It is my understanding, that if FEMA is called into an event like going on in LA, with the flooding and all. FEMA with give up to $33,000 per family, depending on need. And some of the monies cane be used to help them git by on, until they get set back up. but most of it is meant to go to making their home usable again if possible After a couple of tornado's hit, a city I used to live in, the wt gang came in to help out. The friends that received the most help, had to give most of the FEMA money to the wt program, along with any insurance money received towards fixing their houses. My brother's place was torn up pretty badly, but because, his place wasn't in the area declared, by the sate, he received no money or help, from FEMA. The wt gang came by, looked it all over, and put a few cheap tarp's over his roof, called it good, and never came back. His insurance for due to some loop hole never paid a dime. So tarp's was the only help at all from wt. yet they went way of of their way to even totally rebuild a number of jw homes in the same area, including the mother of the (PO/cobe aka Head Jackass in charge!!!) that also had no insurance or money. What makes it even sadder from my viewpoint, is how much work my brother did helping do all the work he could, on many of the others places, just knowing he was going to revive some real help.

Expanding number of DC/RC's
by DwainBowman inaccording to my elder in law, by next year the number of dc/rc's will increase by 143. the size of conventions will get smaller.
the elder in law says the goal is to make them all have around 2,000 or so at each.
they are going to make more manuals detailing each job and it's responsibilities.

I had another talk with the elder BIW Thursday, after he got back from the walk through for the RC this past weekend. Now he said that the 140 number isn't all, but that over the next few years, they plan to add more than 200+ over the next few years.
He got pretty upset with me, when I said that all those big 7 & 8 day assembly's weren't needed, that they were such a burden on family's, and that looking back on them, so much of what was talked about, would now be "old light" and that almost every single publication received, are now on the list we're now discourage from reading!

Any buildings like those in Warwick have basements. Where else would the real wt slaves work, down by the boilers, sewer pipes, and rats!
The early to mid 70's the bunker mentality was pretty heavy in the area I lived back then, and even for a couple of years after, thinking that the date was just a little off! It took about five years, for it to really sink in, that the GB was wrong! But no on would say it out loud!

At a regional convention today....

Hey nobodyspecial, it has bugged me for years, the claim, they have no clergy class. I was an ms for years, and turned down the elder appointment twice, I hated the political crap, I had seen so much of, sometimes having to be careful witch elders you were friends with, or listen to. It was, and is a special privilege class!
At the RC a month or so age, the place it was held, is old and full of some pretty steep ramps, instead of steps. A dear old sister, really hurt her knee, and can't hardly walk, and one elder, has been by to check on her!
I remember by the end of the four day DC's, that even had evening program's, how sore your face would be from the non stop smile pasted to your face, and sore hands from hours of clapping over the dumbest things! And CA's that started on Friday, and ended Sunday night, and if Knorr or Franz, showed up, they would have the closing part, and talk way past the half hour or so listed. I remember Knott showing up one Sunday night, and he finally shut up a bit after 11 pm.
The almost two hour lunch breaks were about the only fun to be had!
Back in my early years, most congregation were almost family and friendships were real, we all thought 75 was coming, and the bunker mentality drew everyone together! After 75, with so many new ones having come in because of 75, the closeness really started coming apart, by the early 80's, it was mostly gone. And as the legalistic branch started taking over the Borg, the real closeness is all but gone. Everyone in a congregation used to know where everyone else lived, and seldom did you need or ask for an invite to pop in for a visit, if you were in the area!
I could go on and on!
