  The downside of no longer being a JW

  we have discovered a downside to no longer being a jw.

  as we were washing clothes today, my husband remarked that since we no longer attend meetings, we are not constantly sending suits and dresses to the dry cleaners and alas, we no longer get hangers and are going to have to (gasp) buy some!

  what down sides can you think of?.

  Quandry! We get up late on saturday and sunday, get dressed to go to ( the meetings and field service ) NOT. The downside is that we have to suffer like the worldly people on weekends and get up late and go out to have a nice breakfast, then a lunch , then a movie and or shopping, finally a nice dinner with wine, then top that off with a cozy bedtime xxx. Ohh!, what a downside of no longer being a JW.

  PS. Then spending some time here on The JWD with all our friends here, another downside we have to put up with.

  To Those Who Put Their Faith In The Bible...

  For those that put their faith in any of the existing Holy Books found throughout all kinds of religious beliefs that puts one against the other so that the end result of such beliefs leads to so - called Holy Wars throughout the history of mankind that is still continuing till this day.

  These Holy Wars take the form of literal murder wherein men women and children get killed simply because of their beliefs and faith in some Holy Book each dying to the death that their book is the right one and the others are not.

  Where you are born in this world influences which book and belief system you will end of with.

  For those who put their faith in the Bible, or any other Holy Book, to me, it is still a leap of faith.

  For those who have had a very personal experience with Jesus, The Lord etc, please ask him to give me one, so that I too may become a true believer like you.

  Waiting, and waiting, a Doubting Thomas.

  Sounds like the brothers and sisters when we miss a meeting. WE MISSS YOUUUU! WE LOVEEEE YOUUU!They however, are expert at lovebombing and lying.

  Special Bethel Talk Last Week

  as you know i still attend all meetings with my still-in family.

  last sunday a bethel speaker came to our hall (crenshaw congregation) and gave two talks.

  one on "avoiding satan's snares" and the other on "showing patience towards jehovah and his organization.

  Anyone watched the film 'Sicko'?

  i watched this film last night, and it made me really really grateful that we have free health care in the uk.

  i know we complain about the state of the nhs, but the bottom line is if there is ever anything wrong with me my first thought will not be 'does my insurance cover this' or 'can i afford this'.. there was one part of the film where michael moore takes some people to cuba to get free health care and one woman picks up inhalers for 5 cents a piece, that are costing her $120 in the us.

  she just breaks down and crys at the disparity of the cost.. it was also telling to see the insurance companies employ people specifically to try and find ways to deny claims or to void policies where a claim has been made.

  With all the money, our taxes etc., spent on war why can't some of it be used to pay for better health care. This way being denied by the big insurance companies would go by the wayside .Everyone wins . The insurance companies get paid, doctors get paid, and those who need good health care will get it. The government has billions to spend on war and death, why not on health and life?

  No politics, we are all on the same page, we all need good health care. Take away the health benefits that the politicians and their families get from our tax dollars and see how fast they sit up and take notice.

  Logic and the fallacy of 1914

  logic dictates that to prove a conclusion you must break it down into its individual parts and prove each individual element.. for instance, i can prove that 2+2=4.

  i can also prove that 4 - 1 = 3 and that 3+10= 13. therefore, i can definitely prove my conclusion that that 2+2-1+10=13.. however, i would be unable to prove that 2+z-1+10=13.

  because one of the elements, z-1, is unverifiable.

  Never...May I suggest that you go to the members directory and look up Don Cameron. His book entitled: Captives of a Concept. Puts the nail in the 1914 and 1919 doctrines. It will add to what you have already posted. Farkel is a gem of a poster. Go to his member directory and read up on some of his writings. He has wit and humor in all his writings.

  Thanks for your post topic, you show us another way to approach this 1914 false teaching.

  Standing outside a pub smoking a cig and along comes an elder...

  i go to this pub (sort of like a cheers tv kinda pub) and since we can't smoke in there we have to step outside.

  last tuesday (on a meeting night) an elder all dressed up walks past me on the same side walk.

  he glances at me so i gave a nod gester.
