I have a question about the assemblies.
by twolips in.
when i was young (er) the society said the army came to the assemblies to observe how they fed the flock.. my question is, even though the asemblies were much more grander then now, with the food distribution ending and all, feeding thousands of people.
now they bring their own lunches.......i regress...does anyone remember how the military was in awe of us?.

Armageddon dream
by tinkerbell82 ini used to have horrible nightmares from the time i was maybe five until i was maybe thirteen that armageddon has come and i'm on jehovah's bad list.
i had them at least three times a week initially, but gradually as i grew older they were less frequent and then they finally stopped altogether...or so i thought.
last night i had one for the first time in at least seven or eight years and it was just as terrifying as it was when i was five.

I have had the exact same dream about three times already. Its not really bad but in my dream I'm looking up at the sky and there is some weird celestial phenomenon going on. Its dark and all of the planets and stars are going crazy and moving really fast, and in my dream I know that it is the start of armageddon or maybe the great tribulation, and it feels so real and vivid. I cant get this dream out of my head.

Would you ever come back for someone you loved?
by micheal inif there was someone you were crazy about who went back to associating with jw's again and they asked you to come back too, only because to live dividedly for the rest your life would be just too hard and awkward.
keep in mind your role would be very limited, few meetings a month, couple hrs service a month etc.. i know "if" this was before me i would feel that i would never ever want to come back.
i don't believe it is the truth, can't stand the control among other reasons.

What's The Most Ridiculous Thing Taught or Believed By Jehovah's Witnesses?
by minimus inwhat do you think??

That JW's are the only true christians, and every other chrisitan is a false christian and will die at armageddon.
Saying "happy birthday" and having birthday cake is bad but its o.k. to have wedding cake and celebrate anniversarys.
Its bad to have a full time job. You should work pt and pioneer

What Made You Leave The "Truth"? Was It False Prophecy, People, Blood, etc.
by minimus injw's like to believe that people who leave the organization do it for selfish reasons or due to impatience and not "waiting on jehovah".
there's a variety of reasons for persons making the decision and saying, "that's it!
i'm not doing this anymore".

It was little things over the years that made me finally leave. For one a JW brother tried to rape me and when I told the elders they did absolutely nothing. They went to talk to him and he lied and basically it was his word against mine. His mom was a regular pioneer and his dad an elder. His family made me out to be a big slut and from that day on none of his family would ever speak to me again. I would see them at assemblys and get togethers and they totally shunned me. They were totally hateful, and yet acted like the most loving, righteous family at the meetings. It made me sick!!
I also saw alot of other injustices like people being disfellowship when they shouldn't, when they were truly sorry for their actions, and people that perhaps should have been disfellowshipped and werent because they were with the In JW crowd, and even if the elders were wrong in disfellowwhipping someone it didn't matter, that person was "dead" to every other JW and not in Jahs favor. I never agreed with the whole disfellowshipping thing. I never thought it was loving to shun someone just because they made a mistake.
And I always wondered what is so wrong with saying "happy birthday" to someone. It doesn't mean you are worshipping the person. And they tell you that having birthday cake and giving presents is a pagan practice. Well, why do they allow wedding cake at weddings and wedding rings because those also have pagan roots. It doesn't make any sense. I asked an elder about that and he didn't have an answer. he told me to write to the society and ask them. I never did but I would like to see what their answer is.

Daughter counselled on dating a wordly guy
by minimus inmy daughter recieved this email from one of her witness "friends".
she is counseling my daughter (indirectly) about her choice to date a "worldly" guy.. hey, so, we had a talk recently that was about love & respect in your marriage.
the brother brought out that this was more for us witnesses rather than worldly people, because it seems that even in the truth now marriage has lost it's correct place.

Obviously your daughters friend isn't a very good friend because they havent seen each other in a while and she is talking to her in the third person, so If I were your daughter I wouldn't be too worried about what this friend is thinking, although I can relate because I grew up a JW and I remember going through all of that.
All I have to say is I am soooo glad I did not marry a JW guy. All the ones I dated were fake and played games and they all broke my heart. I now have a fiance who is and never was a JW and he is the best thing that ever happened to me. He worships the ground I walk on and hes a great guy,.

How old were you when you got Baptised?
by El Kabong ini was 13 at the time.
i wanted to get baptised before the end came in 1975. .
back then, 13 was borderline young for baptism, but from what i've been reading, some are now getting baptised as young as 9 or 10. .

It was mainly because I was pressured by my family and because all of my friends were doing it, but I definitely did not feel that I was ready for it.

Who has the best chance of defeating Bush in '04?
by badwillie ini will be backing former vermont gov howard dean to run in '04.
my reason: clinton was quoted recently as saying that "strong and wrong always beats weak and right".
i remember during the run up to election in 2000 watching the bush vs. gore debates and thinking..i know gore is smarter but he comes across as weaker in debate.

I was reading the book "The Bible Code" and if I remember correctly It said that Bush was going to win again. It also saiys that in 2006 there will be a nuclear holocaust.
What do you guys think???

Do JW couples really have better relationships?
by Latin assassin from Manhattan inare jw marriages any better than the ones 'in the world' as they put it?
when they walk from door to door or mingle after a meeting they appear to be models of ideal marriages.
do you have any experiences with married couples in the 'truth'?
-
sxybrwneyes
No, definitely not. young JW couples cant even really get to know each other and find out if they can be compatible with each other because they are not allowed to be alone together without a chaperone, and they get married too young just because they want sex. And they also dont have alot of choices as young eligible brothers and sisters are slim pickins and by the time you are about 25 they are all married already
I had alot of my Jw friends get married way too young and most of them got divorced or they stayed together for the sake of the truth and they ended up miserable and hating each other, but of course they put up a front at the KH.
I am soooo glad I did not marry a JW brother
