What is the GB Giving Back?
by kneehighmiah inin harmony with acts 6:1-7, what is the gb giving back to the r&f?
the post about the cos being retired and recent wt articles about caring for older ones made me think.
the gb is doing everything to cut costs while at the same time asking for more sacrifices.

Has anyone compared hotel prices from the WT with those on the web?
by mynameislame injust wondering if anyone here has compared the prices of the wt approved hotels with the same hotel on hotwire, hotels dot com or some other such site?.
i know my dad used to call the hotel and use his mastercard perks to get a better rate than the wt was offering.
this was well before the internet age.

Tech49 said, " I dont care if I stay in an "approved" hotel or not. I stay where I want to stay. I'm pushing 50, I am an adult, come-on already, go badger someone else, and get out of my face."
Tech, we are about the same age and it took me a few years to come to your conclusion. I have never agreed with the idea that if you go to their convention you have to abide by where they want you to stay, but for many years I was submissive, I awoke, and then I just faded into the sunset.
But I remember those painful stays at the Hotels were there were other witnesses; it WAS embarrassing. I lower my head in disgrace from recalling the hotel restaurant/and or bar to the pool, even the elevator. Does anyone remember the year they talked about Hibachi's not being allowed in the hotel rooms for cooking? That must have been the Beverly HillBillies witnesses. No Jed and Granny had better manners. We just rolled our eyes in our congregation, but the sad thing is that everyone, including me, just took the beatings, thinking there was nothing better religion wise.
There are too just too many variables in peoples lives to dictate where you are staying. Not just Skymiles or credit card discounts, but unique situations, or maybe not so unique. For example, Elderly people that cannot see so well at night not wanting to drive an hour in a strange city to get to their room. It's just not any of their (WTBTS) business. It all about their CONTROL. Scr(hashtag)w them.// Oh, and you were supposed to take off work and go help clean the convention center also the day before, because WTBTS was too cheap to pay custodians who we all know are just money sucking millionaires. LOL

by exwhyzee ini was in my company vehicle and i spotted some jw's going from door to door.. i circled around the block and pulled over.

XYZ, excellent, it sounds that you showed no anger or resentment, just stating the facts of why you left. If you had appeared mad I believe they would have cut the visit short, but you were able to tell your complete story. Excellent job, maybe you lead them to think for themselves.

Congratulations! I love a true success story! Jeh. Witnesses believe that if you don't attend all the meetings that you will end up doing drugs and being a drunk fornicator/adulterer within a few days.
Butane lighters out in mass, and all thumbs up to you. As Bob Seger says, I'll raise my whiskey glass and give you a toast. LOL, A toast get it??? Good Luck in your new practice. (Oh, I mean I hope everything turns out well) LOL again. I just can't stop Ha. ha.

by kneehighmiah inhad a conversation with an aspiring elder.
he said the end must be close because people are so discouraged that the organization can't last more than 10 years.
this is before we received the please come to the international convention letter.

WTBTS has the silver tonguue of being able to move the goal post continually. When WTBTS lays of stinky BM like 1975, they rationalize blaming it on over zealous brothers, then and hint of a new goal line about 1986 as being the "Year of Peace" according to the United Nations. "This could be their cry of Peace and Security",,,,,"but we don't know". This bridged their idiocracy until the expectation of the "generation" was about to bite the dust; this lasted through the 1980's and 1990's, and with some die hard witnesses into the early 2000's.
It reminds me of the movie National Treasure where a clue leads to another clue and another etc. Everyone has their own level of tolerance of a continual diet of BS. As Outlaw says, "concentrate on the corn". Some JW's, for instance, my family, believe they have too much invested to abandon JW beliefs. Oh, that would hurt their proud view of their spiritual heritage to find out that it is valueless, and they have been believing a lie and following false Christs.
Personally, I take the stand of not throwing good money after bad. When Lehman Brothers declared bankruptcy, Who wanted their stock?; yes, it became valueless overnight. However, WTBTS can somehow keep people buying into their stock, lining up to get on the endless treadmill, even when they have over a 130 years of snipe hunting and 100% failed expectations.
Many on this forum has debated if WTBTS could suddenly come to an end, but perhaps they are approaching the tipping point. The internet is a game changer. The assemblies/conventions/regional whatever you want to call it, are attended in the U.S. by a graying (haired) group of people. They are tired and their health is deteriorating. The replacements are not made of the same material. Some like us here, have left the building. Thank you and good night.

Aren't Jehovah's Witnesses really standing in front of the LIGHT and blocking it?
by Terry infolks are about as happy as they decide to be.. looking on the bright side of life gives you more of a foothold when things go awry.
nurturing hope builds a foundation for you which enables you to save for tomorrow and build toward the future and hang on when things get tough.. people dig their own graves when they become pessimists.
"why bother" replaces "that's worth a try!".

JWs no longer taking the Governing Body seriously.
by kneehighmiah inthe recent letter being us to come to detroit shows that jws are beginning not to take the gb seriously anymore.
the buzz following the meeting was that the letter was unprecedented in its tone.
this coming from long time jws of 30 years plus.

" Governing Body is running out of tricks in the 21st century."
Kind of early to run out of tricks it's only 2014

What is the deal with the "this is the last memorial" comments from my JW?
by jambon1 inthe guy i know was saying this the other day.. "it's been suggested this may be the last one", or words to that effect.. where & by whom?.
is this doing the rounds?.

Imminent1975
Yes, it is true that this memorial will be the last for many Jw's. Some will die and some will wake up. I know that my last memorial was five years ago. This is becoming pitiful.

I was talking about this subject with a friend, Brandt Jones. We just laughed that we don't know how we did it, with the elders meetings, phone calls, meetings, service, practice for assemblies etc., on top of all that trying to run a business. I enjoy the freedom on the weekends. At the time I'm on a project working six days a week. The overtime is great, but I could not have been able to stay on this job with the work schedule and been an active witness. LOL
