans:"Read the Bible Daily".Read Watchtower and Awake! Yes! I dont recall the exact comparative numbers, but it was a few pages of the Bible compared to thousands of pages of Watchtower literature. An example in point being the Daily Text and Comments.Usually one or two scriptures, then a couple of paragraphs from the Watchtower outshining the scriptures.I have over 50 years of WATCHTOWERS and AWAKES that take up more pages than the many translations of the Bible that I have in my library.Yes! The Apostles John and Paul outweigh the words of Jesus in the voluminous WT.literature.So, come to me all you who are thirsting, says Jesus is replaced by "Read the WT. and Awake! and Tracts and Brochures and Booklets and Books etc. etc. Blueblades

By The Watchtower's Fruits, You Will Know Them
by minimus inthe society has for years loved to quote the scripture found in mt.
7:20...."by their fruits you will know them".
christendom and its clergy has been denounced because of their "rotten" fruitage.believers of the watchtower truly believe that the fruitage of jehovah's witnesses is the finest available.

Minimus,I also have read that book."Approaching JW'S in Love."by Wilber Lingle. He also has a complete set (68 pages) of questions to be used with the societies Knowledge That Leads to Everlasting Life book. The one they use, to study in the field with new ones.He completely DEBUNKS (exposes the false exaggerated claims made in that book) through inciting questions.Chapter 6 in his book is entitled,"BY THEIR FRUITS YE SHALL KNOW THEM".Then goes on to list 15 topics of the WT'S bad Fruits. TOILET CUBICLE PHILOSOPHY
by BATHORY inhello hobbits.
having had to make some public transport arrangements of late as the nsx is in the workshop enjoying a makeover and lube, i have been exposed to the wittings on walls, often found in public toilets.. today i found myself a guest at a train station cubicle on the way back from work.. as i sat on the ' throne ', i decided to make some note on the masonry wall, as to my state of mind at the time.
i wrote something to the effect..... ' and the daemon before vanishing uttered his last three words then fled.."god is dead ".
